I apologise for audio level problems towards the end of the video. I've tried to level them, but its still noticable.

I own the ko. I love it. I think all the ratchets make it the better figure. I sold my takara one after getting it the official was way too lose for my liking. For half the price I think it’s twice the figure.

Man, that's BS that someone crunched your box. In spite of the flaws, for the price point, I don't think this KO Soundwave is half bad. Thank you for the excellent review and the comparisons with the official are fantastic.

I bought this figure and everything is on par to what you said! Easy paint chipping so it’s more for posing, and Laserbeak is kind of weak- mine actually broke because it’s tail fin was too tight, however I can pretty much just pass him off as battle damaged
Awesome review, literally made me check to see if my version was a KO or a genuine. That bounce rave was awesome to see all the Soundwave boys turn it up!
Actually most of the paint issues you had on the KO, I have on my Takara as well, in some cases even worse on one of my leg panels. My THF version is coming soon so I'll compare it with that.
Thats a real shame. I have the original Takara from years ago and it's near immaculate :(

I picked up the worst of the three KO options, not the THF one, but the Chinese copy with some spotty paint jobs. The hands suck to the point where they broke. I’m going to get the KFC hands, as it is cheaper than getting the superior THF figure, at least for now. Thank you for sharing this video, it is very helpful.

Just had the THF KO Sonicwave AKA Soundwave. It looks the same as the 1st ko Soundwave ko with 1 bird tape that was released recently,

Great Comparison review! I recently got the Hasbro Reissue and it's awesome but man do I hate how they didn't paint the inside of the foot silver. Keep up the good work and more BOUNCE.!!! Haha
MP13 really is one of those MP's that the designers just nailed. It's difficult to imagine how it could be meaningfully improved.

I've found the best optimus to be the wei Jiang version MPP10. Mine is stellar.

Kinda like all those ratchets, could forgive the paint apps, but the wobbly on the hips kinda kills it for me. I'll wait for another KO, as always great review. "Original Soundwave superior, KO inferior ".....awesome!!!!!🐴
I must be the only one who scored a really decent one of these.... I guess I won the KO lottery! All the joints are nice, there are no ratchet issues in the hips, the silver paint is actually done quite well, and the other paint apps are clean. Transformation was tight but everything tabs together really well, including the arms.The Decepticon logo was still shithouse though, and when I prepared the surface to apply a reprolabel with isopropyl alcohol, the logo washed off......lol.
Great review! I've been trying to fish for a MP-13 Soundwave for quite a while now... I'm not sure whether to get the original Takara or this KO model... because I've heard good things about the KO, unfortunately you didn't get the good KO. I don't know whether you've received a replacement for this KO but if you did, better than the original or no?
OrionMagnus a replacement is out of the question. My THF MP13 review is very nearly finished however.

I am kinda interested by the Ratchet (fully functional or not) as that seems like an interesting selling feature of a number of Ko's lately.
I'd actually be pretty Interested in an overscale and an Underscale too. also any kooky colours someone decides to make (like say Machine Wars colours) would be fun too.
I will likely wait and see what the at least one of the others is like before I decide to buy - I just want something to fiddle with so whichever ones transforms smoothly and is poseable is appealing to me - so those new hands are a plus for sure. I think the KO is a nice match to the KFC Blaster. I don't actually want any Cassettes at all (unless they are new moulds or colours) I'd be interested in metallic colours for example or clear tints.
Actually a Clear Soundwave would be kinda nice too.
One of them is on my list for sure as I have no intention of paying a lot more for the official I might just get a cheap Year of the Goat one and buy one of the KO's as the fiddle-former one.
Part of me would prefer a slightly lighter blue though. I am also one of the people who likes Yellow eyes more too. But over and underscale would be more useful to me i'd say than default size. as I don't much like MP scale as a scale. I like things a bit bigger or smaller than that size. I'm atypically disinterested in MP's anyway they seem a bit niche and elitist to me. But Soundwave is one of those Characters who has a lot of appeal I just never saw one cheaper than £80.00 and I didn't want to pay that when I already had all the cassettes. But I'll get him ones day no doubt - I'm just really slack about buying MP's as I don't tend to enjoy their Transformations at all.
Robot Heroes have told me Soundblaster & Shattered Glass are a possibility, but it depends on how well Soundwave sells really. I agree with the clear Soundwave. In the "Bounce" part of my vid you'll briefly see a YOTG I repainted transparent blue ;)
I must've been lucky because I don't have any paint issues, have a perfect logo, the chrome is nice and even, laserbeak grips onto his shoulders just fine, I mean literally no issues, looks fantastic. Laserbeak is the standard laserbeak k.o. So it has all of the issues that come with it, paint was fine on mine though. The only complaint I really have is the plastic quality of the hip joints/ratchets. Must be extremely careful with them because it seems like they can bend and snap because of their tightness. They sit completely flush though and I have no problems between clicks. Overall a fantastic k.o., blows ths out of the water. A little plastic lube goes a long way though. You can also unscrew them, invert the ratchets and you get extremely tight friction joints if you want so it's more like takaras.same fix on the ko shockwave.also should note that laserbeak should be lubricated right out the box, it improves the "tolerance issues". Also if you shop smart this guy unboxed is only $50 dollars shipped to the u.s. Always go unboxed with soundwave or shockwave. The seller can't act like they didnt see a bunch of issues and will send you one that isn't a mess or floppy piece of shit(shockwave)and let's face it, the boxes aren't the same quality as they once were when the Lambors and nissans first came out so why pay more for them and end up with a gnarly figure.

I have the ToyHouseFactory (if I remember that name right) Shadow Wave knock off. Very pleased with it other than it's magic bat cassette tape which within a short amount of time, the pieces decided to attempt to peel apart through only gentle transformation, no abuse. Anyways, I inevitably got a masterpiece Soundwave that came with the LaserBeak cassette tape. After comparing and contrasting the two almost identical transformers, I noticed Shadow wave had compartments in his feet that turned out to be empty. I then looked to Soundwave, and he has the same compartments in the exact same spots on the feet, but they weren't empty. Each foot had a gun looking thing in each foot, that each looked like they attached to something, but not each other for what I could tell. They mystery for me is what are they and where do they go?
Pretty sure theyre for Rumble & frenzy.
So this is the one I buy to play with!
When transforming it a panel inside the arm broke so he arm is lose and cannot hold his arm up
Is it better to buy one of the KOs and just buy the MP tapes?
Biggest problem with KO Soundwaves seems to be the tapes. The MP tapes will fit won't they?
Interesting. Laserbeak's feet in tape mode have a bend to them? I'm not sure if the Takara had that issue, but, I have encountered that with my Hasbro Year of the Goat version...
Very well done, descriptive video! I am very much interested in this bot, I have three other KO's with the most recent I got was Tracks and I'm very happy with him. I also have Sideswipe and think he's overall the best looking but I had some issues with him.

the funny part is that soundwave is an easy mold to copy (not like a perfect effect leo i mean) and for soooo many years no1 did it BUT now there are 3 lol its like those ko companies comunicate and go like ""lets all make them soundwaves yeeeeeee"""" better for us though because we now have options, for example i cant afford takara so ill go with thf 5 cassetes for +-20 euros its nice
I agree. MP13 is one of them near perfect figures. You ant really imagine how they'd make it better. Better feet maybe? idk... This KO went overboard and it didn't work out lmao.

I bought this guy for comparison, it’s not that bad and I enjoy the individual fingers. Unfortunately one of the shoulder ratchet joints broke while transforming.

My KO Soundwave has horrible hands. They can't hold his gun at all. One of the shoulder panels was completely blank. I wish I had forked over the extra cash for the official version.

I havent had much of a play with THF as of yet (it only arrived the other day) and I'll be doing a new video for it ASAP. But at the moment I feel THF is the better purchase. The paint is about the same, it comes with all the tapes for only a little more money. My THF had a couple of major issues, so you may want to wait a little while to see a video on what they were ;)
Sandro Soria Hidalgo I have both, the thf one had a bunch of issues and runs about 100-110 shipped, this one cost around 55 shipped w/o the box and was perfect. The ko cassettes are going for around 19 shipped so you can always get the ones you actually want and still be paying less than the inferior ths version. I had no paint issues at all with my laserbeak but these are kos and it's all about luck of the draw. For example my laserbeak clips on to his shoulders as well. I deliberately ordered mine without the box,one to save 15 bucks, two it's a seller I deal with all the time and I could ask for him to pull me one with great paint,etc so that's probably another reason mine didn't have these issues.when you get the box, you get whatever's inside.i prefer this over my legit takara version. Will be selling off the ths version and preordering the robot heroes version.

Why did takara make soundwave come with lazerbeak not buzzsaw?
The closest I've got is that its because Lazerbeak is more popular than Buzzsaw.

So I have watched this review twice. First time because I was planning to buy knock off. Because reasons ended up buying official. When I was sketched out about whether or not my soundwave was good or not. Came to this video again. IT WAS SO STRESSFUL CUZ LIKE I WAS WATCHING THE VIDEO, PAUSED CHECKING MY BOX AND TOY EVERY TEN SECONDS TO MAKE SURE IT MATCHED TO THE TAKARA AND I AM STILL STRESSES BECAUSE THE REC BATT BUTTON ON MY TOY IS RED AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BLACK AND I SPENT GOOD MONEY AND AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH.

Could anyone help me with the tape (just laserbeak that came with him) getting stuck inside his Cassette door? Without a tape, the door opens great! But now when I put the tape in, it won’t fully open and I have to be careful to not break anything. Also, if there’s any way to get Laserbeak to actually sit safely on the shoulder or forearm grooves, I would be very appreciative! It my first KO- I love him, but be much better if his insert/eject worked with included Laserbeak.

I like the real fingers of the KO better than the hands on the Takara they are totally different.
A lot of people have a love/hate relationship with those hands as they're the Takasa hands from oversized Sideswipe and OS MP11, and were problematic when enlarged ^_^
You get what you pay for, not for finicky buyers, looks good to me.
So what's the price difference between the 2 and where can you get the KO version?
People please this is not a totally fair review in mine opinion. He received a very bad one with a totally beaten up box. I have this one too and it's actuyally very good. Yes it got some minor issues but it's a lot cheaper than the official one! Better it was to send this back and ask for a better one to review. Just like his laserbeak... mine fits perfect in his cassette and on his shoulder...

Yeah thank god because if mine was yours I definitely would complain and ask replacement. Mostly for that laserbeak! They should have send you a replacement for that one! But the problem people are now thinking they all get it like this... and you also saying they can better wait for the THF version or the more expensive Takara Tomy. But if you want it with decepticon logo's and don't have a high butget this is really not that bad! I am freaking happy with it. Just saying that. It's a shame and painfull you got one with so many issues...
Mine is also Much better. Laserbeak fix perfect in the cassette. Also the legs don't have that problem t hey go all the way up with 4 clicks on both sides. The only problem I got is that his shoulder on the left side is Really strong attached.. so strong he need to use force to unlock it. Now I've done it a few times it's better but now... but I though I would break it... so much force was needed to open it up. Thank god it didn't break! But besides that A lot better than this one from Bots and Bits. Feel a bit sorry for you buddy!
Jeroen Bogert I had the same toughness in the shoulder in the video :) I pried the shoulder open as well and after a few times its now fine :)
Yeah and the paintjob is a bit more sloppy compared to the original but not as sloppy as yours fortuantly. But again for the money I spend for it. Really well worth it! YOu also read and hear more and more complaints about the original HASBRO re-release version. So Luck also involves it!
i'm aI want to buy the original on Ebay, but I am afraid that it would be a KO, as in the description of the product they say TAKARA TOMY and it is like 100 dollars, I am afraid that it is not the real one
I just got the Hasbro reissue and it has similar problems if not more than the KO version here. Lots of sprew marks and loose joints esp in the the cassettes like ravage and lazerbeak. For an official release I was very dissapointed in the quality. All the kos that I do have are in better quility then the offical one.
Sorry to hear that. I used to have the first release Hasbro from a few years ago and it was fantastic quality. Takara have two major factories apparently, Vietnam & china I think. Figures from one often have issues over the other.

Thats a real shame. I have first release Takara MP13, and also used to own the original Hasbro. Both were exemplary Masterpieces.
I hear a lot of similar complaints lately in regards to the reissue :(

Love the real fingers make''s it more alive! So I guess you got a protoype or a bad first batch. Mine chinese guy said that the first few that where send out where indeed with those problems you mentioned in your video... he also did get complains and they fixed that. But the new ones are just fine. See mine picture for proof! So it's actually not completely a fair view that people get... you just got a bad first print. I understand that you want to review it but so you know all those problems (not aligned knee's / chrome problems, bad paintjob / wrong clicking ratchets on the legs, Ratched that doesn't fit in well and open up)... thats not the case anymore. So you know it. And I can definitly recommend this to people for the money that you paid for.

If you can afford the Hasbro, and dont mind the yellow eyes. Grab the official in my opinion.

RH is 1:1 MP scale. Also, their 3P original decepticon tapes are compatible with Takara/Hasbro :)

This was a nice review, but you really need to zoom in when your trying to show something the size of a fingernail, or show small paint chips.

I sold my first release Hasbro many years ago. But I remember being more impressed with Takara, and this keeping it.

@@feqol unbranded kos in takara boxes are usually the worst quality of all available ko's. Some are ok, but its a real gamble.

Whatever you can afford, and what ever works for your collection my friend. I wouldn't recommend adding these ratchets to an official though.. personally :P The frictions on the offical, in my experience, are very good :)
Nah I was making a joke (albeit a failed one it seems :P). The premise of which was: "Why cant you all do a complete and flawless figure for a change?" I am waiting for the Robot hero one and then I am gonna decide.
