The Batman was one of Batman's most complete shows spanning through most major batman eras. The show was far from perfect especially the last season but I am glad they genuinely tried something different. This show introduced me to a lot of batman villains like Maximilus Zeus and had what I would argue to be an amazing first 3 seasons. Overall a solid and often over looked Batman show that's definitely worth a watch no matter what era of batman you love.

I think the reason “The Batman” started with Batgirl instead of Robin was because at the time “Teen Titans” was still airing during season 3

    • @_ChoccooMilkk_

That thought is correct. The bat embargo was really strong at this time. That’s also why some characters didn’t appear at all (Ras Al Ghul, Scarecrow and Harvey Dent/two face) because they appeared in the Nolan movies, therefore couldn’t be used on the first, or second season of the show. Joker could still appear but he showed up less as the show went on.

From what I remember, the reason they started with Batgirl and not Robin was because Teen Titans was airing at the same time, and the Bat Embargo kept them from using him until TT ended.

Yeah although that consequently along with the presentation of this Robin made way for the theory that both Titans and The Batman's Robin are the same guy only a couple years. And both Titans and Batman 04 are in the same universe.

Im glad a lot of people are making videos on this series. The late 80d-2010s were just the time of Batman from the comics, to 89, to the DCAU, The Batman, Brave and the Bold, Nolan movies and even sadly the DCEU were just Batman taking over.
I grew up with this show and I really loved the aesthetic of the show

This was MY Batman growing up. Of course I went back and watched BTAS and loved it but this was my introduction to the caped crusader. Loved your other videos on this show and I'm so glad you're covering this show and bringing more awareness to it. Its so underrated and deserved so much more love than, as you said, being a weird middle child that a lot of people overlooked

I like that they gave Batgirl and Robin more of a sibling dynamic rather than being former lovers.

Same, it sucks when Batgirl is just "the girl" of the group. Honestly, I'm not against 2004 Robin and Batgirl becoming a couple because they're fleshed out characters, but I still love their sibling bond quite a lot and it made them even more memorable.

Honestly, I’m _so_ happy people are finally getting around to talk about The Batman. It feels like it gets overshadowed by Batman: the Animated Series so often, and afterward people just jump on to Brave and the Bold.
But þis? Þis was my Batman growing up. Þis was how I got introduced to þe Batman as a character, and it set þe stage for how I saw þese characters going forward.
Heck, I almost feel like oþer Jokers act too still and stiff compared to Kevin’s Joker; I even got into acrobatics a little because of Joker, and I incorporate what I do into my role in þe local Haunted Woods to þis day!
Þis show may not be þe gold-standard of þe Animated Series, and I can accept þat, but The Batman is a beautiful shining silver!

This was my first introduction to Batman as a kid and was what got me into Batman growing up, even before I ever watched Batman The Animated Series, Batman: Brave and the Bold, before I even read the comics, or played the video games like Arkham series or Telltale games in my teen years. This show honestly is my favourite Batman show, and its hard to believe the show is already 20 years old.
I absolutely LOVE the animation, art style and redesigns of the characters, especially Joker (one of my favourite takes on Joker), Batman, Batgirl, Robin, Mr Freeze, Firefly, Catwoman, Riddler, Killer Croc, Clayface, Man-Bat, etc... all of them had such cool, sleek and creative designs that truly made this show stand out as its own thing and that's one of the many reasons I love it so much.
I really love this shows take on Batman as more laid back and mentally stable Batman that hasn't let the darkness completely overtake him as its such a refreshing change from the status quo. I also love Bruce and Alfred's relationship and how much Bruce grows as a character accepting Batgirl and adopting Robin and rheir dynamic together is truly fun to watch as this might be my favourite take on the Bat-Family in an adaptation as they all had great chemistry with each other.

This is my Batman show. I literally have all 5 seasons on DVD. Before watching this show on Cartoon Network, I knew little about Batman or the wider DC universe in general. This show was my introduction to Joker, Batgirl, Robin, Superman, heck the Justice League itself.
I'm glad to see channels like yours give the show the praise and attention it deserves.
Also peak Batgirl and Robin imao. Their episode introductions in seasons 3 and 4 are some of the best episodes the show ever did. Having Barbara Gordon and Pamela Isley be best friends before becoming Batgirl and Poison Ivy was masterfully done.
And Robin's intro episode and how Dick Grayson becomes Batman's partner is tied with the BTAS version. It's that good

Wonder Woman was designed for the series, but she didn't get to appear because of this contract that said if Wonder Woman was gonna appear on any show that wasn't about her, she had to be in a major role.
Luckily this was done away with by the time Brave and the Bold came out.

I'm late. I LOVE this show, definitely my favorite Batman series. (I have all the dvds, even! :D)
I enjoy how the first seasons are darker and how the show lightens up with the introduction of Batgirl and then Robin.
Also, love how the first time Batman smiles in the show is for Dick. Batman never smiles, at all, and then he meets Dick Grayson and he smiles. Also, love Alfred. Alfred is the goat. The episode where Ethan Bennet turned into Clayface was terrifying as a kid. Also, it's so sad how Bruce was going to finally open up to Ethan about his secret identity and then it didn't work out. :/ :(

One of the things this show got criticized for was the whole "it's just to sell toys" thing. As someone who grew up with BTAS they're gonna make the toys anyway might as well have them actually connected to the show

    • @ashesGeek
      @ashesGeek 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

The difference is the staff for toys in "The Batman" was actually used in the show and had a role in the plot. I'm not a expert in marketing, but I get a feeling a lot of stuff sold under BTAS brand was either somewhere in the background or wasn't from the show at all.

I loved the batfamily dynamic in this show especially batgirl and with her rivalry with robin. This version of Bruce actually grew a lot in the season and was acting like a sorta father figure to a younger version of the sidekicks. This versions cat woman was also one of my favorites since they really played up how she’s a parallel of Bruce in this show

I love how this series developed ideas that were later added into other Batman media. Some examples are…
    • A Jokerized Batman
    • Joker getting juiced on Venom
    • A kid Poison Ivy
    • An A.I. created to take down Batman
    • An A.I. Joker
    • Mr. Freeze having actual ice powers
And I know there were more concepts from the show that were translated to other media but I can’t name any other specific examples.

I love this version so much. Especially with how the Batfamily dynamic is kind of like a big brother and his kid sister and little brother. The fact we see them all together in the future episode with Nightwing and Oracle and older Batman and Elderly Alfred. It really goes to show that they have a really good family bond. It’s perfect for this Batman whose story in the early parts are focused on him being able to balance a life with his heroics. Seeing that he managed to is cathartic when compared to Batman Beyond where it’s so angsty and sad.

  • @Joshua_Shadow_Manriguez
    @Joshua_Shadow_Manriguez หลายเดือนก่อน +9

While Teen Titans was why Batgirl was introduced first, it's actually something that was a thing Pre-Crisis in the comics, which is neat. I love this show. Writing Yin out does kind of sucks, the biggest insult probably being an episode where they brought back Cash Tankerson to guard Bruce Wayne. It's really neat how this show got around the Bat-Embargo by making Ethan Bennett the first Clayface via an adaption of The Killing Joke. Also, "The Joining" was an obvious "Brainiac by another name".
I know this looks like rambling, but bear with it.

I really loved The Batman. While it didn't have the fame that Batman The Animated Series had, some characters and plotlines I thought were handled significantly better than in BTAS. Characters like Catwoman, Hugo Strange, Batgirl, Killer Croc and surprisingly Firefly I thought were handled in a vastly superior way than in the DCAU. Also the Riddler voiced by Robert Englund was a standout. It also had one of the most unique depictions of Clayface ever. The animation was incredibly thought out and the choreography on the fight scenes is the best I've seen in DC animation.

Your description of Batman in "The Batman" cartoon are cool and I def. want to watch the series 😊. The one thing I noticed and now praise about 2004 Batman that unlike BTAS Bruce not only has gone through development, but we also see all his stages, even in the far future.
Think about it, DCAU needed two whole ass shows to demonstrate Bruce becoming a Justice League member and an old man loner. "The Batman" did the same just in 5 seasons and didn't waste time with pointless fillers or unnecessary multi part stories

If it were up to me, I’d make a Wonder Woman show because Diana is way overdue for her own show and it would have solved the JL’s all dude problem. I also would have given The Flash a show and made a justice league show so we can still see Batman and the others.

If I have a strange nitpick when it comes to this show's fanbase, it's that I'm insulted when they call The Batman 2004 as the DC Comics equivalent of The Spectacular Spider-Man... *yeah, right, at least this underrated piece of work at least got 5 seasons of 65 eps, with nary an unresolved cliffhanger that makes one not wanna rewatch it anymore.*
By the way, I probably advice fans to deem "Artifacts" as the true series finale via skipping it until Season 5 is done, the same way the DC Animated Universe should end at Justice League Unlimited Season 2's "Epilogue", not Season 3's "Destroyer".

Nah, season 5 was great conclusion to Bruce's story: at first he wanted to work alone and thought only he can save the world and in the end he took responsibility for his newfound Bat-family and became a part of Justice League.
That's the same reason what made DCAU Justice League Batman so great, he was just at piece with himself and finally happy.

@@MCBOMB27the overly edgy designs for these characters(like Batclaws really?) The story telling is so cliché and bland that I can by folks would love it because its as bland as everything else.
The characters are one dimensional and ultimately at times unlikable.
It lacks creativity and feels like a watered down BTAS.
