I'm From The San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley And Back In The 1980's, I Had The Privilege Of Seeing Roy Ayers With Phyllis Hyman At The Circle Star Theater In The City Of San Carlos, CA And I Have To Say That Both Roy And Phyllis Blew It Up! Talking About A Mind Blowing Evening Of Music That Has Never Been Duplicated! Watching This Video Here On April 16, 2023 @ 3:11AM PST, This Really Brought Back Some Very Magical Memories! I Know I'm A Decade Late In Viewing This, But Love To The Uploader For The Marvelous & Magical Experience! Love, Peace And Blessings To You Always! 🙏♥️🙏✌️
How many of you have watched this video more than three times? How many of you agree that this should become a world tour with Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker and Bootsy Collins? That show would be LIT!!!!
I don't know how many times I listened to this, but one thing I just can't seem to get enough of is how that rhythm section holds that groove and lets the Funk swing to its own rhythm. This is what happens when a band is comprised of MASTER MUSICIANS who all play their parts in unison and harmony like a well-oiled NBA basketball team. They don't compete with each other... they FEED OFF OF EACH OTHER, and the magic happens. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is as good as it gets!!!
Wow, what a great group of Entertainers truly enjoying the Art of making music for an appreciative audience. I started studying music when I was younger but never rose to this level. How thankful I am for Him allowing me to have seen this video. These men were some of the best during that time and I will not forget them.
Saw Roy Ayers at Ronnie Scott's in London almost yearly in the 80's and 90's. Truelly one of the best entertainers ever. Especially in that cosy setting. I was about 3 yards away from him. Absolutely fantastic.
I call your attention to absolutely musical Roys solo is.. he creates a beautiful atmosphere where the whole band grooves... its like a journey.. only great musicians can do, regular bums just jump in and tear it up trying to show off their chops...
That was as one of the most Devastating pieces of music put together bass is talented musicians that I've heard in a long time and bring it Roy Ayers on stage 2 mix it up with you guys you can ask the better person to do such a good job thanks fellows
THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!! I LOVE ROY AYERS!!! UBIQUITY LIFELINE AND EVERYBODY LOVES THE SUNSHINE!!!!🌞☀💕💖💞 REAL RAW TALENT!!! REAL MUSIC!!! THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!!!
When I think of the amazing jazz musik created by Black Americans, and how it became a worldwide phenomenon in less than 100 years after they were released from the bondages of US slavery! If only blk youth knew their history and how amazing their bloodline is; they would never consider gangs and violence as a way to live in America or anywhere else on the planet.
It's called the sound check somebody changed something or else the sound check wasn't complete but go ahead Roy l you are super bad!!! sometimes it takes a little patience, the man right here that's a hell of a groove," always there" man ain't going to be like that no more!!
now, introducing the great roy ayers with herbie hancock, jack dejohnette, and ron carter....great video, nice group and roy can still groove!!...i always wished he could have done an album with bobby hutcherson r. i. p. being los angeles brothers... if i had a million bucks i would produce an album with roy, herbie hancock ( like his early albums ), harvey mason or jack dejohnette and dave holland or ron carter... maybe throw in a tenor player like eric alexander or george coleman... select some great jazz standards. keep dreaming😃
I guess all musicians aren't great I'm a stage/hand sound tech and Roy Ayers is a great musician but don't know what u do in the music business nor do I think musicians refer to those who may not be as good as them as bums. I guess people who can't read music would be considered bum's I don't think Jimi Hendrix felt way catch my drift.

I heard them live and it was TOO LOUD! I saw people walking out of the show because it was so loud that it wasn't even enjoyable..
NJ sucks for any jazz concert...give them Bruce Springsteen and they stay no matter the sound or the weather. NJ got no soul.
sir0623 Actually, I was at this concert, and the sound was great.
Do you suffer from hearing problems???
