      With respect to Intel, 10nm was SUPPOSED to have replaced 14nm literally YEARS ago, bringing with it a meaningful all around performance improvement - but, because they completely fucked up 10nm beyond recovery from the very beginning with these unrealistic benchmarks(remember the old wives tale about "Intel's 10nm is actually equivalent to TSMC's 7nm"? Well, that was the goal their intention anyway... ...if only it was that easy), they've been left with literally nothing but 14nm to produce high performance products on.
      I'm certainly not saying that Intel hasn't been milking consumers - they knew damn well that they SHOULD'VE been pushing core counts as their manufacturing technology allowed - but 14nm products in 2020 and later absolutely were never apart of Intel's original road maps, it was supposed to have been superceded by then. But, because 10nm couldn't be recovered(very efficient chips, very decent IPC increase, they MAY get yields to commercially viable levels at least for some products - but they can't even get close to their target clock speeds which, along with yields, have killed 10nm as a full product line replacement), the only choice that they've had is to continue pumping out 14nm products until the 7nm node development could be accelerated enough to bring it to market to replace 14nm with, which is supposed to be next year. Intel has even said that they only expect performance parity with 7nm, with 5nm projected to recover market leadership.

      AMD releases one good mobile CPU and suddenly all these laptop manufacturers were supposed to know to put it in their laptops 2 years ago? I just think it's unfair to blame the manufacturers that did go with Intel this time around because, guess what, Intel has had a better track record in mobile CPUs than AMD in the past. If AMD keeps this up, and there's manufacturers in like 2022 that are still not including AMD, then we can start pointing fingers.
      I'd rather have a good product with a good CPU than a half-baked product with a great CPU.

    • @ThatLaloBoy
      @ThatLaloBoy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@buttistedsuidice3296 idk about that. They should have seen the performance of Ryzen 3rd Gen on desktop as a sign that AMD was not messing around this time and I'm sure AMD told them what performance they could expect from the 4000 series. Even from the spec sheet alone, it should have been fairly obvious that Intel was just going to provide a slightly updated 14nm+++ processor with more cores without the added efficiency to compensate for it while AMD was going full on 7nm with lower TDP and higher IPC performance. I don't expect them to completely replace their lineup with AMD, but it seems pretty stupid to not have given at least one model with an AMD/RTX 2080 option. Or in Razor's case, not offering the option at all.

    I had my heart set on purchasing the Razer Blade 15 base with the 1660ti 144hz for £1650. I managed to find a store with one on display, but in person I was not that impressed. The display models lid did not line up with the base, it was really scuffed up and the speaker grill stickers (yes they’re just stickers!) were peeling off, it really didn’t seem that premium. I ended up with a Lenovo Y540 with an i5, 1660ti and 144hz for £960. It was replacing my AW m17 r2 i7 2070 max q which I had nothing but problems with. The Y540 is great, plays games perfectly and the laptop can cool the i5 correctly, so no more throttling. It runs nearly 10c cooler than the m17. Honestly with AW and Razer you’re just paying a premium for the name, and there are some real horror stories of Razer reliability/CS. I couldn’t be happier with the Lenovo and I saved nearly £700 for a similar specced laptop. An extra £200 gets you the i7 and bigger ssd if it’s a must for you. Just my 2 cents.

    Picked up one of these laptops at best buy for $1399, 2070 max-q. Runs everything I throw at it buttery smooth, usually over 100fps max settings 1080p. I disabled turbo mode on the cpu out of curiosity, temps went way down and gaming performance didn't change.

    I bought a Razer Stealth with a GeForce MX150. I love the chassis build, but everything else has been a major disappointment. The first one had audio popping issues, and had to be RMA'd. It took over a month. The second one arrived and all was good...for a little while. The audio is now crackling and popping anytime the power is plugged in. Audio in Dice games is just broken. When playing games, the CPU constantly locks itself to 1300 (ish) mhz. I have to pull the power cord and put it back in to get it to boost. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. The screen is meh, and I can't get used to the weird shift key... I plan to give the unit to a relative and get an Asus Zephyrus 14 with a Ryzen and 2060. Sorry Razer, I really, really wanted to like it.

    Very interested in a comparison between the Asus g14 and the 1660ti razer blade 15” 2020 as mentioned in this vid. Do you get more bang for your buck with the g14? Or does razers cooling tech edge off the ~$100 price differential? Even if it doesn’t, I think I would still buy the razer blade for Aesthetics and historically better brand resale value compared to asus laptops.
