I was literally experimenting yesterday with changing how much mask and how much bass I have in my voice on different exercises and now you post this! I used to sing only with the 'bass' or oscuro and my teacher wanted to make me a bass lol. You read my mind Justin! Keep doing what you do, 'cause you do it best

If I may offer great examples of Rock singers with Chiaroscuro tone: Lou Gramm, Steve Walsh, Freddie Mercury, Paul Rodgers, John Farnham, Ronnie James Dio. Sure, there are many more, but these singers instantly came to mind.

Chiaro might be Axl Rose, Bon Jovi, John Lennon
Oscuro might be Paul McCartney, Elvis, Dean Martin.

Justin Stoney, you are fantastic! So much enthusiasm, well-spoken, and great encouraging messages, not afraid to praise God. Thank you! And what a great voice! I could watch you even if not studying voice! One question: here you seem to suggest retracting the tongue is an ok technique, but back in Ep 33 it seemed you say that’s a no-no. So I’m not sure!?

Hi Skid! Justin really appreciates your kind words! To clarify for you- he's not necessarily saying that it is a good way, just that it is a way that some singers do it! :) -NYVC

Chiaroscuro also help a lot with bridge. Many times i tried sing after my bridge with only light coordination ofcourse remebering about larynx and lose. But still sound was weak whiny and cracking. Only when i add dark color and boldness sound is stable.
