The Pieces Of A Dream story must be told. These brothers were/are phenomenal! Ushered in by the legendary Grover Washington Jr. this group had always been among the elite. They deserve their props now!
Yup. Just amazing that James was 19 when he played this. (If you want to see him do a solo the PREVIOUS year, when he was even younger, check out this clip, and fast forward to about 2:10 if you want to skip to his piece. th-cam.com/video/UyzY8UlfKuw/w-d-xo.html)
Never before I have I witnessed such a performance, and I thought Aretha Franklin could beat the heck out of a piano!!!! I love these guys, and I love this song.
This song popped in my head this morning and it took me a minute to find it. It is still as beautiful as I remember it from the 80's when I first heard of Pieces of A Dream. My dude was feeling every note on that piano and the arrangement was so smooth with just the right touch of pizzazz. Love it, thanks for sharing.
James Lloyd (piano) and Curtis Harmon (drums) still make CDs and tour as Pieces of a Dream. You can follow them on Facebook. So glad you enjoyed this - I love this live performance!
Damn! They burned that down! Outstanding!
To me this is the best instrumental covering of this timeless classic

Encore. Encore.. encore......🥂🎼🌟🎶💫🎵✨⭐💯😍🍸🍹
Wow. As the song goes longer, more energy is expressed in the piano solo.. Sweet....

I found myself watching it again on 11/12/21..4 years later, and it still sounds as good as it did when I left my earlier comment four years ago.
Jimmy, you KILLED ITTT!!!!!!!
It’s the first time I’ve seen their hit TSOYS done live. Very nice!
I saw this version on public television before I heard the recorded version, and I have to say that the live version can’t be matched, for me. ❤️
If most people worked on their marriage as hard as he worked on them keys...there would be no divorce. Yasssss!!!!!
Really nice
James Lloyd always reminds me of Kenny Kirkland in looks and in ability.
Indeed

Yes Lawd!
James Lloyd is a genius
My word. Has to ...no...just lost for words.
Wish I could play like that😂
