    People buy Porsches for various reasons. Some people buy Porsches for prestige, some buy Porsches for their speed, some buy Porsches for their looks, but if you’re looking for a true, seat of your pants, sports car driving experience, I believe the 997.2 is the ultimate Porsche.
    There’s no question that Porsche improves their cars with each model year, but with the 991 Porsche changed the 911 forever, and for the pure race car driving experience, not for the better. I say that for two obvious reasons: first, the 991 abandoned hydraulic steering for electric steering resulting in an insulated road feel through the steering wheel. Likewise, the 991 is longer, wider and heavier than the 997, again adding additional separation between the driver and the road. Additionally, the 997 is the last “pure” Porsche, as the 991 was developed under the umbrella of Volkswagon. So, if a true race car driving experience is your main reason for buying a Porsche, I am firmly in the camp that believes the 997 generation is the way to go.
    I have owned two 997’s. I had a 2007 997.1 Carrera 4 which I absolutely loved. I tracked that car and had a ball watching Corvettes in my run group spin out as they tried to keep up with me through the turns. I recently purchased a 2009 997.2 Carrera 4S Cabriolet and I love the newer engine and the upgraded center dash. Driving these cars is an absolute driving pleasure, sure to bring a wide smile to your face. I honestly don’t think you could go wrong with either 997 version (IMS bearing concerns aside).
    As far as the future value is concerned, for those of us who prefer a naturally aspirated engine, these cars should definitely appreciate as the 991.2 started Porsche’s journey on the turbo-only road.
    So that’s my humble 2 cents on the subject. I hope this is helpful to some potential buyers.

      Hy. Did you drive the 992? If yes, can you write a comment?

    Without a doubt this is my personal sweetspot in the modern 911 history. Great looks, the right size and amazing handling. I also love the fact this is the last 911 developed purely by Porsche before there was any Audi/VW input. Long live the 997.2

    That strip of red between the tail lights is so ahead of its time. Love the 4s just for that

      @ahemgee9542 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      its not really ahead of time, its a throw back to the 930, 964, 993 and 996 C4s which also had a full width reflector.

    This is identical to mine, even the alloys. My first (and favourite) was an aircooled SSE widebody which i sold over 20 years ago.

    Nice video enjoyed it what would you buy a gen 1 or a gen 2 Porsche 911 997. Bore scoring can be a thing on the gen 1 would that put you off the gen 1 is a lot cheaper? The gen 2 dose not have that problem 👏🏽🤜🏽👍🏽

      Thanks Jermaine, personally I am a huge fan of the 997.1. If you can deal with the pain knowing that you need to set aside £10k but the 997.2 gives one that added bit of peace of mind. But it’s not to say that .2 won’t require a major overhaul which could easily do. You would buy a .1 for a lot less money than a .2

    First time I saw a 991 in the flesh I couldn’t believe how much bigger it looked, it was brand new and the new owner was struggling to maneuver into a tight parking spot. The dimensions on paper don’t adequately describe how lumbersome those things look.

    • @invictusporsche
      @invictusporsche  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is why the 997 continues to command such good prices and they will continue to rise. Also lower in build quantity esp the Gen 2.

    CORRECTION: The 997.2 ran from 2009-2012, not 2011.
    2012 was a split year since Porsche introduced the 991.1 in the middle of 2012 while they finished producing the 997.2 also in 2012.

    • @invictusporsche
      @invictusporsche  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the correction. In UK we rarely seen them registered in 2012.

    I'm sorry, there's no chance the 3.8 gets 29mpg combined and up to 40mpg on the highway. That's a joke.
    40mpg is what the original Prius got.

    Honestly, not a good video at all. The stuttering, being lost for words, the incorrect 0-60mph times (it's not 4.7, are you mad?), it was all very amateur.
