I absolutely love the story of how Kevin Michael Richardson got the role of Joker. Apparently while he was driving to his audition he was stuck in a traffic jam and was very late and when he arrived he was so angry and was sure he was never going to get the role that he just used his anger and frustration and just yelled at the mic. Turns out they absolutely loved his manic voice for the role and history was made. Kevin did such an incredible job and to think that before he was cast he was really disappointed that they just didn't go with Mark Hamill again because he thought he was just incredible. Kevin is definitely a worthy successor.
The reason they weren't able to use Robin until after Teen Titans ended was because of what's known as The Bat Embargo. Essentially studio heads think kids are stupid so they put the Bat Embargo into place when The Batman started airing and when Batman Begins was in production. The Bat Embargo basically said that no Batman characters can be in two different adaptations at the same time, with the exceptions to that being Batman, Joker, Alfred, Jim Gordon, and Lucius Fox. This was so kids wouldn't get confused seeing two different versions of the same character. That's why Robin couldn't show up until after Teen Titans ended and why Ra's al Ghul, Two-Face, and Scarecrow don't appear in this show. Because they were being used in Batman Begins and the Bat Embargo stated that was the only place they could be used. Which is honestly really unfortunate because if you look up concept art for The Batman's take on Scarecrow, he looks really badass.
@@calvine295 I think it's called the Batman strikes or something like that but I am saying I wish the Batman cartoon had a comic book where they continue the series kind like of there's a batman 89 comic and batman the animated series comics that continues the story of those ones..
@@178laaleros The concept art for Scarecrow exists. They had plans to use him, but couldn't get approval. It was released in a comic and should be easy to find online now
Honestly The Batman is very underrated for what it is, and it's one of the few "Alternative" Batman stories/presentations that does everything that it needs to very well, and changes things up in a way that actually works.
About Clancy Brown, it took me a couple of times to understand "I picture him as Mr. Krabbs or Lex". I kept hearing "I picture him as Mr. Krabbs' old legs" I kept picturing Clancy Brown doing the sound of Mr. Krabbs tiny legs walking.
I mean it when I say this: Matter Of Family is not only my favorite episode of season 4, but my favorite episode of the entire series. Something about it is just so great!
I think what I love most about this iteration of the villains for Batman is that they all can fight even Penguin 😂like they all can go head to head with Batman for the most part and I love that like I wasn’t expecting Joker to be flipping around like Spiderman when he fought
Great video, I love this show! I was thinking about how maybe you could Batman brave and the bold ranking or ranking every batman villain maybe the ones that appear the most in media on how much you like them, just an idea
Good but not great was my opinion with most of this show. The art style and Designs definitely grew on me, with Joker being the largest 180 ( I originally watched the first episode and thought he looked so terrible I dropped the show for like 6 years) I'm still happy I watched it, and this video breakdown.
This show was the first real batman show I watched, however I saw it as an adult and it really made me fall iin love with the character. It really encapsulates Bruce's best qualities - the Manbat episode where he gets hearing aids for a girl he just heard about and signs to her just speaks of how kind he can be.
This version of The Batman got played in heavy rotation on CBBC here in England, I always used to watch it when it came on, the only thing I disliked at first was the jokers design but I grew to really like it.
I remember watching Batman vs Dracula when it premiered originally, I was super stoked for it. Obviously seeing the ads for the special helped a lot but it’s one of my better memories of The Batman in general.
Also, I'm pretty the first ever time that Mercy Graves is depicted as Asian American which is how she has been depicted in the comics ever since the yearly 2010s.
I always looked at this show as if it was heavily anime inspired. I remember getting up to watch it every Saturday and how much I enjoyed the show as a kid. Kinda forgot for awhile but you helped me remember

Zach, can you please make a video where you rank episodes of the brand new 'My Adventures with Superman' animated series? It is a really good show. Please do watch it if you haven't already.
This show was great! Honestly there are only 3 problems with it that bother me 1) Losing Yin! Yes I know the voice actress had other roles she wanted to pursue, but they could've just gotten a different voice actress. If they did want to get rid of Yin that is fine but what bothers me was that there was no explanation given in universe and she's never mentioned again, totally insulting fir such a great character and unlike most Batman characters she's not in the comics she's show only, making it even more of a waste. 2) Limited Batgirl! I actually loved that Batgirl was the first sidekick. It was a great change of pace even if it was do to ridiculous reasons. I like her and Batman's reluctant mentor sidekick relationship and how she had to prove herself to him first over time. Once again a nice change of pace. But once season 4 came we started seeing less of her and even more in season 5. The whole reason fans love the Batfamily is seeing this makeshift team come together as a family and Batgirl & Robin had a great bickering sibling dynamic. It's just a shame we didn't get more of it. 3) The Justice League portrayal! Like you said this show should've just stuck with Batman and Batman themed characters. All of the episodes with a Justice League member just felt like an excuse for the writers to show off how much better Batman is than the rest by having him one up them. And yes, it is a Batman show he's meant to look good, but I don't like seeing heroes I like stripped down or look incompetent just to elevate Batman's rep. The episodes with Superman, Flash & Green Lantern were the worse and while the other half with Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow & Hawkman were better I didn't like that the series finale revolved around Batman saving the League, it just rubbed me the wrong way. But yeah that's it the show was still great!
Season 5 was a bit of a letdown as the episodes that featured a team up with the Justice League members weren’t bad, most of them and the season overall was just mid. Ring Toss was frustrating with Penguin being able to use a Green Lantern ring when he is actually more fitting for an Orange Lantern with how greedy he is in the series. What Goes Up… is my least favorite episode of the season as the episode just felt boring with Black Mask having a building to be lifted up in the air just to rob it. I find it odd that the Justice League of this series felt like a boys only club and didn’t have any women it, not even Wonder Woman to complete the main Trinity. Season 4 is definitely the best season of the series as most of the season had bangers. My top 10 episodes of the series are: 1. The Cat and the Bat 2. Artifacts 3. Ragdolls to Riches 4. Two of a Kind 5. Vertigo 6. Thunder 7. A Matter of Family 8. Gotham’s Ultimate Criminal Mastermind 9. Riddler’s Revenge 10. It's the best Batman show that isn't in the DCAU, all the DCAU shows are above this then I would say this, STAS and this are of pretty similar quality though. STAS has higher highs but lower low's
7:56 It's also an even cooler misdirect because Kirk Langstrom wanting to cure his own deafness is the post-crisis origin for him becoming Man-Bat in the comics.
I definitely plan on doing more stuff like this, I am still going to stick to shows that I am more familiar with/grew up with first but I will definitely see where I go from there becuase to be honest I never really got into anime at all. I only really enjoyed Hellsing Ultimate which seems to be quite obscure now. Edit: also with shows like The Boys & Invincible I am definitely going to cover them both but I don't know if it's worth waiting for The Boys' final season or to do it before then
@Zach.R Yeah, but I don't think you have to wait. You can start with the past seasons too, but I hear you thank you for the content. It keeps me entertained on my long rides to uni
