  • Last time we sailed through the jobs on George the poverty-spec CL. This two-parter is full of grim frustration, seized bolts, broken pieces and wrong parts...

    I had exactly same problem with coolant tank. I needed fish remains from that small pipe. Damn, these cars are all same at this point lol

    Good entertaining video, nics car is testing you to the limit this time. I had the same problem with the fuel filter when I did mine it was too small.

    Old cars are pain sometimes especially in more humid and colder climates... Very useful info about the fuel filter and the lines. I don't get why the filter would be a different size... all the aftermarket filters I've found are the same size and there is only one part number. I did see that Champion (CFF100466) comes with new bracket as well -- could be pretty handy if you need a new one at the same time (I'm not sure how good Champion is though, I usually buy from Mann).

    And Ford called them 'Easy Clips'

      That's a real joke considering how easy jubilee clips were! At some point in the early 90's someone came up with the idea of these spring clips who obviously enjoyed making life difficult!

    Now you know why these mk1s are ending up in scrapyards at light speed. Honestly, this car is beyond saving.

      My own MK1 was as difficult at times during its rebuild 4 years ago, nothing new to me. Beyond saving? It's tired that's all and needs a fresh boost of parts.

    Is it possible when you have a leak in the coolwater hose (near the clambs)that the car makes sometimes revs like 1500-3000 mostly when you stop at the traficlight?

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Nope nothing to do with that, its coolant!

      @@usuallyfixingtinkering so the problem is not becaus of a coolant hose(s) leaking near the clambs? It must be something els that the car
      revs 1500-3000 mostly when im braking and about to stand still at the traffic light ? The coolant hoses need to be air free right thats why i think that thats the problem it must be a closed coolant water system right? I thought that becas its not closed (vacum leaking)that the car was maken these revs mostly when i stop at the traffic light
      What could that be than? could that be the trotlebody position sensor than?

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you have air getting into the cooling system you will have a leak! It could be a few sensors like the TPS, difficult to tell.

      @@usuallyfixingtinkering what is the tps? Yes i have some coolant hoses they leak where the clambs are i can see the red coolant residue there so i think that becaus its have some smal leakige that the car revs 1500-3000 when stop at the traffic ligght or something like that is that possible it wil go away ather some time mostly. sometimes it stays longer than switsh the engine off and than again on than its again like normal revs maby a sensor than

    This was clearly a day to test both you and Nic. Those spring clips are clearly a stupid design to me.
