    I followed your advice and fixed the problem! I had used a hair dryer to defrost and clean out the ice about once every month for 3 years. Levelling as your showed has fixed the problem. For months I have had no problems. Thank you!!

    Thank you so much for posting this. My Ice make now works! Just a warning, though... it took a couple tries, as if it's too off level in any direction, the stupid ice maker will freeze up in different places and stop. Finally got it to a level that works, and now it just makes ice! Only a Samsung customer can really appreciate that loud sound of ice continuing to drop!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! My "new" Samsung is now almost 2 years old and I've only ever had it make ice for about two weeks. I've tried the previous "fix" of putting RTV in the air cracks between the icebox and the fridge unit but that didn't help at all. Last week I decided to tackle it again as iced tea season will be here soon and I'm sick and tired of not having my own ice when I damn well paid for a brand new ice maker!! Well, I easily adjusted the front feet upward, yes the refrigerator had been installed professionally by Lowes perfectly level. I completely defrosted the existing polar ice cap in my ice maker and voila it's been making ice for over seven days now. It still gets a hint of frost but it hasn't come near freezing up since I did this. I hope everyone who has has this problem - and I've seen a lot of you out there - finds this solution.

    OMG! I saw this video about three weeks ago after fighting with this problem for close to 4 years now.
    Samsung replaced the ice maker over a year ago in an effort to “fix” this exact issue and of course it wasn’t fixed.
    I have been on TH-cam several times trying to troubleshoot on my own since Samsung will no longer cover this repeating issue under warranty. The unit will stop making ice about every three weeks or so and I would have to knock built up ice off to get it working again. More recently, this has become more frequent and then stopped all together due to excessive ice buildup.
    I did seal the unit over a year ago in case the warm air thing was the issue and that did not work either.
    After watching this video, I defrosted the ice maker with a hairdryer and removed the unit to ensure all the built up ice was removed before reinstalling.
    When I went to raise the front as described here, I noticed that the left front roller was already off the ground about the prescribed height of 1/4 inch or so, when I checked the right side, the roller was completely on the ground so I raised it to the height of the left one. I reinstalled the ice maker, plugged it back in and let it cool down and it started making ice a few hours later. It has been three weeks and I am noticing regular ice production, as well as an additional issue with excessive water dripping along with ice when dispensed has been eliminated. I do believe this has fixed the problem and I want to thank you for taking the time to post this video. It looks like you have helped many frustrated Samsung ..... Ill call them “users” not “customers” since I think most of us agree this will be our last Samsung product. Thanks again!

    Hi, mine freezes over on the back right only (right side of the back of tray). So my worry of lifting if seems like it will only create more spills to the back. Would you suggest I lift only the right side of the fridge so it tilts more left? Common sense tells me since it spills (freezes over) back right side is to lift the back right corner of my fridge only, to get the water to level more front left side? Thoughts Mr Vasquez?

  • @jerrylee5463
    @jerrylee5463 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    My Samsung refrigerator looks identical to this one. When I first installed it I adjusted the front higher so the doors would close automatically, but note that if you raise the front too high it will start beeping. Apparently it has a built-in tilt switch. Used mine with the front adjusted higher for about 3 years now with no problems but yesterday it had no ice and the bottom of the ice-maker was slightly frozen. I'll try sealing the edges if the problem reoccurs. I'll probably use electrical or clear tape rather than caulk.

    Great way to find a final solution to keep the problem from happening.
    Though I am still stuck at the part I cant gwt the tray put due to it being frozen in place.
    I am thinking some other possable solutiins may be to put some tape over the face and around the ice tray to keep warm air to flow in or cold air out, each time the freezer door is open.
    Another potential solution may be to pull the tray out once a week, so to make sure you can and to prevent it sticking shut.

      @TheQuarterbackX 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2velasquez - Thank you for the suggestion. That was the first thing I had tried. Though it did not have much of any gap for that how air to get into the tray.
      I will say through watching many videos, I gave it another try the next morning. And, I was able to open the tray. Once I did, there was not much ice in it. I also noticed I had turned the ice maker off to keep it from trying to keep it filling up. So, there was not much ice in it at the time. Maybe the ice melted out over time? I have noticed the ice dispenser door would drop a little.
      It works okay now. I am partly thinking seeing a video of how to pull and slide the ice tray out may have helped. It showed a lever to press on while trying to remove the tray, lifting up all the way on the tray to pull it out. I try hard not to force anything, because I tend to break a lot of things when I do. So, whenever there seems to be a little resistence, I back off. So how to open properly may have helped. Or, turning off the ice maker and letting it melt may have helped.
      Maybe if I had opened the despencer door, to used the blow dryer there instead, could have melted the ice quicker. With heat rising, cold air descending. Possable blow dryer a few time here and there. Instead of standing there hours like it seemed to break up the job a bit and not feel as frustrating.
      Just some thoughts. Maybe they will help others as well.

    • @deanwichert4771
      @deanwichert4771 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@2velasquez That is the design problem on these - The ice maker needs to be in the freezer section to prevent higher fridge temp heat transfer into the ice maker and partially melting the ice. When ejecting partially melted ice, it clumps together in the dump zone stopping ice production. Around the entire ice box can be sealed but the door seal, which isn't discussed enough, eventually fails also letting in warmer air. There is a good video on repairing the door seal. After watching that video I could see a gap in my door seal where 39 F air was entering the ice maker and corrected that. You could tell it wasn't sealing because liquid water would trickle out when initially calling for ice. Lastly, side by side units with the ice maker bin nearer the top of but in the freezer door like Whirlpool designs are superior. The vertical ice bin in the door also prevents auger motor burnout associated with horizontal mount bins that must occasionally drive against refrozen water at times plus they allow more usable freezer space.

      @@2velasquez There is. As of June it had gone to mediation. I read the lawsuit, it's documented that Samsung has been aware of this problem since at least 2015 and they know there is no fix for it. @@2velasquez So it took me way too long to realize this, but the design flaw is the trough in the door that catches the ice, this video may help the problem but doesn't solve the root cause. If you look closely, the trough doesn't create a seal when the door is closed so warmer air from the fridge gets into the ice maker all the time and every time you open the door warm air from your house is getting in there. This explains the wet ice and water pooling in the dispenser area. I fought Samsung for months, they finally gave me a full refund once I got BBB involved. I bought an LG fridge with the ice maker in the door and I'm very happy so far.

    One Samsung rep actually told me to do the opposite of this. Raise the front end higher. It made it worse. I will definitely try this instead.
    Everyone who has this problem should be following the class action lawsuit against Samsung because of this problem. It's been a known issue for many years in many models. www.classaction.org/media/bianchi-v-samsung.pdf
    Any modern refrigerator /icemaker that has a systemic problem with freezing over has a serious design flaw.
    I have to defrrost my icemaker just like this every 1-2 weeks.
    And Samsung has repaired/replaced and resealed the icemaker 4 times already. I have made at least 6 other calls to customer support and performed all of their troubleshooting suggestions.
    If possible I would advise anyone with this problem ro return the refrigerator. Don't let Samsung string you along with repairs that will only help for a few weeks at best. They are just trying to run out the warranty
    Best solution I have found is to use ice cube trays in my $3000 refrigerator
