@@neelparmar6690 I went on a rant the other day about older cars. Not so much that they are better than the technological wonders of today, because they aren't, but because they made us better drivers. There's more to driving than just getting from A to B on the highway fast. These days, lane keep assist is ubiquitous, adaptive cruise has made is to you don't even need to touch the pedals, and you can parallel park by touching a button. I know people who have never been behind the wheel of anything older than a 2005 Ford F-150. They don't know how to drive with no power steering. They don't know about life without being able to hook up their phones to the stereo. It's funny, how so many drivers cry over the looming loss of manual transmissions, when they never really drive on their own anyway. Those old cars made us part of the drive. The immediacy of driving them was not unlike riding a motorcycle. We were part of the road and the world around us in a way we can't be in modern cars. The connection to the road was direct, and there was less safety gear to separate us from the experience. This is why it's great to see the side by side between the modern and the old. It shows how far we have come and what we used to consider state of the art. And Thomas and James did a wonderful job of describing the sensations of old compared to the sleek new experience. From a 992 daily driver, this is an awesome review even a year later! I also love the “we’re reviewing the 997, but imagine in the 90’s when you could get a 993….forget about the 996 that doesn’t exist” mentality, perfect
The fact that well maintained, low mileage 997’s are now keeping pace price-wise with the newer 991s should tell you what enthusiasts think is the better car. 😉
Just to add, the Porsche 997.2 Carrera S does 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds (so 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds) and not a “hair over 5 seconds” as stated in the video. 😎 Love the video; great to see a MANUAL 992! The throw of the gait when changing looks so tight and precise!

Actually, the 993 series was the last of the real Porsches. I have a 991.1 GTS but also a 993. If I had to sell one of them and I don't, the 991.1 would have to go. Both of them are manuals.

Just find you guys today. watched already about 10 video's on your channel today, just love how you both work together and interact with each other. Keep up the great work. BTW, Porsche 911 is my favourite car, but sadly can't afford these beautyful cars.
I loved y’all’s energy and banter. I have test drove a 997.2 2008, tiptronic, and accidentally hit the tip and knocked it down a gear going into a turn. I didn’t like the tip. The 2010 manual is the ideal car for me and price. I love this review because that’s the great thing for Porsche, their older cars are just as sought after as their new ones. Keep up the good work guys .
I love the silver 997 Carrera S and the "Arena red" 993 as they are so pure and unadulterated. I've had the pleasure of riding in a few older 911 Porsche's over the years and I can say with absolute certainty that the older air cooled cars are just so much better. I have a uncle in California with a beautiful 911 SC targa. The best "modern" 911 is a RUF 911. Great video. The passion really comes through. Thank you.
Just discovered your channel and I'm veeery happy that you guys keep the (sorry) ''fake'' excitement to a m-i-n-i-m-u-m! Very smooth to watch, not many cringe moments. THANK YOU ❤
This has to be my favourite old vs new! But there are design changes in the 992 I wish they would have left on the table. Such as the gloss black parts on the exterior. Also, I'd take the 997 hydraulic steering in a 911 any day. But that 993 wins in my books.

This vid gets it. And, if you want the most incredible Porsche, get into a '14-16 Cayman 6mt. It is the zenith of Porsche that is affordable for normal humans.
Almost. Second gen 997/987s.
Pinnacle. After that, beautiful cars; less Porsche looking and steering. Just my opinion. Carefully friends
Word. I have a 981 S so I am a bit biased...
Actually, the 993 series was the last of the real Porsches. I have a 991.1 GTS but also a 993. If I had to sell one of them and I don't, the 991.1 would have to go. Both of them are manuals.
Good golly gosh. The quality of this introduction slots somewhere in-between "The Grand Tour" and UK's "Top Gear" by every discernable measure. Stunning. The sky's the limit fellas!
The AeroKit really improves the 992's look - breaks up the bigness.
It's UGGs
Right after the intro the quality was hollywood level you guys are insane congrats on now having 2.51 million subs
Just find you guys today. watched already about 10 video's on your channel today, just love how you both work together and interact with each other. Keep up the great work. BTW, Porsche 911 is my favourite car, but sadly can't afford these beautyful cars.
The review of various era 911's is awesome, what a treat. Thank you
Great video, guys!! Love all three of these 911s, and hope to be able to afford one someday.
feels like this video came out just yesterday, but now I come back and its been 2 years! What!? 800k?? now you guys are at 1.2 mil! amazing!
Who's here mainly for the "and I'm James" line?
22:52.... I died. Windows error sound for the PDK...lol. Great review guys! GET TO A MILLION!!!!
Oh what 1 year can do in terms of pricing. Good luck trying to find a 997.2 S manual for $60k in 2021.
It'll be under $40k in 12 months. 😊
How's that working out? Closer to double $40k at this point and only rising.
So hard to find in 6 speed
The 996 and 997 are the perfect years for Porsche. Like freedom in Canada and America, I miss those models.
I’ll be so pleased for you guys when you hit a million subs. You really deserve it 👍🏼
This comment aged like fine wine
@@pressstart1490 I am now so pleased
This is one of the best car channels out there. I just now found it and wish I knew about you many moons ago. Keep up the great work!!!
I'd take both...But Love the 2010, 911 naturally aspirated engine !!
Driving a 996.2 GT3 for 2 years now. Absolutely love that car 👌🙌
3:11 You gotta hate American cars for those ugly bumpers
You can buy the euro bumper to fix the ugliness 😊
Go to 6:14
If you ever want to cry, look at the U.S. spec Diablo. Especially the passenger air bag.
@@Parker-time I think the front bumper on the Countach is worse.
This has become my favorite car channel. Cheers from Argentina
You guys clearly deserve millions of subscribers
I'm trying! I tell everyone about these guys.
Me too😅
I loved y’all’s energy and banter.
997.2 doesn’t have tip, it has pdk. 997.1 has tip.
I would take the 997.2 over the 992 every day. The 997 is one of my favorite 911, there is just the 993 on the same level, but way more expensive.
Thank you.
Oh I love this channel so much!!!
James, completely agree with the Golf GTi analogy..you want a super speed capable everyday car that will never let you down 👍
That Intro though🔥🔥🔥🔥
1:49 I’m not going to lie, i love watching throttle house tackle Canadian cities
Why didn't you include Thomas driving 993? Or even 993 interior review?
I still don’t know why you guys don’t have 4 million subscribers by now!!! Best car channel on TH-cam!!
I’ve always thought Porsche were great cars but didn’t really LIKE them... I think this video changed my mind.
I dont like their pricing, especially 911, panamera and other stuff is actually pretty affordable, but with 911 you pay like 20% tax for it's name
A really sweet comparison! Loved it, and many thanks. Makes me miss my 997.1 all over again.
Throttle House >>> The Straight Pipes, Doug Demuro, Redline Reviews.
Fight me.
For me, the 'gold standard' is Harry's Garage. Also, Jay Leno's Garage, when he is reviewing his *own* cars.
Vipul Singh yes! Leno's garage is the Original TH-cam car show. I love when he does his own cars.
How could you forget Hoovie? PREPOSTEROUS
Just discovered your channel and I'm veeery happy that you guys keep the (sorry) ''fake'' excitement to a m-i-n-i-m-u-m! Very smooth to watch, not many cringe moments. THANK YOU ❤
Damn that intro cinematic was mint!
This has to be my favourite old vs new! But there are design changes in the 992 I wish they would have left on the table. Such as the gloss black parts on the exterior. Also, I'd take the 997 hydraulic steering in a 911 any day. But that 993 wins in my books.
Eh... 993... Would rather have 964.
Cheers to that ending! GTS coming off the jack stands from her winter slumber Saturday....
That intro gave me top gear vibes man 😭😭
1 year later and they’re at 1.98 million subs totally deserved..this channel is GOATED
The 997 is the last generation of 911 where the body is compact.
Back here after 2 years to say that this channel deserves all the success it has received.
Couldn’t see outer gauges in 993 either... just sayin’ lol
Great review! Do you guys really have more next week??
You guys are the Canadian version of Top Gear... entertaining and informative. Love it!
Great video as always guys. 997 is my choice too for that sweet naturally aspirated flat 6 sound.
