Bro all aftermarket air intake will sound loud on a turbo'ed car when its open (without the heat shield) but risking to suck dust, small debris and water with a gain of sound over performance and longevity of the engine.stock air intake is fully covered with plastic housing and using foam filters thats why u won't hear it sucking air but with a full protection and full performance of the engine gain.this intake sounds became a cool factor for enthusiasts thats why most of them doing it but taking the risk. That sucking sound is created because of the metal net with dry paper/oiled paper filter that air goes in to create the noise u are hearing.stock intake without the plastic housing will sound differently due to the foam filter it uses (best filter for the engine but don't have a cool sound)
So if you're all about sound vs. Longevity, then keep this setup but u should be ready for the issues it will bring in the near future than a stock air intake. Eventhough u tuned this after installed it will still put wear and tear into your motor faster than when it is stock.well its a pay to play right? You will notice your engine oil will go dark/dirty quicker and will need oil changes around 2k to 3k miles.
Ive had the ETS intake (with box) for 20k+ miles and haven't had any issues. I change my oil every 4.5k. TJ I would recommend getting a box just so it protects the filter. Sound vs. Longevity. Sound> haha
Greg Goldman as u stated, your ets intake has a box.now try remove the box and lets see for another 20k miles. It will also gets louder once u remove the box and since you're into sound more than longevity, thats the best setup for intake sucking air sound.it will still last anyway but compare to stock that will last longer.well same as a bodybuilder right?live 50 years as a lion than live as a lamb for 100 years.haha
Well actually stock intakes have resonators that eliminate the sound of the turbo. It's not usually the filter or even the housing that mutes the sound. If you look at the aftermarket intakes, there is no resonator or anything that would quiet down the sound
Hey dude, I have a 2017 wrx and have an axle back muffler delete and the same Perrin intake. I’m getting an accessport in the next couple days, what tune did you run with that setup??
have you tried chevron 94 octane? i've actually been using it since day 1 stock and still stock. i paid for extended warranty, so no point in modding yet
i have not had any knock that i've found using it. the only thing i worry about, is not many people use 94, so the tanks might have sediment or something
How's it holding up? Perrin told me that I could only use this if I was stock. SMH. I have MAperformance's Stage 1 [91]eTune. Confused. I want to smile like you someday.

HoeLeeFuQQ I definitely will look at getting a bpv soon.

Alex Colt probably stage 1 with intake
Do you have a blow off value on the car or its all intake that makes the turbo noise
This was all from the intake.

Chicken Chauffeur no sadly we do not have that where I live

GR8GUY54 haha I love it man! Go for it
iRON1K so buy MAPerformance intake
Intake install how to install a intake.. skips how to install a intake
Did you have to tune the car after putting the intake? Or you still have a stock tune?
edwin franco I am on the stage 1 93 octane tune from MA Performance
Best to get protuned
No tune and I’ve run it for 5,000 miles and it runs great
Wrx videos here
Do you need a tune after installment
It is recommended yes.
Nice video bro!!i got aem
Nice choise. Have the perrin as well 👌👌👌
Question. Do u need a tune to install cold air intake .?
@@Leverman43I guess we’ll never know
What tune did you use? I can’t find a map for it.
Stage 1 on the MAPerformance website
@@TJShoop thank you, and how long or well has it worked with the intake? I can’t find a good answer anywhere
Apparently, I am deaf...I heard nothing.
What tune are you running?
GR8GUY54 MAP stage 1 93 octane tune. No issues
TJ Shoop dope! Looking at this as well. Wonder how it will run on the 91 tune by MAP. Heard this is the closest to stock MAF diameter.
GR8GUY54 nice! I love it!
