That is my exact bike except for the screen. I got the BMW one thrown in on the deal without much haggling. You really do need a screen that gives some wind protection or else arms like Arnie as it gets hard to hang on without one! It's a pocket rocket and really so fast! Good review although I personally would have done it in Dynamic mode not Road. This has become a firm favourite mode for most occasions and I think it's the mode most riders would opt to use most of the time. The sound is much better as the second exhaust pipe opens wider letting the engine breathe better. The handling and engine response gets a little more lively without losing the safety of the ABS DSC etc etc. There is also a dongle supplied which plugs in under the seat and that releases Dynamic Pro (track) mode and switches off pretty much all the safety stuff, enabling wheelies, stoppies, drifting etc etc. It also enables Launch control which is absolutely fricking scary. I've used it just once and that was enough! 😳 Only to be used on the track unless your name is Valentino. This is one Awesome bike and I love it!

I added a Puig touring windscreen and it made a huge difference on the pulling on my wrists. I will say I think BMW does something very few motorcycle manufacturers do, they offer a bunch of different options. I don't know if there's a great aftermarket windscreen for this bike, but being able to have all the different options makes it pretty unique! Great review sir.

Hi Mark, I have made a decision and put a deposit on the all round BMW package. I can’t visit my approved dealer so it’s blind faith in approved used BMW, already though I feel confident as their policy is change tyres and 2 years warranty on a used machine.
The deal fell through Mark, the bike was not up to scratch for the money involved, they then tried to swing me by a new one covered in dust with a missing fork leg reflector.... Question: is it normal for the left handlebar switchgear to move on the handlebar as this happened on both bikes I looked at?
Very nice review Mark. I bought a second hand 2018 Ducati Monster 1200R at the beginning of Feb. It is terrific and although I looked at all the other naked and test rode a few - I just love this bike. It could do with an auto-blipper and I may retro-fit that but everything else is just great. The fully adjustable suspension is fun trying to get the right ride for these Western Pennine roads. Weather’s great now so will be out more on it - but it’s the Speedmaster’s turn today!! Anyway Mark - great work and thanks for all your efforts. Yours aye, Alan
So far Mark I’m loving this bike, it’s a longer wheelbase to my FZ1, so that makes it awkward in my shed to turn around.... It is lighter though. I have added a lot of Evotech stuff, rad guards, bobbins,, levers, tail tidy, though as my bike is under warranty ( 20 ) plate, their is some discussion as what you can add without falling foul of the warranty.... Arden said “ oh they were missing a trick as to fitting ra£ guards “, but Cannon ( the original supplier ) said they wouldn’t fit rad guards..... But they fitted my tail tidy ( Evotech ).
Hi Mark, Great review, great bike. My local BMW dealer had one of these on a 18 plate with about 900 miles for sale for most of this year, wanted £11,000 for it. I ummed and arghed about it. Went yesterday to see if they still had it with intention of buying, but it was nowhere to be seen. Lovely bike. Must have been sold. BMW guy reckoned the S1000R will get a revamp for 2021 with BMW's TFT screen, but 2020 will likely be last year in this spec. You mentioned your old GSXR 1000-K5. I guess they were too focus on updating the RR. Im actually a bit disappointed really. I mean the bike as it is is great. Im actually planning on the ‘19 RR but unfortunately the closest dealer we got still got the ‘18 version of the RR and they’re still not sure when will they have the ‘19. Then i saw the next best thing S1000r and its cheaper but saw that it wasnt as upgraded as much as the RR. I guess i’ll just wait for the RR as planned. Still. The R is a good bike none the less
Oh and by the way this is the first time ive watched your video. And i quite like it. The huge plus that really made me sub is your fast reply on my comment. Keep up the good work man. About to watch more of your videos
Hard choice Rob,think the triumph sounds a tiny bit better with the arrow cans ,but the BMW has the edge on power ,I felt the BMW to be more agile too ,so my choice would be the BMW .....just :)
My dilemma as well. This or a Speed Triple RS. Also buying a BMW doesn't really sit comfortably with me. Don't get me wrong fabulous bike but have never bought into the BMW Bayerische Motor Werks, history and all. For me I think it would be one of the others SDR, Z1000 or MT10 if not Speed Triple RS. Also a non adjustable cable clutch would be a deal breaker for me as we are in the realm of premium bikes. The Tuono doesn't even have a fuel gauge. You'll need one at the rate it guzzles fuel. Unbelievable. But so many good bikes to choose from.
Your not going to get a crap one with either, I have the speed rs love it so flickable and sticks to the road, real quality bike, hubby has the s1000r which Ive ridden occasionally but personally I prefer speed, bars and riding position feel better, engine feels smoother to me. So many good bike out there now.

Is this Chris Packham doing the review?
Haha that made me laugh out loud 😂
Know that pub very well! Great bike but prefer the look of the Tuono V4 1100
Great review, as always. Pleased you did a review on the S1R. I love my Gen2 S1R
Hi mark
Just found your channel excellent reviews my favourite is BMW 1000r eying one today at local bike fest
Interesting to note ride height is suitable for shorter riders currently Street Triple R
Have you ridden triumph thrust on r yet as I tried one out for something different what do you think to the idea of cafe racers
Hi Nigel no haven't tried the thruxton r but do like the look of cafe racers ,I have a review on the speed twin which I think is similar performance to the thruxton all the best mark
traded my 16 s1000r for a 18 Z900. miss the Bimmer. really a fantastic naked with a lot of flavor for a inline 4. That said do LOVE my Z900 even though it snot as sporty as the Bimmer ( have a Gixxer 750 for more focused sport riding)
Hey mate what year is your gsxr 750?
Which ones quicker your gsxr 750 or your old s1kr? Say 50-250kph
Cheers
Is this the newest s1000r? 2019? So they didnt change the instrument panel to fully digitized like the s1000rr?
Hi no it's pretty much unchanged since 2015. I believe there is a new model coming out next year MP
@@krayzieegg7294 my local dealer recons they will have a demo 2019 rr in June or July ,then actual orders in a few months after :)
Oh and by the way this is the first time ive watched your video. And i quite like it. The huge plus that really made me sub is your fast reply on my comment. Keep up the good work man. About to watch more of your videos
@@krayzieegg7294 great thanks for the sub. Mark
Just had a test ride on one today Mark. Loved it, but can't decide between this & Speed triple RS??? What do you think?
The s1000R :)
Your not going to get a crap one with either, I have the speed rs love it so flickable and sticks to the road, real quality bike, hubby has the s1000r which Ive ridden occasionally but personally I prefer speed, bars and riding position feel better, engine feels smoother to me. So many good bike out there now.
You're so right with so many great bikes to choose from? I have ridden a lot on test rides & I still not sure what to have?? Like most people, I need more money & a bigger garage!....
This or a mt10
"A crap ovic" exhaust? What's one of them lol? 🤔
Is this the bike that vibrates you to bits? Nice review Mark, not a fan of the odd headlights arrangement but, everything else seems top drawer
Hi ,no your thinking of the bmw s1000xr adventure missile,it had a bit of a bad press for vibes at cruising speeds which i believe they have rectified now :) MP
No. Mine's smooth as.. I believe the earlier ones may have had some issues but these were all sorted out by 2018
Did you look under the pillion seat? Is there enough room for a decent sized disc lock?
Hi ,if it doesnt have an alarm in there then yes itll be fine to fit a decent disc lock all the best mark
@@markpulling12 thanks, I need a test ride. Took an MT10 out today and hated it.
Currently on an FZ1S that I've had for 7 years and I'm struggling with changing it.
You are not really doing the bike justice sure the brakes are fantastic but on an open road like you are on
do not change up before 7k, I ride my sons 2018 model and the acceleration and popping on the downshift is awesome.
I can assure you once the camera was switched off i gave the bike justice !! All the best mark
Ha thanks Mark, Maybe blur the speedo? So we can all enjoy the sounds and how hard this awesome bike goes.
@@barryross8382 I agree - give it some welly with the speedo blurred out. Toodling along at 35 in 4th is a waste. This bike could probably do a ton in 1st.
Nice bike but can't think why I would want this over the xr variant.
Yep agreed. The xr is just as fast plus you can properly tour on it :)
what's the average mpg
About 40 mpg Dale
@@markpulling12 that's good for 1000cc bike
next year they will upgrade this old thing as well. this has been around long time too. needs a little facelift
Cheers Mark
Well I got one Mark....
Ahh brilliant how's it going
@@markpulling12 it gets better each time I ride it, the bike that keeps on giving!!!
@@raymolaverda3432 yes I remember it well ... awesome !!
@@markpulling12 I’m unable to post a photo here!!!
It’s white HP!
Well done
Just like the Tuono, nice bike but lacking versatility for the money. Might as well go the whole 9 yards and get the RR, RSV4, etc.
What kind of versatility do u need?
@@tuyenhoang5546 Wind protection, passenger space, luggage space...
@@mickgarbutt3553 tuono has aftermarket taller windscreen. Biggest passenger space out of any naked bike with the RR version and you can mount all kind of luggage you want. Not sure if you even know what it looks like
@@mickgarbutt3553 i mean win protection lol it's a naked bike ffs. Might as well get a GS1200 or nultistrada for all your requests. Different bikes different purposes
@@tuyenhoang5546 That's exactly my point!
No walkaround...
Looks so dated to me ... No clutch adjustment , engine vibes , powerful but characterless engine (I rode one recently) New version will probably be out next year so until then i think there are better bikes to be had for 13 grand.
And what bike would that be.
@@samvictor38 Having recently ridden the Triumph speed triple and the MT 10 too for me they seemed to be more characterful . The BMW may have a few extra BHP but it lacks the wow factor in my opinion .
@@samvictor38 the tuono rr perhaps?
Honda CBR One Thousand Double Effin' R! ........... is better. This and the S100RR! SP Edition, YO! :)
Huh? If a guy can afford the s1000rr i dont think youll think twice on which bike youll buy. Beemer hands down.
