It was a good gimmick, you would scan and print the energon cube, cut it up and put it in the box as a liner making it look like a glowing energon cube.
I was about to ask why the review seemed a little messier than usual, not to mention that the video looks a little more orange than normal, but after seeing the comment about it being a lost review, I can easily understand why there seems to be a little dip in quality. Otherwise, it's a great review on a great figure, so keep it up man!
The blockyness of the figure makes it more easy to make more alternative modes, i make: a base mode, a train mode, a gun/crossbow mode, a sort of scorpion mode, and of course the classic cybertronian streetlight, making him a sort of SevenChanger. Also, the minicons can have alternatives modes to complement all the other modes of Soundwave, like a tank and airship modes to Rumble and Frenzy, a turret and axe mode to Ratpack, a car and crossbow mode to Ravage, and manny more.
Oh boy. Thanks for reminding me how bummed I am that I never got this figure. He came out just as I was getting back into Transformers and I could not set aside the money to get him before he disappeared. Here is to hoping that I can find him somewhere down the line. Hell, at this point I would not mind a KO along the lines of the Carbot ones.
He can actually handle three cassettes. The backing of the internal cavity moves back, and the switch on his back will push it forward one cassette's worth at a time.
Ok I love that figure. Pitty it's a masterpiece fig because the cost. But then again I'd be paying about the same for a G1 fig off Ebay or elsewhere. May just have to save up for Soundwave. Him Optimus, Bumblebee, Tantrum and Seaspray are some of my fave figs from G1. Seaspray oddly enough is the top of the list since I have so many memories of him on a long ago Christmas day. Second, I seem to remember from reading a TFWiki article that the -world's goofiest tricycle- Autoscout from that one episode is included as an accessory. Not a bad Masterpiece G1 Soundwave, but his red eyes are supposed to be yellow and most of his blue parts are supposed to be a lighter shade of blue and not a darker shade of blue.
Seeing as how no one else has said this, you can plug the little scanner thing onto what was his butt in robot mode while he is in cassette player mode for storage.
the radar thing an either plug ontho his left side(one of the panels to cover the leg joints), or his...butt, for storage in alt mode, and he can hold up to three mini cassettes inside his chest(the panel is spring loaded)
He missed a thing, he can hold 3 cassettes by pushing the back piece in the back, to make it get back to the front, push the tab on the back of Soundwave or push it down
They put the index finger in the set because if you but the hand up to the side of his head with only the index finger out it will look like it's comuticating with Megatron
Cant say i agree with you in him being a perfect rendition of Soundwave. First of all the head is wrong, hes a walking computer and hes not supposed to look angry or display any emotion at all, but noo no reviewer so far notices that huge error. Its okay with the batteries on the side for the gimmick of having 3 tapes in 1 go, i can buy that. But he looks cluttered or buzy in the back in both modes that way. The gimmick itself seldom works as its supposed to on both the Takara and Hasbro versions making it feel like him holding a test product every time i use that gimmick and it annoys the hell out of me. Both fingers are tiny as hell and the first thing that happens when you open up his palms is that a tiny piece of plastic flys off and he will be missing his index finger very soon, making you crawl on the floor for that tiny piece. If it was a beatiful 3rd party product i wouldnt mind it wouldnt be used as a toy, or at all. But this is TakaraTomy and Hasbro were talking about, and thats not acceptable at all. Soundwave is a communications expert, so you expect he would have some way to communicate with lets say Megatron, so what to do? a wrist communicator would fit like a glove, he even used 1 several times in the show, but noo we get a fucking scanner he used for 3 seconds in its entirely never to be seen again, what a waste of plastic!!!!!

The reason the back looks cluttered in robot mode is because of the extra holders for the batteries and the function for the shoulder cannon/amplifier, and in deck mode he has the batteries on the side of the storage area as opposed to like the G1 toy inside his back box. Yes it is the best soundwave we can get right now, but it halted another 3rd party attempt that looked way better than what we got, and no its not THE best they can do but the best they could be bothered to do.

Who cares if no one uses cassettes anymore, Soundwave is still cool! :) But as well as the battery issue, it would have been awesome if he could hold two cassettes at once, though that's probably what Takara-Tomy has in mind for MP Soundblaster? :D

I was in a thrift store a few days ago and saw little mini transformers from 1998. they were all vehicles and about 1 inch long. what are they from? should I have bought them? they had 6 bags of them with about 3-4 per bag but they were 14.99$ a bag.

from what i heard the cassettes made for this figure rarely get stuck, it's just the older cassettes that get stuck since less limbs lock in place

To flip out Laserbeak's head, you can push the notch on the other side with your thumb. That should release his head just enough.
