These voice types are also called - Pulled Chest - High Larynx (the yeller) - Light Chest - No Chest (the choir singer) - Flip - Falsetto (the flipper) - Mixed Voice (the blender) Great video!
@@clmasse it does. There are people who can sing freely and easily through the chest and head registers and the vocal cords remain connected. It’s pretty rare though. But I’ve heard some who can.
dont forget about The Butcher (pitchy and off tone), The Baker (rock voice, lots of distortion and fry) and The Candle Stick Maker....who humms while making candles sticks
I've been a chest puller for a long time. A few years ago, I started working on relaxing on the higher notes and it has really helped. While still not a master blender (sounds like an appliance) I've improved to where my tone at least sounds consistent throughout my range. Always a work in progress!
I like the way Sarah McLachlan’s voice flips. Joni Mitchell is a master. I think it’s a technique the use with great effect. But I can also see it sounding awkward if it’s weak and unintentional. Love your videos!
yeah i teach voice lessons and the implication that flipping would go away when being a developed singer just doesnt make sense, im assuming thats not how it was intended but i definitely started from a place where my flipping would land me in a position where i had no breath support on my falsetto. but now that i am a developed vocalist and a professional, i still do utilize those flips -- but they are not necessary to make the sound happen anymore, and i have learned to develop the breath support behind my higher register. the issue with singers like this isnt the flip, its the technique behind their falsetto. for most, they have lower ranges. as an adult i am a contralto, as a teenager i was often used to help the tenors fill out the part in choir. but i had ZERO ability to sing high. i think thats very true of a lot of flippers... they are just some form of altos lol
Singing on acid really makes your sound pop when you sing. I love that sound. I think it’s because like whenever you’re tripping it gives you like this extra layer of mucus in your throat and it just makes it like a lot more fun to sing I think maybe that’s what you’re referring to flipping. I’m not sure but it certainly does it when you’re tripping lol
I have trained for 12 years now and I have reached all these types of voice types but didn't know how to explain it. Thank you for the pure and real explanation. I appreciate you.
I've been singing since I was 15. I'm 30 now. I never knew I could sing. One day, randomly my pastor from church said "Here are some instrumental tracks, practice the lyrics, God told me you can sing." I was SUPER confused, as I have never sang a day in my life, especially not on a microphone. 😅 Sure enough, God placed the talent in me, and no one ever told me I had to warm up or cool down my voice before singing. Today in 15 yrs experience singing, this is the first time I've started doing vocal exercises daily. (since 1 week ago) Tomorrow I'm auditioning to once again be on my church's worship team (new church) and I feel ready. Thank you Jesus for this lady on this channel who has helped me learn so much more about singing. ❤ (new to this channel and loyal to only this one from now on for my daily vocal exercises) God bless you Ms. SINGEO. (😢 What's your name Ms.?)
You are naturally so supportive of singing and singers. Think of this. If you are teaching how to support better, be kind to yourself, then as a voice teacher, your support and kindness must shine through. You are phenomenal at both! You are a godsend for singers at all levels! I have a degree from Berklee, am a pro singer, child prodigy blah blah....your sync with your message to song and singers is a wonderful blessing. The song muses are making a joyful sound. Thank you!
Hello, I am 75 years old and I’ve been singing since I was alive. I taught voice for 45 years and I am now retired but still play with my little band. I just want to say I have enjoyed your vocal coaching. You have such a lovely positive attitude about The Voice. I especially enjoyed your video about the four types the flipper, the blender, the choir singer and the chest or yeller what a lovely positive way to lead us into knowing our entire voice thank you and good luck with your career and your TH-cam channel.
I just started singing classes and it was so frustrating for me to discover that I have this flipping gap between my low/middle tones and my high tones where the sound of my voice completely changes. Now I finally know where to start. Thaanks!! It's interesting because in the past I used to always love songs and singers that could do that flip and I enjoyed doing it, because it worked well. But now I discovered that I actually have a gap in my voice :D :D Many thanks, I just found your channel and really like how well and easy you explain things, also your light and kind heart. Hugs!
I just auditioned for my local theater’s production of Seussical. Your singing videos helped IMMENSELY, and i was still so shaky during the audition. I hope they could tell it was nervous shaky and not lack of vocal strength.
You blew my mind at the end when you talked about how what you're working on is a moving target. I've been confused why, as I gain more singing experience, some days I feel totally coordinated and relaxed and in the same week I'll have days where I struggle with my chest voice and others where I struggle with my head voice. Thank you for letting me know that that's normal 😂
Yup this is true. And just like any muscles, when you use them a lot, they get temporarily weaker, but then stronger with rest. So day to day can be drastically different
The voice changes on different days or periods, and this is apart from the external causes like a cold allergies etc, meaning that even when healthy the voice does experience variation in its properties, which is why people have good voice days. These variations have a STRONGER effect on some voice types than others (we all have unique voice types). The thing is your growth aim as a singer, in technique and control, is to be at a place where you have such mastery of your voice that the tradeoffs in those variations don't hold you back from always being amazing and having the abilities you have gained
You describe each method perfectly. You are a wonderful teacher I’m glad I found you. I’ve been a professional singer for 50 years I’ve had numerous famous teachers, and you touch everything that I have learned but need to be reminded of. Thank you sage voice. 🙏🏽👏🏻
As I started watching this video, I thought, something about you reminded me of Judy Garland, and then you used “Somewhere over the rainbow” for the example. I love the way you teach vocals. I’ve watched a lot of artists coach on ‘The Voice “were really good, but you bring a unique method that is effective with a natural ease. I am a blender, I love to sing different genres and vocal styles, pop, rock, jazz and R&B and practice singing to Sarah Brightman to stretch my range. I want to thank you for your coaching abilities.
Been singing since I was 11. I’m 45, almost 46, and am DEFINITELY a blender. I have had some great experiences singing with many artists. I love to sing!
That's cool. I believe I am a blender, with a touch of flipper, and had no idea until started singing karaoke a year ago and now I can sing about 200 songs from just mainly passion and listening but need to practice more targeted exercises. Thank you. Very informative and fun video.
I'm not in anyway a singer but there are times when I believe that feelings of emotion (being moved/innerspirit ), genuines ( to the songs story) and commitment to give everything you got too harmony is the best way of achieving incredible sound quality. I have enjoyed humming in every register I can. TH-cam is a great source of education, so thank you.
The real trick is to be able flip or blend at will, so that you can use the technique that produces the best emotional effect. I was fortunate enough to have a great voice coach who helped me develop that level of control.
I was too shy and skipped out on chorus classes when I was in school, but you really make me want to start singing and get to know my voice! I love your energy. Instant sub here. Right now my baby boy is my biggest fan lol seems to like me singing him to sleep just fine.
I used to be a Choir Singer and was happy there because I had a great head voice and soprano range. I then moved into Musical Theatre who prefer Belter's, so I trained myself to be a Belter, which then, over time, became a Belter-Flipper-Choir singer as it wasn't as easy as it used to be to get to my higher range. I am not in Musical Theatre anymore and I am now a worn out, tired, quiet, Flipper. No energy, can't hold my voice for very long, parts of my range flips and held pitch is really weak.
My tendency has always been a Flipper - but with a lot of work and practice, I'm slowly becoming more of a Blender😂 Thank you for these incredibly helpful exercises!
I started off as a Choir voice.Lovely head voice. Very versatile.Via Music Theatre, I was pressured into becoming a Chest Singer. Getting trapped into the stuff I was singing. Now I'm a struggling Flipper. Parts of my scale is Flipping, getting tired and croaking out. Now my confidence is getting in my way. When I'm asked to sing, my voice ceases up and I feel myself begin to shut down.
Definitely a YELLER . If I sing high notes too loud in chest voice, I tend to get a sore throat and need to cough . We need to sing in chest voice and belt a lot in our gospel choir, so I can’t switch to head voice , because it would sound too soft. Thank you for the „Woo“ exercise 🙏🏼
I am definitely a flipper! I’ve always struggled with belting and putting power behind my notes in a way that’s on key, though! I think part of it came from a lack of confidence. These are great tips and instructions! So glad that I found this! Thank you! 💙
This is really good! For years my choir directors and professors have had me use my head voice and labeled me as a lyric soprano. They thought it was great, my parents thought it was great, but I never really liked feeling like I'm an opera singer. Even my friends thought it was great and said they could always pick my voice out. I think I was the only soprano, who wish she had a voice like the altos. Flash forward to my married life. Nope, my voice is no longer cool, except in church. Even my own son asked me why do I sing like that and why so loud? Hubby only wants to hear me sign church music and "Don't Cry for me Argentina!" Needless to say, I stopped singing. So now I know, I need to find my chest voice. Thanks!
I have been a voice teacher for over 25 years and youtube probably knows because it suggested your video to me: you summed this up really well, and the visual is really classy. Keep it up!
I used to struggle with my middle range, and my lower upper voice (meaning the three or so notes that were too high to sing with my chest voice). Switching in that range was hard, and if I sang too long in my chest voice (like an alto part), I’d lose the ability to sing in my higher voice. Nine months of voice lessons later, and I’ve made huge strides. It now takes a couple of hours for my voice to tire when singing. I can transition way more smoothly between voices (although I still have progress to make). I’ve also had fun learning different styles of singing (day, pop vs. choral/classical), and how to hold my mouth for each kind. It’s fun! I just had a recital this weekend, and one of the other teachers at the school I go to told me I’d improved a lot since he heard me sing last November (same song). That felt really good! I know I’ll never be a great singer, but I also know people appreciate what talent I do have, and it deserves to be cultivated. 😊
As to types, I was naturally a bit of a yeller, and now I’m a lot more a blender. But yeah, I do have days where my voice just isn’t up to snuff. And sometimes certain songs will work better for where my voice is at for certain days. Like in my recital, the first song I struggled with my upper voice, not finding the power I usually have. But I was fine in the second song. Go figure!
I’ve been the choir singer my whole life because I’m quite shy, but lately I’ve been channeling my yeller because of the choirs I’m in. However, I’ve always admired the flippers because they have that break in their voices and that’s what makes runs sound so interesting and beautiful, but I can’t do them no matter how hard I try. I can hit the notes, but it’s seamless. When going from my chest voice to head voice, there is no break and I can switch between the two as I please. It’s both a strength and a weakness, as I can’t get that nice sounding break. I’m thankful for what I have, I just thought people are supposed to be able to yet I can’t. So glad it just turns out I’m not that voice type!
Could you make a video on vocal fatigue, how to prevent it, how to sing safely & voice care on the whole? 🙏🏻🥺 Can in general your voice be tired when you only started to sing because it is an undeveloped muscle or there is a problem? Can it be improper breathing for example? P.S. I love this channel so much! There’s a lot of valuable information for singers that I have never seen anywhere else. Thank you so much for your work! ❤️
Sure: - Water water water water. Start hydrating 24hrs before any major singing practice. - No coffee, alcohol during singing (and night before). Limit that morning. - 15min EVERY DAY. Ideally morning warm-up and evening exercises (in the hot shower). EVERY DAY. Maybe 1/7 days for recovery. The vocal chords are muscles. They grow in use and during sleep.
Depending on the style of music, I am blessed to be a mix of all of them. Classical training, vocal jazz.. belting out rock and r&b, ... you have to know what you are trying to accomplish in each type of music genre as well. But these exercises will certainly help me. As I age, power, agility and control do seem to suffer a little though I do make up for that with techniques and style! You are an amazing voice coach though! I'll continue to learn from you as often as I can to extend my singing days. I tend to focus less when I play instruments... then I sing tense too much chest and choir mixed.
Yeah. Many of us must do the opposite of what we think to hit the higher pitched notes. Instead of pushing harder, go softer snd lighter. It's about positioning your larynx and throat. We often don't think about how we're holding these things but it is essential.
Loved this video. I'm definitely a Blender. I can reach very low notes, that was an exercise enough, and can now go right into very high notes with ease. It took some work but now feel like I can sing many songs now. Thank you so much for your exercises!
@@CockneyRebel1979Same here. I used to be able to back in my high school choir days but after not singing for years but now I’m my church band I am finding I am a flipper. 😞
My type isn't consistent. If I try to sing a very powerful song with many smooth transitions from chest to head in the chorus, I can feel like a chest puller. If I sing a soft song I can become a too quite singer, thinking I sound good, and as the original singer, while it can't be farther from the truth. Sometimes I sing a relaxed song, so I forget to put attention on the chords closure and then I become a flipper. And sometimes i record myself so many times that I know by heart what I would like to do in this song, so I becoming a blender, and then I hear how I loose it in the dynamics and the vibrato not being consistent. So, in conclusion, I think this saying that a singer is in one of those groups isnt accurate
I'm really not sure what type I am. One of my biggest problems is probably the part where I get self-conscious half-way through and then I kind of just lose the rythm for a second 😅
I've been singing since I was 4 and I'm 37 now. I was called to the music ministry as a child and I still spread the word of God because I have been delivered from the Darkness and into the Light by one who loves humanity as a whole!!! We are here to share what we are blessed with unto all the people. I'm a blender!!!
Thank you. I have a starting point now. Started karaoke a year ago and now have around 200 songs I like to sing (none of them in the modern era) - a blender/touch of flipper. It's like you have the vitality of a 1950s performer and the technical brilliance of someone in the 40's (2040's) - refreshing.
I think I'm a flipper. I find that I lose a lot of power and control in my higher register and then I can't land on notes precisely (I'll be sharp or flat). I think that the choir singer exercises would also be helpful for me. Thanks for the video!
Ive watched so many "what type of singer" "what type of voice are you" videos and none of them seemed to address what my problems are but THIS helped me identify that i am a flipper. Looking forward to implementing the exercises and improving.
This is very detailed and you’re spot on with all of this. I really appreciate how you describe the way everything feels. That, to me, is the most important part. If I can sound right, but don’t feel the right sensations, then something’s off. Compensatory muscles can be a huge issue, and even worse when you don’t know they shouldn’t be the ones working... Painful stuff that’s best to be avoided with proper practice.. and knowledge about them. Needless to say, I messed up and gained a lot of neck tension that I’m still working on
Loved this! So I was in the blender stage but after a pregnancy I am now a flipper and my high register sounds like the choir singer. So this was very helpful to figure out what I need to do
THANK YOU! GREAT VIDEO- GREAT INSIGHT, GREAT HUMOR & GREAT SUGGESTIONS TO HELP. Been singing since I was around 14, I'm 42 now. Too self conscious to be a full chest singer. I'm combo of the last 3 depending on rest, water intake and diet. For instance, if I eat clean (sugar free, bread free, diary free, well hydrated) for 1 week or better, my vocal transitions will be very smooth, clear, clean and I'll have a moderate volume level- so much easier to sing (BLENDER)! If Ive recently eaten sugars within the last 2-3 hours and little water, I can quickly turn into a CHOIR SINGER/ FLIPPER- where my voice even goes in and out at times. Very unreliable voice and I tend to go softer vocally.
Wow this is amazing , even for me since I’m a choir singer. I’m interested in learning more about how to balance your voice especially when I’m a choir singer
I would say I lack strength in my lower notes. Ive always sang soprano, so I have easy and power on high notes. But, I guess I'm a "choir" singer. I can switch to chest, and get power. But, keeping strong through my entire range is tough. I think flipping is a nice technique in many cases. But, I'd like to use it as one tool, not my only option.
You are very likeable and Real. Thank you for putting this video out here. Makes me want to see others from you, this was the 1st from you I have just seen & heard. Good work. Much appreciated.😃🥰💖
Definitely a flipper. I struggle the most in my mid range, especially around my vocal break (very noticeable point where I skip a note). I thought I initially struggled with head voice, but I find that almost effortless to go into head voice (while my chest voice has always been pretty decent due to it being my more comfortable speaking range). Love your videos and energy
I have similar case. But with just I started feeling mostly comfortable with head voice but I find that using chest is not that hard. But struggled a lot with mixed voice. 😭😭😭
I came across your channel last night and watched another video of yours as well and I love your teaching style. It makes us beginners feel comfortable and not so foolish. Thank you so much!
I was a flipper as a child, and I was dealing with it by either pressing my chest voice really high, or just using that breathy voice for the low notes. When I was 13 or 14, I was just sitting on the floor messing with some lego and singing. I just suddenly started to blend. All of a sudden I could just do it and my head voice was a lot stronger. I don’t know, sometimes your body just changes, similar to when you’re able to crack a joint that you previously couldn’t crack.
After taking a voice lesson, my coach said you’ve got ‘The Ping’. Which she informed me that I can hit the high E! Hmmm…it felt amazing to know! God bless!🎶
Hi! I would like to say that with complete vocal technique from Copenhagen you can stay in chest, sing high and it feels free and easy. You need energy, but you feel free in your throat. You just need to place your sound in super specific spots depending on the vowel and the note you are singing, but it is totally possible. The yelling type can sound just great, if done correctly. No need of head voice at all. Check out edge and curbing modes in CVT.
This is fantastic. I have *no* idea what type I am, but I figure if I do all the exercises, I might figure it out. I took a couple of years of classical voice instruction so I think I *might* be a yeller because that is what I was trained to be? But classical was not what I was looking for, and I'm trying to figure out what MY style is. These videos are so helpful for those of us who cannot find or afford a voice coach, it's very much appreciated. Thank you so much.
Hello Singeo, trust this message finds you well.. Have studied Music for more than 40 years, including professional singing courses.. But I have to say.. I learnt more in 11 minutes here.. Than I have in my whole life.. Your Musicianship and Ear is next level too.. Wish you were in my Country.. Would support you professionally like there was no tomorrow.. ☺
Maybe I’m missing something but, when I sing and start toward my upper range, my voice “downshifts” an octave and I can sing slightly higher. I was in mens choir and Barbershop Quartet as a Lead or Second Tenor.
i used to be a choir singer when i was a shy kid but then it becomes boring when i went to college so i sometimes try to insert "yelling" at some parts for emphasis. now i'm a blender but at times i feel the need for more power to make impactful musical deliveries so i still do vocal exercises in the morning. thanks for this video i can add these to my exercises. :)
As an African I'm raised up with other type of skills till I no longer underground myself... I think it just a matter of listening the master the Animals voices... Thx for the Pianos lessons u gave staff I'll never forget! I'm a All in All u said but as Africans we have our own ways discussing I'll teach u too... @dochdodava oneLove support
These technics may sound stupid b t they work wonders...if you find these stupid that means your are not called in this line...to us this is golden...i understand teachers who are skeptical these lessons are not for everyone...thank you macctah ...i did not know these kind of singers ...now i know ...ill be able to identify ministers in my church...and i will tell them who they are so they can understand themselves better...
I love your videos thanks you. I’m 62, always wanted to sing, never knew where or how to, although I did sing in a couple of choruses over the years. I know that I had a voice that could of sung opera, have a wide range. Feel like I missed the boat. I love listening to your teachings. ❤
You only got one life! Do it now. Don't be shy, being 'late' is not a shame. I'm 28 and since I was a child, I've always wanted to sing and never had classes cause I thought I couldn't and came to a point where I wanted it SO SO MUCH FOR YEARS and some friends listened and while I was quite awful I thought to myself wth, I'm just gonna try and see if I can sing properly! I started voice lessons a year ago! And guess what,I - to my surprise - can actually sing! You missed no boat, try to meet people from the social circles you wanna blend into while singing and just do it! Or make TH-cam videos with you singing. It's a shame to not live the life you could live depending on your skillset and wants!! You don't have a second chance in life. ❤️ (the fear of being late is my sad part as well cause many people around me have had musical and voice lessons for their whole childhood/life and many times I'm thinking I've missed the boat big time, too)
For a long and brilliant stage career you may be late, but you can still learn and even perform. I bet your voice is well preserved and in a pretty good shape
This supports my understanding and methodology as well and I have very similar exercises. I have been singing operatic and crossover styles for over 40 years and was first ‘choir’ then ‘flipper’ to ‘chest’ and now have control as ‘blend’ with much of the exercises you mention plus others. Thank you for such an inspiring account of how adjustments work and that things will always be in flux. This will be important to remember as one navigates aging or any other hormonal changes in life. 😊
I am a choir singer because that’s all I did from middle school all the way through high school. I have to watch my breathing otherwise I get that weak sound you mentioned. I also have no vibrato and don’t know how to make that happen. I know enough to recognize a forced vibrato and don’t want that but I don’t know how to make it happen naturally.
Very interesting..my voice is very soft and sometimes felt stuped for I can not in any way do a chestpuller, my one sister is a flipper, I love what she can do with her voice but never knew what to call it or how to explain it to others
I’m 16 years old and have never sung loud notes in a song before or got perfect note because I’m nervous AND I want to become a singer, and I need people who will support me and I need extra support. I don’t have the money for vocal coaching either:(((((
Then you got the hard mode, to clear this, now it all depends on how deep your devotion is for singing ..its sad you ain't got any cream on your corn yet ..time is asking you can you do this ,what you got adlibs or courage.
I am much older than you, and started singing 11 years ago when I was 60. I got up the courage to do to open mics with a guitar player I paid to accompany me and cover my guitar playing and a bass player which made us sound really nice. I have taken some voice lessons late in life and the best teacher I had used to tell me to sing as much as I could around the house. You can find free vocal lessons online and I did some of that as well. I have trouble with the break going from the chest register to head voice. one particular teacher, who was a pop teacher, suggested the mixed voice or going nasal as they say, when you go up through the break. It does help. You may not have trouble with the break which is a good thing. But anyway, what I guess I’m trying to say is I now feel after taking vocal lessons that you may not need them. if you want to get up and sing, you have to just get up and do it. You don’t need to pay for vocal lessons, but if you want to check out some things and get advice about what your vocal range is, you can do it for free online. There’s 1 million teachers and you can pick the one you like the best. I used to like Freya Casey, who is classically trained, but does Videos that are down to earth for pop singers. The more you sing the better you will get. You will be less afraid. If you don’t have a piano at home to guide you with what notes you are hitting, and where to start scales as you are warming up, I suggest you buy a good old pitch pipe, which can help you off in the key that you want to do. But that old, but young, teacher of mine, used to tell me that doing scales was only half effective , and she felt the most effective thing was to sing around the house. I did find that when she gave me a few technical lessons, singing around the house helped me realize that, for each song, where I knew where my break was going to come and how I was going to have to use Mixed Voice to get it right. I would’ve done more open mics, but Covid came along and everything was shut down. Since Covid has kind of been and gone, I just haven’t had the impetus to get back out there. I hope this helps. Remember: free advice on the Internet and there’s tons of it. Doing warm-up exercises and then singing. And when you are singing a song at home watch out for when your voice doesn’t perform too well and that’s when you sing it over and over again intentionally so that you practice it so that you can then go out and sing it effectively.
I listen to a lot of old soul music . Guys like James Brown. Odis redding. Little Richard. Many many many more seem to have balanced mixed voices as they go through their range with the same energy and coordination.
I'm the blender, finally! Hahaha for a long time it was very difficult for me to sing softly but after working on it a lot, I have gotten it but still trying to improve everyday 😊
These voice types are also called
- Pulled Chest - High Larynx (the yeller)
- Light Chest - No Chest (the choir singer)
- Flip - Falsetto (the flipper)
- Mixed Voice (the blender)
Great video!
Thank you.
The mixed voice doesn't exist.
@@clmasse it does. There are people who can sing freely and easily through the chest and head registers and the vocal cords remain connected. It’s pretty rare though. But I’ve heard some who can.
@@alinserbanmusic There is no chest and head registers.

While still not a master blender (sounds like an appliance) I've improved to where my tone at least sounds consistent throughout my range. Always a work in progress!

If you can hear it’s not good, that means you might have a good ear which is great if you want to sing!
Nah ,me too
😅 me too😂😂😂

I like the way Sarah McLachlan’s voice flips. Joni Mitchell is a master. I think it’s a technique the use with great effect. But I can also see it sounding awkward if it’s weak and unintentional. Love your videos!
It reminds me of The Cranberries lead singer

Singing on acid really makes your sound pop when you sing. I love that sound. I think it’s because like whenever you’re tripping it gives you like this extra layer of mucus in your throat and it just makes it like a lot more fun to sing I think maybe that’s what you’re referring to flipping. I’m not sure but it certainly does it when you’re tripping lol
@@DjMicr0dotWeird take. I get Spravato once weekly and I hear my voice differently when I sing while “tripping”.

(😢 What's your name Ms.?)
That’s just beautiful! You got this, I believe you and God does too. I’m rooting for you 🙂, God bless you !
@@ilovejayyy aww thank you so much 💓 God bless you and your loved ones dear to your heart ❤️
Amen! Thank you for sharing this was truly helpful especially for church

What's your name?? I want to hear you sing!!! I sing also. I'm soprano
Thank you!
She is simply AMAZING in her energy, knowledge, approach to teaching and encouraging others at any singer level. ❤
You're the best singing voice teacher that I've found in internet so far.

You’re not alone on this one, I’m the same way. Also, I believe the weather affects it too.
You describe each method perfectly. You are a wonderful teacher I’m glad I found you. I’ve been a professional singer for 50 years I’ve had numerous famous teachers, and you touch everything that I have learned but need to be reminded of. Thank you sage voice. 🙏🏽👏🏻
What a charming and disarming teacher you are!
I love your energy 😅
It feels like getting singing lessons from Tinkerbell and I'm here for it
Thanks for that , the most useful part of your presentation is when you said "it's a moving target" , I'm the 3rd type of singer 😊.

Nice voice though...good way of explaining
As I started watching this video, I thought, something about you reminded me of Judy
Garland, and then you used “Somewhere over

you teach vocals. I’ve watched a lot of artists

you bring a unique method that is effective
with a natural ease. I am a blender, I love to

to thank you for your coaching abilities.
❤👍🙂
I am definitely a flipper. Looking forward to be a blender soon. Leaving this comment here as a reminder
...
I am so happy I discovered you. You are an outstanding teacher. I hope you never change your teaching approach.
My tendency has always been a Flipper - but with a lot of work and practice, I'm slowly becoming more of a Blender😂 Thank you for these incredibly helpful exercises!
This video and channel really help take the scary out of learning to sing better. Thank you
So happy to hear that! 🎤

Did you know that song is the right bit for doing cpr reanimation ??? 🤪
You know opera technique? It can be used for choir. But need more strength.
Keep it up!
Flipper here! I'm so glad I now have a name for my frustration and something to work toward!
Go figure!
@@kitty.miracle Huh? If I were, I wouldn’t be taking voice lessons!
I also want help with this, my voice stamina (If that is a thing) is really low.
Absolutely!!!
Yeah
Sure:
- Water water water water.

Your teachings are life lifting
God bless you Sir.
Then please teach me how to blend, 'cos I can't do it to save me bloody life!
5:42 love that little Disney princess trill at the end of those.
I think I’m a flipper too. I can never find a comfortable spot for singing.
Me too
Flipping is cool. I think as we practice and more to smooth all that out it will come in handy. I don't mind flipping
Always be kind to yourself
and enjoy the amazing journey
Beautiful words❤️❤️❤️
Im learning a lot with you. Thank you!
Go on Lisa!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
So this was very helpful to figure out what I need to do
You are adorable and so likable. Thanks for this great video!
Very unreliable voice and I tend to go softer vocally.
your explanations and presentations are so succinct! Thank you!
I've been following your piano videos, but I didn't know you had a channel about singing! I have a lot to catch up now. Thanks for your videos
Good work. Much appreciated.😃🥰💖
okay, I've had this on my playlist for two years, and after three and a half minutes, I'm loving the woof exercise. Thanks!
This is me exactly
I have similar case. But with just I started feeling mostly comfortable with head voice but I find that using chest is not that hard. But struggled a lot with mixed voice. 😭😭😭
Late 50’s beginner Singer and blessed to be a blender naturally - 🙏🏼
I came across your channel last night and watched another video of yours as well and I love your teaching style. It makes us beginners feel comfortable and not so foolish. Thank you so much!
This is very helpful. Especially understanding that you can fall in the different types at different times
God bless!🎶
Back again, with another clutch vid. Thanks Lisa! As for me, I'm a blend of a Yeller & a Flipper, I'm a Yeller flipper 🙋🏾
A friend of mine saw two types. The screamer and the warbler.
I'm a Blender too 😊 with a blended coffee 😊
Lisa Witt, fabulous tips! Thanks so much for your wonderful video. Very informative!! I think I am a blender.
I’m interested
@@godricmusic7571 What's CVT?... Is Copenhagen (apart from the city) a singing method?
Any teachers you recommend to talk to?
This is fantastic. I have *no* idea what type I am, but I figure if I do all the exercises, I might figure it out. I took a couple of years of classical voice instruction so I think I *might* be a yeller because that is what I was trained to be? But classical was not what I was looking for, and I'm trying to figure out what MY style is. These videos are so helpful for those of us who cannot find or afford a voice coach, it's very much appreciated. Thank you so much.
What is your take on mixed voice, vocal fry, and false cord screaming when it comes to vocal techniques?

This was fun lol! Im definitely "the choir singer" no chest at all lol
Thank you very much

(the fear of being late is my sad part as well cause many people around me have had musical and voice lessons for their whole childhood/life and many times I'm thinking I've missed the boat big time, too)
For a long and brilliant stage career you may be late, but you can still learn and even perform.
When you sing keep your mouth wide open you should hear a wobbling effect that’s your vibrato at least that’s how I do it hope this helps!
Ooooo
U can do this on ur own! Keep goin❤
I did find that when she gave me a few technical lessons, singing around the house helped me realize that, for each song,
where I knew where my break was going to come and how I was going to have to use Mixed Voice to get it right. And when you are singing a song at home watch out for when your voice doesn’t perform too well and that’s when you sing it over and over again intentionally so that you practice it so that you can then go out and sing it effectively.
cheers to the spirit!!!!! WOAHH@@lindajones8101
