Indirect fuel injection is "soul-less" - Huh??? Why is that??? What's your reason for denigrating later 911's??? Do you know why 997.2 cars are widely considered better? Obviously not. It's because the hot "IMS Bearing" issue wasn't put to bed until the 2009 997.2 Model Year. (The IMS bearing was prone to heating-up and failing, due to inadequate oil flow to it, which started in the 1999 model, which was the first water-cooled 911. Look for Hoovies' Garage on TH-cam, or Porsche IMS.) That's why I think the 997.2 is absolutely better. Oh, I almost forgot - the 2009 997.2 also got the first PDK (Porsche's Double-Klutch automatic transmission) and I've heard they're great! However I've never driven one, because I only drive manual transmissions. I had a '007 997.1 C4S with a 6-spd manual, but sold it at a $10,000 loss before the IMS even became a problem in 2014. Years later, ~in 2020, bought a '013 991.1 C4S Ducktail, with a 7-spd manual. But I don't appreciate the 7-spd because 7th gear hardly gets used, and I figure it weighs an extra 95lbs more than the old 6 spd. (I think that's why the GT3 doesn't get the 7-gear manual transmission.) So, I'm thinking I'll get a 2nd 911=> 2009-to-2012, 997.2 C4S, or C4, because it's got the shorter wheel base. Sorry Mate, there was just no convincing data provided.
why 964 looks?
"We don't want to go too fast because we don't want to be in trouble with the Police... and Mummy".
Hahaha gotta love kids thoughts process
you have to drive one of these cars before judging the flat 4 engine combined with mid-engine layout because it is truly PORSCHE
Great review! What are your thoughts on a 2015 model with 180K kms? Also eHybrid and I'm a bit worried about the lifespan of the accu. Has been serviced on the clock by Porsche throughout and is still with its first owner. Has been a daily driver. Pleased to hear.
Very cool! 991.2 Carrera is my favorite (at the moment 😆) and I appreciate the upload, big bro! Cheers from Florida 🌴💯🤙
991.1 for me. The sound is unreal, I love mine
I can smell the cologne from here
I’ve got the 997.2 C2S and really want a better exhaust!
I've owned both! They are great cars.....BUT if I were forced to choose, I'd take the 991.2...
Rubbish
That misfire is terrible but it’s a gorgeous car
aerokit?
These cars look nice and are fast but it’s such a shame there’s no noise.
It’s been said before, but you should probably face the cars the same way.
Wow, since the previous owners got rid of it in a such time span then I must say something is not right with the GTS 911.
Wrong. It’s not the last of the NA Porsches. It’s the last of the NA Carreras.
Horsepower is not 240 .
'the interior has been completely revised' The only difference internally between the gen 1 and gen 2 is an updated radio/satnav console. Everything else is literally the same.
A GTS is just an S with a bunch of optional items as standard + some meaningless/nonsensical additional things like pointless centerlock wheels.
What’s this rattling sound which doesn’t associate with the flat-6 sound as we know it ?! 😎
Hard to see the comparisons when the cars are parked back to front
the 991.1 is water cooled...
I bought a 2016 991.1 GTS 6 months ago, with only 9,000 miles on it. GT Silver color, PDK, with ducktail. Upgraded the PCM and retro fitted front and back camera, for ease of parking. Added Kline innovation Inconel exhaust for improved sound quality. What a car now. It’s a keeper forever. 😅
Makes me wonder how does the maintenance cost of a 997.2 GTS compare against a 911.1 GTS.
All for the benefit of lesser peoples
Great cause and video
At the beginning of the video he said five speed when I thought they were 6 speed⁉️
Worth buying a 2014 in 2024/2025? Reliable ?
Just have the $ for the possible repairs. It isn't an affordable car.
@@TheJacksons1 What kind of repairs are you expecting and the costs for those repairs?
@youngh902 I do not have a 911. I did work for a Euro Repair/maintenance shop as the parts manager for a year. In that time, mostly regular maintenance was performed. I would not have a 911 without $10-$25k sitting on the side for emergency repairs. For instance, the wife drives a 19 A7. We have $15k saved back (just for the car) in case motor/transmission issues were to arise.
@youngh902 also I'm looking to get a 13-16 C4S when I find the one that fits our budget/goals. I currently have a Miata that is 3/4 track car used for Autocross.
@@TheJacksons1 I just bought a 2013 manual C4S this past weekend, absolutely worth it if you find one that has service records and previous owner that took care of it. It has 40k miles so just had the 40k mile service. Water pump is something worth noting in these engines but outside of that it's very reliable. I don't anticipate having any issues for a couple years as it just had ~7k worth of services for the 40k mile mark. Just be gentle with the window switches. I have a truck and the button travel is much greater for automatically rolling up. I accidentally snapped the porsche window button trying to pull up too high. All the buttons in the vehicle don't need a lot of force to function.
2015 was still N/A
16* 17-19 3.0t
This is a beauty right there Invictus. Love the ducktail
Thank you, not often you see them in this spec
How do i add apple car play to my 991.1 cS 2014? Wireless apple car play? I live in Texas
6 speed is absolutely the way to drive this gem. I have '96, love it.
Spot on, that’s why they are worth more money. Enjoy yours sir
When you close the doors, I don’t hear that Porsche ring, that my 993, and even my ‘69 911 have.
I will close it harder closer to the mic 🎙️ next time 😂
this is my dream car bro specially the 2005 Carrera S
Same…
It’s a stunning colour
Imho if you can't afford aGT3 wanting a new 911 look for a certified pre-owned 911.1 or earlier... HAS TO BE naturally aspirated!! What makes a911 special. Can't tamper with the heart and soul of any car.. When they put their 6 in all but 2 Ferraris.... Blasphemy!!!
I couldn’t disagree, this is a great car until you get to a gt3
Bought one loved it, just be mindful about the leaking panroof
The cayenne is prone to same issue. Glad you enjoyed yours
What color???
I will find out for you
I owned a 997.1 Carrera S for 3 years similar to the one in your video To be honest I thought it felt a little detached but not soulless. I understand your comments and love for this model if you are comparing to the later 991 and 992 versions . However if you want a TRULY engaging drive with a true experience with just the right addition of modern components. The answer to the best iteration of 911 has to be the 964 carrera 2 or R/S. I bought one a few years ago now and don’t miss the 997 , there’s no comparison. It truly is another level. The ultimate 911 , I’d say
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Glad you enjoyed the 964
Yo también quiero uno
Me too :)
I watched all your videos before getting a 997.2 last year. Best decision ever!
❤
Why NOT put the cars in the SAME position ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Really good point! Easier to compare like with like
The rarity is because it was a runout model for the 997 the 991 arrived in 2011, correct me if I am wrong
Did he say the car was like a complicated girlfriend and that's why he loves it? You do you bro.
Essentially essentially essentially… change your go-to filler word buddy…
I’m about to purchase a 2011 4s with 66K on the odometer. Thx for the video walk around! DRS in Washington DC
I’m looking at a 2006 Porsche cayman s. Supposedly it’s had excellent care, and has 108k miles. What should I expect if I constantly use it for the track like an hour per day?
Mine is a 2013 Porsche 991.1 Carrera S ordered from Germany by myself and owned since brand new with 0 miles. It now has only 17,000 miles on it.
Sounds like it is catless?
Not many talk about driving these things at top RPM. 100 boring. 110 gets rid of the RiffRaff. 120 to 175 Is where it starts. Slow by today's standards.
These cars are about the journey and not the top speed or how quickly it accelerates. You are correct plenty fast electric cars with no soul
Bro, the gts only started with the 997. Pedigree. Ok buddy, how about 60 years for the Carrera S…
Uh…Carrera S has standard 20” wheels ..just one of your oversights when buttlicking the GTS. And bro, they’re both 911 Carrera’s, you don’t need to say 911 Carrera S every time!
