So I got a 2006 Silverado 1500 that originally came with a 4.3L then I swap in a 6.0 lq9 with a 4l80e and now the cab has no power when turning the key. All engine grounds are connected as well as the battery. I checked fuses under the hood and inside the cab and there’s power but nothing turns on when key is turned to the on position. Only thing I get when the key is turned back and forth from the off/on position is a relay click from #5 Also Ecm has vats deleted
Kept it original and I tried swapping it to a 03 fuse panel I have and had no luck same result now I also have the throttle body open and close when key is flickered to the on/off position
It should be working then. Throttle body cycling indicates that the pcm has good power and ground. You connected the cab ground back to the engine right? The braided strap that runs from the firewall to the back of the drivers side cylinder head.
So glad I found your videos right when I'm starting my project. I think I'm going to have a little more trouble than you with the wiring since I'm going from a 02 Tahoe 4x4 to a 07 V6 Silverado 😂 you could be a teacher bro
Thanks man! It can be done, but you're going to have some substantial electronic issues to overcome. It'll save you a ton of time and frustration if you can find an engine harness and pcm from an 06 truck or suv, or an 07 classic pickup.
@@MohawkMotors I have the wiring harness and PCM from the 07 V6 still in the truck. I literally just got finished with pulling the 4.3 out. So do I need to find a harness and PCM from a V8 truck or just the PCM. I was leaning towards getting a stand alone but if I can do it for cheaper then I'm definitely going that direction
You'll need the harness and pcm from an 06 or 07 classic v8 truck. If you're going to do anything to the engine that will require it to be tuned, you'll probably be time and money ahead to go with a standalone system like holley terminator. If you can tune it yourself stock stuff is cheaper, but if you're going to pay a tuner, it's only a couple hundred dollars more to do Holley Terminator and they even make harnesses now to integrate into your factory dash so all your stock gauges still work. There's tons of ways to do what you're doing, some take more time and less money, others take more money and less time. Just depends on which resource you have more of to spare.
@@MohawkMotors awesome thank you sir I'm going with a stand alone. I put a Elgin stage 2 turbo cam and I have a gt45 cheap turbo and all I'm looking for is just a fun little truck nothing special I put multi layer steel head gaskets just in case I can upgrade the turbo some day. Thanks again bud
I have a 2001 Silverado took out my V6 going V8 that come out of GMC Yukon 2004 can I just change out my throttle body to make my Cable gas pedal work?
I did a v6 to v8 swap on my 2004 Silverado but the battery light is on and when I’m driving my dash says service brake buster do you know how I can fix that ? The 5.3 that went into my truck was from a 2005 Tahoe
The tahoe you got your engine and computer out of most likely had a GBCM, your silverado does not have a GBCM so that's why your battery light is on, there are a few videos from other guys on youtube that explain how to correct that issue. As far as the service brake booter light, the tahoe probably had a booster vacuum sensor, your silverado does now, so the pcm is looking for that data and can't find it, so that's why it's giving you that message.
@ could you give me a little more information on how to get rid of the battery light still can’t figure it out, can’t find any information on it on TH-cam thank you
what would cause no power to the transmission? and the throttle body stays idling high.? 2003 chevy silverado had a 5.3 i swapped a 6.0 off a 2002 cadillac escalade im using the 5.3 harness and fusebox
could be lots of things causing the high idle. No power to the transmission I would start by checking all the fuses and make sure you didn't accidentally pinch the harness between the engine and bellhousing when installing the transmission. Also check the transmission connector and make sure there's no bent or missing pins.
Can HP tuners turn off EGR, my truck is an 02 v6 that had the original motor replaced sometime a while back by previous owner and it was replaced with a non-egr motor. so the harness is there but there no where for the sensor to bolt on to so now i have a check engine light that i cant get rid of
Have you seen issues with the C2/C1 connection differences ? Im having a issue with truck not turning on going to recheck the pink and green taped harness like you mentioned
There are some differences on the C2 connector between the 99 to 02 and 03 to 07 classic trucks. Double check that you didn't miss a wire. The C100 and C152 connectors also have some differences between the 99 to 02 and 03 to 07classic trucks and even between different trim levels. Have to do some thorough detective work on those
Your 06 silverado bcm and gauge cluster will be looking for a signal from a GBCM (Ground Battery Control Module), the 03 silverado didn't have one. Other than that, the 03 and 06 drive by wire throttle pedals are different, you'll probably need to get the throttle pedal bracket from an 03 to 05 truck to mount your throttle pedal if you want it to look factory.
@@MohawkMotors thanks bro I just subbed I plan on doing this to my s10 that has the same setup should be same for me glad you showed the works thank you
Hey Jayson, I'm looking to swap in a 8.1 into my m1028 chevy square. I need the van accessory bracket I believe to not notch frame. From what I hear they are rare. You wouldn't know where to pick one up at do you? Or maybe you part number?
A van accessory bracket for an 8.1, man that's a rare piece. You could probably find one on ebay, identify which year express vans had the 8.1 engine as an option, then search for accessory brackets for that year van. For example "2002 express 3500 8.1 accessory bracket" I got a bunch of results just typing that in real quick. Good luck!
What’s up man I’m in the middle of swapping a 6.0 into a 2004 Silverado but the engine I got it off a 2000 truck do I have to get the 2004 harness and make it dbw or can I use the 2000 harness and fuse box etc?? Thanks
You can use the dbc harness and fuse panel original to the engine, but you'll need to find an 04 or 05 PCM from a van. your 2004 truck uses the CAN communication system, 99 to 02 PCM's don't have that capability, and the only 03 to 05 V8 DBC engines were in vans. Can probably find a good pcm in the junkyard or online from a 04 or 05 2500 or 3500 series van with a 6.0

If you used the computer and harness original to the truck, then I would suspect a bad sensor on the engine you put in. Possible cam or crank sensor losing sync. Does it have any trouble codes or check engine light on?
Yup, just drilled and tapped for the bolts. It's not super thick, but all those bolts are doing is holding the tach module that weighs practically nothing so I'm not worried about it being a small amount of thread engagement.
Did you have any left over connectors that come from the body up to the fuse box. Like the single blue wire connector in the fuse box and a 3pin with brown black and grey wires
IT's been a bit here so I'm stretching the limits of my memory. If I remember correctly, the 3 pin connector with brown black and gray is for 4wd for the front differential actuator, a 2wd truck will not have the connector to plug into it so you could have that plug left over if you are using a 4wd engine harness (it's integrated into the engine harness). The single blue wire connector I didn't have and can't remember off the top of my head what it's for.
