Hi: I bought a highway man harness for my GMC 6.2 engine this summer. It started a few times just briefly . Once I got all the fuel, trans and rad all hooked up, it decided not to run anymore. Watched several videos and checked my wiring again. No good still. Can you tell me something that might help. Thanks. Robert
My Ls1 was doing similar things although I never had a MAF connected so it was over-fuelling pretty bad. It ended up fouling the plugs which stopped it from eventually starting when cold. Could be something as simple as that
hello!! thanks for your video. What about the oil pressure sensor? It seems to me that this harness lacks this connector. Should an aftermarket one be placed towards the PCM?
I’m 15 doing a ls swap on my 1935 hudson so it’s really my first time doing this. but I ordered a harness and it has female end 02 sensor plugs when I need male. Could I start it with out plugging those in?
If you are using the harness that I show in the video then you must have the wrong O2 sensors, none of the harnesses I have bought had the wrong O2 connectors on them. The engine will start without the O2s hooked up but I would double check what connectors you are looking at and what O2 sensors you have.
hello!! I have some questions regarding how to energize the PCM. Should the red wire from the relay center of the wiring harness come from the ignition switch in the key on and crank position? Should the starter solenoid cable also come from the ignition switch in the Cranking position? Am I correct in all this? BTW my wiring harness is for a DBW engine. THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!!
Correct, small red wire from the relay center needs 12v when key is in the on position and also when key is in cranking position. Starter solenoid gets 12v from ignition switch when in cranking position.
sure, just tie up the trans connector out of the way. I am using a 60e harness with a TH400, just didnt plug in the trans connector. You will still need the VSS connection.

There is a 3" by 1" sensor on top of the vortec intake at the front. looks like a 2 wire plug. The plug that is left over that leads up to the front of the engine has a 4 or 5 pin plug. any Ideas?
you probably bought this one th-cam.com/video/wOrzoz0CUuw/w-d-xo.html They are not all the same, I have found two variations so far of the 99-02 DBC. IMO this one with two MAF connector sets is the cheapest and it feels like a low quality harness, I have to inspect it further before putting it on a build.
They do but like everyone else they are wired based on the LS1 prints and need to use EV1 to multec adapters. I have one on my 55 Buick, I re-pinned it to match the vortec prints and used the adapters, runs great. The JY harness comes with the LS1 3 pin MAF and 2 pin IAT connectors, so you will need to get a Vortec 5 pin MAF/IAT connector to splice in and replace those if using the Vortec truck MAF.
@@Charlie-Oberley I watched his videos and ordered EV1 injectors. Mines different because I didn’t get a running motor and had to put things together. But I repinned and added where he said and mine popped off first time.

Did you turn off VATS? Needs to be turned off in the tune, otherwise the security system will shut off the injectors. I use multiple programs to do this, some are free if you are computer savvy. Easiest way is to have someone do it for you, because you are going to want to turn off the un-needed DTC codes as well since this is going into an older vehicle. Look up youtube videos on turning off VATS with tunerpro, LSdroid, pcmhammer, etc. If you are not using the Tahoe steering column, Tahoe key, and Tahoe wiring including the BCM you are going to need the PCM programmed.
I ordered one of these and I did not know it mounts the ecu inside the vehicle. I have a 72 c10 with air conditioning and I do not have real estate inside the vehicle for an ecu. Has anyone mounted the ecu under the hood with this harness? I ordered this harness to replace an aging factory harness and i currently have the ecu mounted under the hood on the forward drivers side. There is no room under the dash and I have very little room under the seat because I’m using late model Silverado seats.
DO NOT mount the PCM or the fuse box on the harness under the hood, the connectors and fuse box are not weatherproof like the factory parts. Mount it up under the dash somewhere, even under the seat would be better than in the engine compartment.
@@rust_hoarder_garage I don’t have that option, my ac takes up the real estate that a pcm would go. I don’t like putting the pcm under the seat because I actually drive this truck and sometimes I put things behind the seat I can see how they can get to the pcm harness and damage a wire.
What about inside the globe box? It would be worth it. If not then I would silicone all of the PCM connector ports where the wires go into the connectors, especially the open ones. Same deal with the fuse box, I would silicone where the wires go into the box and make a gasket to seal the top to the fuse box base. Mount it where water cannot run off a gutter and drip onto the PCM or fuse box. Could make a box to put the PCM in as well.
@@rust_hoarder_garage I’m not opposed to re-pinning the ecu with a factory set of connectors. I have a running driving ls swap but when i tried to downsize the fuse box I ended up with a transmission code. My factory harness is old and has been repaired many times, the entire leg to the transmission was spliced in because it came from a rolled truck. I am looking for a replacement harness to my 21 year old harness, when I got it in 2010 it wasn’t that old but now it is, I also have broken connectors here and there. The re wiring a factory harness doesn’t scare me but since the gen 3 harnesses are now 20 years old I would like a new one if I am going to go through all that work to fix mine. Re pinning the ecu connector may not be a bad thing. If I mount the ecu inside I would have to get rid of the glove box, it will not fit with the glove box, the ac unit is directly behind it and a vent hose to the center vent is there.
Ok cool. Just bought the harness from jy perfomance. DBW 4l80e. I seen you had a video on reworking a harness for dbc. Is there any reworking needed for the DBW?
I have only used the 4L60e DBW harness which has been plug and play, I would verify the 80e trans plug wiring, plus if it is like the DBC harness you would have to add the 80e 2nd speed sensor wiring to the PCM. I have not purchased a DBW / 80e harness, if I need an 80e it means turbo, and for me that means DBC.

WOW the work bench is very organized. LOL
Thank you, I pride myself on a clean work space :D
Where did you get ECU from? Donor or purchased online?
PCM came with the engine, factory tune, I turned off VATS to start it. Unneeded DTCs will be turned off when I swap it.
Do they have harness for L83 on the site
its from ebay, check there
How are you getting fuel to the engine without powering the fuel pump?
the fuel pump is powered off the battery for the test. I have a remote fuel system connected, silverado sending unit with pump in a 5 gallon race gas can.
Did u need to flash your pcm from this.
yes, at the minimum you need VATS turned off for it to run, then turn off any DTCs not needed.
Would you happen to have the link for the harness
No but I got it from eBay, part number is in the video made by JY Performance
@@andresacevedo6535 I luckily bought the same harness and followed his video and mine started first push. Took me a little bit because I’m not great with electricity. But watched his video and it worked.
What could go wrong? 🙂
p59 or 01? pc hammer or sloppy tune cab?
This is a 2003-2007 classic DBW harness, so is a P59. Stock tune from the factory PCM that came with the engine with VATS turned off .
Yes sir how did you delete the vats
Ls droid and tunerpro
Can you explain how to do it if it’s not to much
@@RawTonyChevybuild much easier to watch videos on it, plenty on youtube.
Thanks brother
Can I send my computer to you and you delete the vats and I pay you
Will this harness work for DBC
No it is a drive by wire harness. I am building a 1956 Chevy truck that is getting LS swapped soon, it is DBC and videos will cover that harness. Check out the build videos if interested.
@rust_hoarder_garage I definitely will and I'm going to subscribe to your channel thanks
very cool, thanks!
Everything is connected like yours but will not crank or sound like it want to crank
Impossible to troubleshoot across the net, watch the L33 video that goes over inspection of the engine and injector testing, maybe it will help. I have multiple videos with these harnesses.
Seem like I’m not getting fuel to injectors or something
The L33 video tied to this harness video goes over more that may help, impossible to troubleshoot over the net.
Do you happen to have the link for that wiring harness? And I have a 5.3 out of a 2009 silverado it's not a drive by wire but I need a harness for that as well, you happen to have any info on a harness for that by chance? Thanks
Part number for the harness is in the video description and in the video. Harness is for gen 3 only.
@rust_hoarder_garage what's a gen 3? What years?
1999 to early 2007, P01/P59 PCMs. Take the time to research before attempting a swap.
@@rust_hoarder_garage thank you!!! The thing is that I already have an engine/tranny out of a 2009 silverado but no harness, therefore my inquiries,
No Ebay harnesses that I know of for gen4, Nathan Wei is probably the cheapest option.
Link to the harness? Typed in the part number to google and a DBC came back. 🫡
Search EBay for DAC095 harness, brand will be JY Performance. They are also an eBay seller and have an eBay store.
