Keyboard wack, but otherwise really nice. Especially manual fan control, this should become standard on all laptops. MFW sitting in class and the S740's fans ramp up to 100% while typing text

you can loosen the screw underneath the trackpad to make the click softer. Just don’t overdo it because it will probably make strange noise when the screw is too loose.

I’ve had great luck with Craigslist, you can often find high end products for the same price as mid range stuff, just used. Make sure to test it before buying and gg. Except I didn’t test my Embody chair and turns out the arm rest’s height adjustment broke. Good news is it’s still in warranty so I’ve got brand new arms coming in. Called up a retailer and they’re driving to me to repair it, what a save and excellent display of customer service. Makes me think even as a student that the $1500 price tag is reasonable. Above the keyboard and on the bottom panel of the laptop yes. Those can get painfully hot if you run the laptop at 100% for a while. The keyboard itself and palm rest area get very warm but I wouldn’t call them “hot”, especially not unbearable. I believe I showed a thermal camera in the video with temperatures of the surface

It’s a mix. You can ask classmates or coworkers to loan theirs to you or do an exchange for a week. Works well in cities like Toronto where everyone is wealthy. I know Joshua Valour also uses this method to review tons of $2000+ headphones with a similar channel size. I use other methods as well, some which are questionable but I guess if it’s in the name of being able to comfortably shit on a product if it’s truly embarrassing (like the Zephyrus G) then it’s fine within reason.

I need this laptop for architecture, because im a first year student. I am not going to do 3D Rendering or anything but just simple sketches and creating 2D plans. Would you think this laptop is good for me considering the price and does it have good enough performance that it might get me through 3D rendering in the future (when i start doing 3D rendering in school) or should i look at another laptop?

Oh yeah it'll handle something like Blender comfortably. I don't see you needing more performance than this for a student. If you do, you'd have to build a desktop to get something significantly faster. Also keep in mind schools have to make sure students are actually able to do the assignments and labs, they won't require you to handle a project that only $4000 desktops can run lol

i have the 15'' 2018 model and I hear about people complain about the battery life... I went into power management and lower the max power of the CPU to 98% in battery, plus using intel XTU to undervolt the CPU and Graphics. This does disables the turbo boost on the CPU, but for me it does not affects me at all. When I need to use it on battery mode, I will be doing my History papers, watching some TH-cam videos and general browsing. I went from around 4-5 hours max of battery life to around 6-8 hours without any major slowdowns. I do recommend trying this out if you want to take the laptop to campus without needed to bring the power brick.

Got this laptop with the 1660Ti, early January, and has loved using it since even tested it out with gaming on the HTC Vive no problem, in both iRacing and BeatSaber. and doesn't get too loud under use. Mine was though with the 1080p 144hz screen and the 6c/12t i7-9750h CPU. I did swap the 256GB SSD to a 1TB NVME and the HDD for a 500GB SSD I had laying around. And before swapping the SSD I got confirmation and a reference number that I was allowed to swap it without losing my warranty. the battery gets me for my use of light codding and youtube around 4-6 hours and if I really try I can get it to 7-8 hours and always set the screen to 60hz while not gaming to save battery.
EDIT: Forgot to say that I did get a D-brand skin for it since it gets fingerprint pretty easily, D-Brand doesn't have a listing for the 2019 Base Model, but the 2018 Base Model will work only a small cut to extend the hole around the ethernet jack in the bottom cover.
If someone got some questions, feel free to ask about it.

Can you do a differences between the base and advanced models and which one to pick because you can get either for $1900

    • @InfinityLabsTech
      @InfinityLabsTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I don’t do comparison videos because the amount of different combinations is impossible. If you do a 1v1 comparison, the number of combinations from 1 year of laptops (1 per week, 52 weeks in a year) would be 2^52 = 4.3 quadrillion 1v1 comparisons. There’s only 3 billion seconds in 100 years.
Anyway, get the base model if you NEED Ethernet and a 2.5” SATA slot. That is about the only reason. The advance model has better battery life, a better feeling keyboard, I assume they both have 144hz screens and an RTX 2060 because $1900. Advance model is the way to go, particularly the keyboard. I really dislike the weight of the switches on the base model. They’re very close laptops (practically speaking), and I’m ignoring very minor stuff like the slightly improved but still mediocre speakers, slightly thinner on the advance model, per key RGB backlighting vs single color, slightly better thermals to accommodate the higher RTX 2080 model on the advance model.

still though, ill tell you what it is like: the "thinness" is a tiny bit deceptive and it actually feels pretty heavy at first though youll get used to it. the 60 hz panel is decent quality, and honestly, works great for me even though yes, 144 hz would be better. ive done several things on it as of late, including fps games, video editing and general web browsing and it works perfectly for each of the aforementioned tasks with its balanced, gaming and creator modes respectively. they keyboard feels weird at first but i got used to it, and the software in which you customize it is nice. i upgraded it from the very slow 5400 rpm hdd inside to a 1 tb sata ssd and everything is very fast and works like a charm. as said in the video, for me the rtx 2060 option wasnt worth it since idrc about rtx, and in laptops a 1660ti is basically like a rtx 2060 minus the RT cores. overall I really like and enjoy this laptop and it feels very premium, though since the -$200 sale ended I cant really recommend it for price-to-spec ratio.

I would rather use a 4K IPS display rather than a 4K OLED because OLED is inconsistent with brightness, has burn in issues after extended use (talking after a year or two), and is harder to calibrate for color accuracy. A high end IPS will look much better than a high end OLED, which these Samsung panels are.
As for the RTX 2060, no. The games you listed are medium intensity. You’ll probably be getting 100+ FPS on all of those games at 1080p high graphics on the 1660 Ti. Does going from 100 to 130 FPS matter to you? And if a demanding game comes out in 3 years and you want to play it, do you mind turning the graphics down to high or medium to maintain 60fps? The RTX 2060 will help in 3 years, but by then you’ll have even thinner and lighter gaming laptops that look better, have better battery life, 1440p 120hz screens. It’s not just about performance, I’d rather have 7/10 performance with a great screen, trackpad and battery life than an ugly laptop with 10/10 performance but 4 hour battery that can’t even last through school.

Infinity Labs ok thanks a lot for answering my questions, it’s very useful for my choice and I have a last question : is 60fps comfortable to play with? And you just got +1 suscriber 😉 lol and do you have a link for buy it?

144hz is mainly beneficial to fast games like CSGO where everything happens really quickly and you're super focused. For more relaxed games like rocket league, and especially games like Tomb Raider, no it doesn't really matter. In fact, even for fast shooter games, I'm too focused on aiming and winning the game to notice any difference in frame rate. I can tell when it's 60hz vs 144hz, but I'm too focused on playing the game to care.
Check out Microsoft Store, they have this and you get 10% off if you're a student or $100 off for everyone else. www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/razer-blade-15-gaming-laptop/8wbbk21hm6mt Their extended warranty is also pretty neat, it covers accidental damage twice if that matters to you.

Brother After watching the whole review (I don't know if anyone asked this question before me or not) I want to let you inform something:
There r so many TH-camrs out there said that this base model has some real issue. Those are
    1. The trackpad doesn't respond or (right or left click) not working.
    2. Windows crash for heavy using thought, this laptop is built to use heavy.
    3. Some display problems.
    4. NVIDIA Graphics problem. (Not working while gaming and end up with crushing windows)
    5. Some other stuff with the motherboard which is not common for all.
My question is, do you have anything to say about my info? I mean, all of my info is not my opinion, all I have written is by watching reviews from different TH-camrs. I'm really interested in this particular model. That's why I just wanted to hear from you.
Have a nice day stay safe and sound.

I didn't experience any of those things on my particular unit. However, I always update Windows and the NVIDIA drivers before testing laptops because in the past, some games would crash and refuse to load because my drivers were out of date.
I also ran Battlefield V for an hour to heat up the laptop to record the surface temperatures and I didn't see any issues. Most likely software issues. If a reinstall doesn't solve it, I would get it replaced. This is usually why buying from a retailer is better than buying from the manufacturer. The return and replacement process is much simpler. Especially if you buy it from Microsoft.

@@InfinityLabsTech Ok then. The last thing is, as you are using and experiencing do you recommend this base model to your subscribers, who don't want the best but want the better considering the price?

Here's the thing. When you have a laptop that's cheap and powerful, it has to sacrifice build quality, keyboard, trackpad, battery capacity, thermals, speakers, and everything else. You say "I want an RTX 2060 and a Core i7, now let's make everything else as cheap as possible so we can maximize performance per dollar". If you want a minimal looking premium build (anodized aluminum), this is the cheapest gaming laptop that has that. Overall, I would tell you to check out the Lenovo Y740 and see which one you prefer. That's one of my favorite gaming laptops in the upper-mid range ($1400 on sale for an RTX 2060 I think) but it does have some sacrifices. 4 hour battery was one, but it also has excellent upgradability and pretty good thermals. Overall, I'd buy the Y740. That's my personal preference.
Actually, I just checked Lenovo's website and it's not on sale right now. They're on sale very often though so it might be worth waiting for it if you're not in a hurry to get a laptop right now. The 500-nit 144hz panel is surprising because almost every 1080p 144hz panel I've reviewed is around 280 nits (nits = brightness). Might be completely new tech. Good luck!
