Love this episode. Love the Neverwinter team. Love Dreibus' character progression. He absolutely needs to come back with a new class every time the party levels up. Love the reintroduction of combat to the "C" Team. So sad that I have to wait another week for more, but hope you guys and gals have a great PAX! Never gotten to go but really hope to go to PAX South next time around.
This was one of the best episodes: lots of interesting stories and hilarity with the N team, the Driebus+Rosie perfect formula I never get tired of and Jerry having fun made me enjoy this like no other episode

Does Donaar ever get anything cool? Rosie has the staff, Walnut gets the sword, K'thriss has a cool uber focus. It also seems the party doesn't really let him act in his role as Decisionist
24 episodes in and this party seems wildly imbalanced. So far Walnut has gotten a weapontree grown scimitar as well as the ability to turn into a treant apparently (though admittedly hasn't been making much use of either), and Rosie has a staff that granted immediate benefits and continues to develop other abilities (besides changing her Grandma-mancy twice just because Kate didn't like it IIRC). On the other end of the spectrum, K'thriss has a cloak of stars that casts magic missile, but was discouraged from using it fairly early on because Jerry hinted that it might actually be fucking with the in-game universe(and changed his bonus ability once), and I honestly can't even remember if Donaar even got any kind of magic item at all or if his bonus ability was ever changed. None of this becomes obvious often probably because combat has become so scarce in recent videos. On an arguably less pedantic note, I don't think we've heard the singing skull's song Jerry wrote for Amy yet.
I think it's an issue of complaining/exclaiming the loudest. Chris/Ryan seem to be into playing regardless of outcome and don't seem to need focus to keep attention/have interesting RP, Kate seems to be mostly invested and gets excited over extra equipment (So getting extra stuff is more reward than appeasing, in my view), Amy seems to want a bunch of special attention and equipment or she's done with it all. The part where Driebus asks if he can get advantage once, nicely, and with some justification (In the second session he's played with them total -- he never rolled w/ advantage in the previous session), Amy's naysaying, "Classic, classic bullshit," despite a few episodes ago her killing off a few very good RP situations (imposter Kthriss with metagaming/demanding he not be allowed to use council-granted advantage, riverboat pre-Bramha encounter, the first First Stone's Day pre front-of-house setup) for whatever reason. It's unfortunate, because it does take away from what could be really interesting interactions, but they just get squashed because that player just doesn't handle those situations very well (And, unfortunately, the DM seems to be rewarding that behavior for whatever reason). I'm not sure how to appropriately handle that, because Amy does a good job when she's invested and interested, but seems to not care about the other characters at the table. Maybe a bit of a private talk from the DM would help, but things like pointing out bad behaviors during playtime would likely blow up ("Classic, classic bullshit" being called out from any other player during the heavy-metagaming portion or Walnut-goddess scene would probably have ended in a flipped table, even though both of those sections basically turned into "Walnut does whatever she wants, you have to do what Amy tells you with your character, because your character sheet is Amy's now")
Somewhat like FadingSwordsman said it's a matter of play style. Everyone enjoys different aspects of the game and I think Jerry is playing to it. K'Thriss has so many interactable companions and elements that I think he's content, also we don't know what the lizard king vest does yet. That's the mark of a great DM to realize there isn't just one way to play and enjoy the game. A good performer plays to the crowd they don't tell the crowd what they should enjoy. If you can use what a player loves to edge them into other aspects is the mark of an exceptional DM though. In the end it's about having a good time.
Stunning strike isn't a 5th attack, it's something you can tack onto the existing 4 attacks (or 3 without flurry of blows). And yes, you can tack it onto ALL 4 attacks if you're willing to spend the Ki points to do it. And yes, it's hit confirmable like Donnar's smite. Edit: Nevermind, they said they were going to roll 5 attacks but they did the normal 4 instead. Also her unarmed attacks are a d6, not a d8.

Someone needs to sit Rosie down and explain how monk attacks work. She only gets one strike because she's a level 4 monk. She can then add an unarmed strike as a bonus action, if she chooses to, she can then use a ki point for flurry of blows. She gets 3 attacks, not 5. Even if she were level 5 with her second attack she would only get to make 4 attacks at most because she cannot add an unarmed strike to every attack. It's a bonus action and you only get one of those per turn.
No, she was level 5. She gets 1 Attack and 1 Extra Attack as her Attack Action, 1 Unarmed Strike as a Bonus Action, and 1 more Unarmed Strike from Flurry of Blows using a Ki Point. That's 4 Attacks, plus the Stunning Strike from using another Ki Point. She had to use 2 Ki Points to do it, but that's completely correct for a level 5 Monk. If she made any mistake, it looked to me like she used a d8 for her unarmed attack, while at level 5 that should have been a d6.

Not all of her attacks are with a quarter staff. Her bonus action attacks are unarmed strikes, not quarter staff attacks.

Someone needs to sit Rosie down and explain how monk attacks work. She only gets one strike because she's a level 4 monk. She can then add an unarmed strike as a bonus action, if she chooses to, she can then use a ki point for flurry of blows. She gets 3 attacks, not 5. Even if she were level 5 with her second attack she would only get to make 4 attacks at most because she cannot add an unarmed strike to every attack. It's a bonus action and you only get one of those per turn.

No, she was level 5. She gets 1 Attack and 1 Extra Attack as her Attack Action, 1 Unarmed Strike as a Bonus Action, and 1 more Unarmed Strike from Flurry of Blows using a Ki Point. That's 4 Attacks, plus the Stunning Strike from using another Ki Point. She had to use 2 Ki Points to do it, but that's completely correct for a level 5 Monk.
If she made any mistake, it looked to me like she used a d8 for her unarmed attack, while at level 5 that should have been a d6.
