    The best way I remove stuck injectors is to remove nut holding injector, pour red diesel over injector, drive until it breaks loose. The heat and compression will loosen it. Easy and simple

    I bought some clamps off of Ebay, They are usually made in high tensile steel, and if you are lucky, flat. I used to machine large items on 10 foot table vertical borers, so big clamps and bolts with ten foot spanners was normal to stop items flying off the machine.

    what i do on stuck injectors is to mix 50/50 of ATF fluid and acetone/nail polishing. Shake well and apply around the injector. Let it soak for an hour or to. That usually woks for me and its also a cheap quite effective penetrant oil.

    The struggle is real, I did one 2 weeks ago, the 3rd puller got mine out, had to destroy the electrical part to get a pull on the mounting and the top thread, made by Pichler, I do not think any puller is gonna get yours out. Also made by Pichler is a kit that lets you pull and break the injector bit by bit until it's all out, I've had to use that before now and it takes ages but it is a guaranteed result. Expensive kit though.

    • @tinker-time
      @tinker-time  20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You think pincher tools would get these out? When I saw the £3,500 price tag, I thought, "Can I make something to do it?" I might ring them and see what they say.

    • @misscrabstick
      @misscrabstick 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@tinker-time Like everybody we struggle with these injectors so we got the kits from Pichler, the first kit uses a hydraulic puller that works in 2 ways, the first set up won't break the injector, it pulls on the pipe thread and works sometimes, the second set up means you have to break off the electrical plastic part which of course means that no surcharge back on old injector. That one works a lot of the time. The second kit we have removes the leftovers after the second pull setup has snapped the injector in half, you are left usually with the lower body still seized in the head. It is basically a process of tapping the insides of the injector body and pulling with the hydraulic ram until that bit snaps off and comes out, then theres a different tap and a different pull adaptor, you keep going as bits snap and come out until you get to the tip. It takes time and the kit is very expensive, but it works. I've had to go all the way with the kit a few times, it is hard to justify the cost, but it gets the job done.

    Had this malady recently with an I40 Hyundai. One injector stuck, would not budge. Had to drop the head off to a engine specialist, and they pulled what was left of the injector. The renault R9M engine you have there is simple to time back once the fixed head is returned; you've done half the job already having that lump out to give yourself room o understand what causes this is a blocked scuttle drain; rainwater sits on the top of the engjne and works its way into the injector recesses and fuses the head and injectors together as one. If you remove the head and send it off spend a little more and get it skimmed, as these heads are susceptible to overheating and warping. Just future proof the motor as much as you can mate. Also if you have the injectors out, keep them in the order they came out, and recode any you replace

      It was the same with the hyundai in that the injectors go through the rocker cover. That had to be cut up to remove it to expose the rocker gear and cams which had to be removed to access the head on the hyundai.To be honest, this is the only cost effective way is to sort this himself, or otherwise splash out on a warrantied reconditioned engine. The engines only problem is the shithouse injector. The cost of the rocker cover, head gasket set, injector to replace the scrapped one, injector removal and skim by a specialist. It's alot, but less than replacing the engine with one that'll have the same issue come the time all over again, plus the added for the replacement injector. These are renowned for this issue in this van. At least, on reassembly, after recutting the injector seats, the next step would be to paint a smear of copper grease to the injectors to five them a fighting chance of not seeing in again. Other thing is to make sure the scuttle is draining properly.

      Unfortunately I had to so one of those too but it was a warped head which is common on these renault engines, luckily not an injector on that particular engine. However the seizure issue is common on these due to that one cause. Its just another typical annoying modern design oversight that's too common. At least the renault engine only has the one simple timing chain to be bothered about. Its a doddle to time unlike the hynudai 1.7crdi engine. It uses a chain from the crank that times the fuel pump, then a second chain which times from the fuel pump to the cams, plus the oil pump is part of the timing case, silly engine!

    Couldn't be ar5ed with all that pulling - waste of effort. See this nonsense endlessy - 40 ton of pull is nuts - apply twist.
    Never pulled on an injector in my life - I slam them sideways so they shear the carbon bond. Twisting is your Pal for injectors. Think it through - it's a long round bar jammed in a long round hole - it can withstand huge amounts of pull - but sod all twist. Once the "Twist don't pull" idea sinks in, you never give much fecks about how "Stuck" an injector is - it's not really. If they resist the twist, I hit them around with the air-hammer - they all give up.

      @@tinker-time Cobblers - they all twist free. I see lads here in our workshop struggling - pulling, heating, welding, all the usual rubbish - I wander over, smack them sideways with a big heavy punch & a big heavy hammer - bingo. Issue is they're frozen in place by a layer of carbon. That carbon is strong as glass, but also brittle as glass. Break that bond & out they come like lambs. It's identical to "Can't be undone!" bolts.. One guy can struggle for hours, another will have it out in seconds. The second guy will hit it so hard with a hammer, first, it will forget any & all ideas it had about being stuck.
      You need 0.5mm of sideways movement - that shatters the bond. Every injector going moves that 0.5mm. Pulling is not your Pal.

      @jamesward5721 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tinker-time I do these daily - hit them around clockwise. Grab a big heavy punch - heavier the better & a big hammer. Smack the offset around clockwise - you only need it to twist a tiny bit. The bond is real brittle - but it will resist 20 ton of pull no bother. If they pi55 me off and won't twist (rare), I hammer them down into the copper washer, then hammer them round - out they come. That means I have to spend 50 quid on a used injector, so I try avoid that - I prefer getting them out intact. Idea is to break the bond - I'm lazy & overworked, so I try avoid marathon sessions dicking about with stuff.
