It really is, I think I've learned my lesson now for sure, better to leave the sandblasting to the professionals. Also, seems like a very strong reaction over an outside mess.

Did you keep the fuse panel original to the truck or switch it?

Kept it original and I tried swapping it to a 03 fuse panel I have and had no luck same result now I also have the throttle body open and close when key is flickered to the on/off position

It should be working then. Throttle body cycling indicates that the pcm has good power and ground. You connected the cab ground back to the engine right? The braided strap that runs from the firewall to the back of the drivers side cylinder head.

Hard to say then. You'll have to hunt down your issue, I've never had this problem.

Yes Pennsylvania does the same thing, they call it a cab swap, they basically just reassign the VIN of the new cab, to what the frame/chassis originally was. In this case I'm using a 1500 truck as the cab donor, and Pennsylvania will just reassign that VIN as a 2006 2500HD

Yes you can make the 4.3 radiator work. BUT it's not correct, although it is capable of keeping the Ls engine cool, it does not have the port for the steam line that runs from the cylinder head, through the throttle body, and over to the radiator to purge air from the cooling system.

Wall Warts are crap! Get a variable voltage regulated supply of 5 amps and set for 13.0 volts. ECMs don't like less than 12v and get about 13.6 or so when engine is running! Look at a wall wart power supply with a oscilloscope, They put out more AC than DC!!!

Connect the Battery + pin in the trailer connector to the positive terminal of the battery. Connect the - pin in the trailer connector to the negative terminal of the battery

I've honestly never noticed it, but maybe it's because I've been in it so long. You're probably right about the female helper increasing my growth. I doubt my wife would be thrilled and honestly the workshop is kind of my sanctuary, I'm not really interested in any company. That said I have been trying to convince my wife to spend more time down there with me, I'll keep working on her.

You could go either way, if your fuel lines and sending unit are in good shape, I would get an engine with return style fuel rails, if you're planning to replace the fuel lines or sending unit I would just upgrade to returnless system.

@MohawkMotors the fuel lines are getting replaced either way, but I'm wondering how much other stuff needs to get replaced to switch to returnless. New fuel pump, purge lines and all that and then wondering if I would need to swap the whole main wiring harness that goes back to the fuel pump and stuff.

So here's what you have to think about. Any 2003 or newer V8, is factory programmed for a returnless style fuel system, so if you convert the engine to return style, you'll need to get a custom tune, if that's already part of your plan, then go with a return style system and it'll save you from having to mess with the chassis harness. If you weren't planning on getting a custom tune, then I would go with a returnless system that will work with the factory 03 or newer pcm. Since your truck is an 04, you're stuck using an 03 or newer pcm since GM went to CANBUS communication in 03. If you try to use an 02 or earlier pcm in your 04 truck then you are going to have a whole other mess of electrical issues to figure out. If it were my truck, I would just get a new fuel sending unit and stainless fuel lines for an 04 version of the truck that came with V8, and change the plugs on the chassis harness to match it. The v6 and v8 sending units have the same functions in 04, evap, fuel pump, fuel level, but for whatever reason GM used 2 different style electrical connections on the sending units. You may even be lucky and your v6 ending unit has the right plugs to match the v8 sending unit.

@MohawkMotors alright, I was under the impression that 03 v8s still used the return fuel so I could do an 03 engine and wiring to keep the original fuel system. But most likely I will swap to the returnless system. Thanks for the help.

Some 03's did have return style, lower trim models mostly.
