Hello, I’m writing from Italy. After 14 years of using iPhones (fourteen!), I decided to switch to the Honor V3. I really like it and I’m enjoying the experience so far! However, there’s one thing I’m not entirely convinced about, and I wanted to get your opinion on it. First of all, I completely agree with your video, but I’ve encountered an issue with the internal screen. I often let my 5-year-old son use the phone for gaming, and of course, he prefers using it with the screen open. Normally, he uses it near me, and I always remind him to use only his fingertips, not his nails. The other day, we were at a lunch with friends, and some other kids wanted to try it out (again, with the screen open). At the end of the day, I noticed scratches on the internal screen caused by their nails. Essentially, if you run a nail over the internal screen, it leaves a permanent mark, even with light pressure. I can’t say whether it’s just the protective film getting scratched or the screen itself. As far as I know, the internal protective film on the V3 should never be removed. I’d really appreciate your opinion on this. Thank you so much!
As it stands today, no foldable phone is going to be risk free from scratching or 'grooving' from finger nails etc. It's due to the nature of the actual screen but more importantly, the screen protector that is used naturally has to be soft and flexible. This unfortunately can cause the deeper and more permanent scratches we are talking about. I have removed the internal screen protector on every Z Fold I have used without any issues previously but due to the nature of having to import this phone and warranty etc I have not removed the screen protector on the V3. I don't think I will either just because it is performing so well (my daughters are 15 now so I am lucky as they have their own phones to use 😂) My experience is that they can self heal in time depending on how deep etc but once they have those deeper scratches they are there for good for the most part. The option is too remove the protector, there are many videos doing so but if I ever get the courage I will let you know... Thanks for watching and I hope that helps!
@OlyGoalie67 First of all, thank you for the quick response. I knew that your experience with foldables could give me precise guidance in my case. If it helps, even in Italy, where Honor has official distribution, the customer service is quite inadequate. They don’t answer the phone, and when you send something for repair, it can stay out for weeks and weeks. The chat is based in China with an automatic translator, which comes with all the complications you can imagine. Regarding the internal screen of the V3, from what I know, it is strongly advised not to remove the internal film as it is considered an integral part of the screen. I know some people have removed it, but honestly, I wouldn’t know what to say about it. In your opinion, are these scratches only on the superficial film, or also on the underlying screen? I’ve tried looking online for videos where the film is removed from the V3, but I haven’t found any. What do you mean by self-repair?
For the most part, those scratches are likely in the film itself, underneath that film is very, very thin glass and the nature of the soft, flexible screen needed for folding requires that flexibility. Those nail 'gouges' are likely in the screen protector itself and some of these films they use today have 'self healing' abilities but to a certain level only. The Samsung phones also highly recommended not removing the inside protector but I still did it and it was fine. Again, not in anyway recommending it but the idea of an anti glare screen is also tempting. I will not tempt fate... For now 😂
Also, the smaller thinner scratches would indeed be on the film itself and likely would not carry through to the internal UT glass below. Also, as the protective film needs to be more flexible to 'move' with the opening and closing of the phone, it is more rubbery than hard plastic like the outer display screen protectors that aren't tempered glass, peel those off and they are very hard and plastic like versus the more softer and flexible internal ones.
Camera is at least half the reason for choice of cell . Many years ago, you had directed my attention to the value of Samsung c cells, and you and I have used that brand exclusively for well over a decade. I've been pleased with Samsung cameras. It actually has that function. How is it like, and does it connect wirelessly, too? Thanks!
@@fchaabo Thanks for watching and the sub as well. I would rank the Magic OS to One UI as a 10... 1. the V3 software is every bit as capable and in some options I would rate it better but certainly not worse on any level. 2. There have been a few times where I have been very impressed and I had forgotten this was this ridiculously thin phone making this amazing sound. 3.
