New to modding my 2018 WRX. Thought Subispeed had cheated me by sending the SF intake instead of the Big SF. Thanks for clearing up the difference. All the other install videos I've seen are for the Big SF.
I wanted to get the big SF for a good while now. In terms of sound spooling up and the bypass valve.. Is the big SF louder? being one long piece of intake piping, compared to the small sections combined with silicone?
Debating whether to go with this new SF intake. I had the Big SF and I would get a constant check engine light. Trying to see if all those issues are resolved
I haven’t had any stuttering or performance issues. The Big SF had issues. If you were to try and order a Big SF they would tell you that the SF is its replacement and they don’t sell the big anymore. In my opinion, if you own a big SF they should send you this one as a recall. Make sure you install the correct map or you will have issues.
i used to have the big sf intake too, it was awful had constant issues with fitment and vibration and messing up the maf sensor. I went with grimmspeed and just so much more straight forward and clean. This newer version looks great tho i wouldve totally went with this one
@@eyeout sweet ty for the quick reply, I've seen better reviews on this than the last gen big sf, feel like I can trust installing this on stage1+ with minimal reliability issues
@@noaheldridge2604 yup. Imma go stage 2 nexgen when Cobb ships out the intercooler. SF intake Cobb turbo inlet Cobb bpv Cobb charge pipe Cobb intercooler Cobb Boost controller After that I should be getting an invidia J pipe and r400 exhaust and a pro tune. Stay tuned for that!
@@mbbbb upon closer inspection…my issue might be due to a loose intake on the turbo inlet. 🥴 Replace your spark plugs while installing the intake. It requires you to remove the intake, so you might as well do it while you’re there.
@eyeout get an protune/etune with ethanol blend brother it will be a lot different. I only have cobb AP with E30 OTS from drunkmann tuning and it's a night and day difference
Just a nameless axle back muffler delete. It just makes noise.🤣 Going to install the entire Nexgen stage 2 package tomorrow! TMIC, BPV, turbo inlet, boost controller, charge pipe.
I’d buy the accessport. I just ordered all the parts to go stage 2+ nexgen. I’ll use the off the shelf map until I get a J pipe and cat back with a pro tune. That way, when I need to pass smog I can go back to the stock exhaust and have the pro tune map on the accessport for later. Does he have proof of the pro tune? If not…I’d flash it to the Cobb stage 1 plus map.
@@colinmusgrave do a half way down acceleration in 2nd or 3rd gear. Any hesitations means it has an intake but no tune. Any smell when starting up like lean or rich is another clue.
Just got mines and didn't even know there was a new revising. Gave myself a heart attack.... lol thanks for the clarification.

That’s why I made one. I’m not in it for the views or monetization. Check out the NexGen stage 2 video. Car sounds wicked awesome now.
That is some kick ass shifting
Thanks. I wasn’t trying to shift too fast so you could hear the BPV through the intake.

Probably sounds about the same. They don’t sell the big sf anymore because it caused issues.
I have a cobb big sf intake and was wondering if you've had any problems running a cobb ots tune with a cobb after market intake?
I’ve been through one tank of gas and haven’t had issues yet. I had issues with the mishimoto intake on a plain stage one tune.
I wonder if you could pair this with the Tomie titanium pipe they just released not long ago so you can get some better whooshing noises
Nope. If you get that pipe you’ll need a pro tune. This one is just as loud as the mishimoto intake I had.

Been a month and I have no issues.
@@eyeout that’s awesome looks like they did a really good job with that new version
Me and my boy got the same cold 😂
Will this pass emissions with the stage1+ tune? Jw, looking into getting this. Just ordered my ap and looking to get that extra bang for the buck
Yes, this part has a CARB # so it’s legal in all 50 states. Do not install this part without having the AP ready to install.

whats the easiest way to get the MAF sensor out to clean?
Dude…you’re not going to like this.🤣
Jack the car up and go in from the bottom.😔
Are you running stock bpv?
I was, but in my latest video I upgraded it to the Cobb bpv along with the nexgen stage 2 package. Now the car sounds sick.
Oh man. So tempting. I was planning on getting the SF only.
So this intake is the newer version right? Is it reliable so far
@@mbbbb yes. I’m currently chasing some knock issues that are probably related to not having a pro tune. I’m doing the spark plugs plugs today.

@@eyeout i heardx the stock psi is 15.9 idk if thats true but if it goes higher does that mean its tuned also?
