Great review. I like the way all opinions are discussed and it’s not a pure ranking competition. The reality is, with these bikes, they’re all the nuts.
I grew up here in New Zealand riding Honda's (who still make great bikes) but in 2015 I brought an Aprilia Tuono 1100RR, which was a great bike with great build quality and outstanding performance for a naked and the sound it made with the standard pipe was intoxicating, fast forward to today and I have taken delivery of the latest Tuono RR and man I thought this bike couldn't get any better, but the auto blipper downshifter, bigger brakes and the TFT dash is in another world, everything that I wanted in the last one is on the new one. I have fitted an Akrapovic pipe with the Aprilia race map and boy this thing hauls and sounds outstanding. I'm really happy with this bike well done Aprilia!
Here's the thing tho to take into consideration, I always wish that in these comparisons they would take into consideration reliability. I LOVE THE TUONO, BUT I live in utah USA and there's NO Aprilia dealers writhing 1,200 miles SO dealer service isn't an option and for a bike that has horrible reliability reputation has to be something to consider. If the Tuono was a very reliable bike like the Yamaha , I'd buy a Tuono and spend a bit more but when there's serious known issues with gearboxes grenading , valve jobs that are very expensive and need to be done much more regularly than anything else. The parts and service are all very expensive relatively speaking, at the top end of costs . In this compassion there's no mention of reliability or dealer support which plays a HUGE part! Also interesting to note that while they kept saying the MT10 is down on power and hownits noticeable at the track, it's the quickest 0-60mph of any of these , even the torque monster 1300 cc superduke R. So top end back straight power down a hair but quicker out of the hole and to 60mph. Also a good thing to note, I got my FZ10 new on 2017 at the launch and I paid $9,200 OUT THE DOOR! Not $12,999! A lot of dealers ordered too many and had to dump some at cost to keep dealer allocation up. I didn't have $1,400 of dealer fees the other bikes have and have the best and longest warranty with thenlargest dealer network, lowest parts and service cost and the most reliable manufacturer in the world with the FZ10. SO i went FZ10 , had it 2 years with not one issue, only sold becaue of divorce and I'm buying another one I loved it so much. As they stated also, the power is neutered by the cat and regs . I dropped the 25lb cat which is a huge weight drop , did a $130 cat delete y pipe , race air filter for that huge air box and sent the ECU to NelsTune to be flashed to my mods, came back with 178.5 hp at the crank more than the Tuono and superduke , and cost less than $600 for all of it. All in all I had a FZ10 with more horsepower than any of these for less than $10,000 ,..I can't justify spending another $9,000 for s superduke or $6,000 for a Tuono rr . If they'd said u can find the FZ10 for $9,000 new out the door , they'd of all determined the FZ10 as winner but at 13k and with the power restricting cat on I get it to a point but certainly can't say the Tuono is the winner when you can't count on it reliability wise and when something goes sideways your talking about $2,000 minimum and NO dealers around. Just my 2 cents. Again not a Yamaha fanboy, I LOVE Aprilias but the fact is they have a horrible track record for reliability , their very very expensive to repair parts and labor , and there's no dealer network unless you live in Italy. That's a problem.
In a test like this taking reliability in consideration is pretty hard for them. This is because these guys often test these bikes right after launch or ride the bikes just a couple of days. If you really want to know more about reliabillity it might be a better choice to watch some long therm reviews. I think you made a good choice with your Yamaha!
Reability is not a issue any more. That is 10 years back and yes the italians are not on the same level as the japanese bikes in terms off quality. But italian bikes are so sexy and is so more rewarding to own and drive. Its like owning a Lamborghini compared to a camry.
Very nice review. I've been riding for 27 years and have owned a few big bore bikes. The main reason I purchased the FZ 10 is Yamaha makes the most bullet proof bike on the planet IMO. Great price. Great street bike. The most fun I have ever had on a motorcycle!
Yamaha Honda and Kawasaki are most reliable. I have owned about 30 bikes. 2 current bikes are vtx1800 and cbr1000rr. I had bad luck with Suzuki both with gs500 and hayabusa.
FZ10Rider hey fz10rider! 👍👍 agreed ! I almost went Tuono Factory but over $20,000 out the door!!!! Poor reliability record and no dealer within 1200 miles of me so I went FZ10 and found one a week after launch in California for $9,200 OUT THE DOOR! $3,700 under MSRP. Cali dealer ordered 12 of them for launch , 9 in grey /fleur and hadn't sold one in the first week so they put 2 of the grey on cycletrader at cost ($9,200) to keep dealer allocation up, I found it on cycle trader and had money transferred the next day site unseen. Owned 2 years and loved the hell out of it!
Love the main presenter guy’s coolness and realistic real works enthusiasm. Very thorough review - like how you measure the bikes yourselves and cut through manufacturer bs like many UK and European journos don’t, as they’re hypnotised on press launches and seem to be all hoping for future PR jobs with bike manufacturers for better money than they get for papers and magazines. Really feel I will pull the trigger on a Tuono now even though there’s hardly any dealers in the uk.
ABNER ONER id loooove an update also to know how reliability has been and if he lives near a dealer. I went FZ10 becuse no dealers within 1200 miles of me and the reliability of the Tuono is about as bad as they come with expensive topnend costs for parts and service when it does go bad. A Tuono Factory is $20,000 out the door new ,..got my FZ10 new for $9,200 out the door at launch, half the price of a Tuono Factory . I like the looks of the Tuono Factory better and Ohlins , Brembo etc but not double the price better.
Cody G a better performing bike for sure BUT serious questions with reliability , and top end cost of parts and service when it goes wrong, and no dealer networks . I want a Factory 1100 badly but no Aprilia dealer within 1200 miles and a poor reliability record he me go FZ10 and I LOVED IT!!!
thats because this is paid advertising from the manufacturers. they wont say they hate any because then their magazines wouldnt get press bikes. and that means no more cushy hotels free bikes, and customers
@jack black I dunno man, they always come with a winner all this time except this one. every streetfighter/supernaked shootout always have a winner all this time, so when they only pick 4 out of 9 bikes in this class (no z1000, gsx-s1000, brutale and monster, or EBR) and says "there's no losers here" I think they really pick the best player on this class right now. and these 4 bikes actually compete really close on each other. all the reviewers actually clearly shows their personal preference in the end of the video, so what they mean with "no losers" is maybe all the bikes in this video is just that equally good/compete with a really close gap. maybe I'm too naive :)
jack black I don't think so. I've rode all 4 of these when deciding what to get after selling my 2015 Yamaha R1M and LOVED them all,..in the end I got a new FZ10 for $9,200 out the door froma. Dealer in California that ordered too many in grey/fleur so I went FZ10 but all 4 are Sooooo close in performance there really was no looser, I LOve the Aprilia but lack of dealer support and reliability questions turned me to the much less expensive Yamaha . And yes less hp than the others but it's quicker 0-60mph than all of these so depends on where u want the power. Also, not sure where they got their #,..maybe a dud becuse the crank hp is 160 where the Tuono and ktm are 175,..that's 15hp difference , the BMW is 160 as well. Butntheri saying 25 hp difference???? Mine dynod at 148 whp stock ,..only 12 off the Tuono. Trulynthink they got a dud. 15 crank hp doesn't equate to 25 whp. It's backwards.
@@MZ-bl6wg 3/4 M4 and a flash/tune on my '19 MT-10 and it made 164hp to the rear wheel on the dyno. It's got more character and it more fun than the rest, in my humble opinion!
Great review as always, thanks for this! But a couple of suggestions: let's not talk about horsepower so much, it means something but at the same time not so much. There are times when a bike with half the horsepower can be twice the fun, depending on the type of riding. Instead of spec sheet information, what is really useful in a video would be things like: - How easy / comfortable is it to lane-split each bike through say, an hour of LA traffic? At the end of doing that, which bike would you pick to go to work every day for the next year or two? - Which one feels more relaxed (or frenzied) at everyday speeds? - How accessible is each bike across a range of rider heights? (put the shortest tester on each bike, doing emergency stops on an off-ramp with a lot of road camber / road crown) - Speak to maintenance. Which one needs valve checks often, which has the best dealer network, which is most DIY-friendly etc. - Which one feels more *fun* in daily riding? (not necessarily the same as which one is fastest) But again, thanks for this great content, I really am nitpicking on free content, that's not the intention, just a few suggestions that's all.
Natarajan Shanker honestly your opinion is exactly what I was watching the video for... I too wish it was more broken down this way as well as I’m looking to purchase one of these options within a few months.
Hi bro may be u can answer me . with all the full Akrapovic shits Akra Map included without the catalyst and canister and sas sytem removed you can have about 174 HP at rear wheel for the Superduke 2.0 Do you know about the others bike if u do approximately the same in HP ?
Pomplardpanam decat y pipe , race filter and NelsTune gets 178.5 crank hp for the FZ10 yes crank not whp. 167ish at the wheels. Their FZ10 was a dud, mine dynod 148.5 hp stock. Far from 135.
That is nice bro but now for me this is not enough i have used Pizza Pani V4 2K18 from Bologna forza la pizeriath-cam.com/channels/PO1DskJHi5OKrX3BaK1cXA.htmlvideos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=0&view_as=subscriber i'm about to upgrade that shit in few month N i predict 190 BWHP at the wheel stock N with my futur upgrades it will be close to 200 BWHP With love from Paris
A most intelligent unbiased review review. So nice to see the sense of track testing rather than some on here who boast of shredding driving licenses. Not a good idea sitting on a bike with the centre stand taking your weight..
I am a bit biased since I got the 2017 superduke. But I threw full akra evo 2 on it and a map. A whole lot of powerparts and I just love it! I think it looks so much better then the rest.
Hey Koos gaat dat goed? Ik ben 2 meter en een paar centimeters, ik rij nu een ktm 990 supermoto maar wil ooit over naar de 1290 superduke! Vette machine
Its got to be Aprilia all the way! Im biased i have a tuono factory 2017. From the go it was mind blowing. What a stable and epic machine. Roll on 2018 snd lets eat some tarmac! Chiao 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Hi Rapid R. How is your Tuono in low traffic in town? Is it unrideable under 20-30 m/h as reported? I understand that Tuono is enjoyable only if the rev are above 6,000? Is this true? Do you commute on your bike in town? How is your experience? Thanks
Aimé Yann Hi mate, my tuono is really good through town i use clutch to smooth ride out. I dont commute on it but go for very loong rides (300 miles a go)
I plan to buy one. I was wondering if it will be the right choice as I live in central London. I used to have a Speed Triple R, and if the Tuono is as smooth as the Speed is in town - low traffic, I am going to love it. Thanks for your reply and Merry Christmas.
Aimé Yann for central london it will be good just becarefull of the moped thieves i have two friends who commute on bmw s1000rr and r1m and booth have had attempted roberies. Make sure your key is covered at traffic lights when you buy.
Aimé Yann Tuono ‘17 Factory owner here as well. This bike is not really for city use. It likes to go fast, and go through the gears dynamically. There have been map refreshes and I’d say it’s quite nimble already with proper fueling and stable at slow speed ride. But You’ll feel as if You were driving a Viper and tiptoeing on the gas. Man, this thing wants to go as fu@%! It turns You into a hooligan. So if You’re a type of guy, who can resist the temptation and be OK with the less satisfying sound under 5K rpm, then this bike is for You. But as someone, who used to own a CB1000r and switched to a Tuono Factory I can tell You, it’s like switching between a pony and a stallion. You want to rip every time!!! 😂😂
I just sold my 2017 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 factory after only 10 months. The bike is fast, good looking, sounds like a MotoGP bike, awesome brakes, good suspension and dives into corners like a champ. However, it will roast you in the summer with HEAT and the riding position is weird, a bit aggressive but still more comfortable than superbikes. Basically, it's a superbike with handlebars, not really a true naked bike. This bike is great for riders who ride track and street, if you don't ride track like me than you are doing yourself a disservice by getting this bike. Also, Aprilia does not like to pay for warranty work and they said if you put an aftermarket exhaust on the bike your warranty is voided because it's no longer street legal and they said Aprilia does not warranty track bikes.
These types of reviews are great, not focused only on specs. The overall riding experience is what most buyers are looking for. Sometimes you don't have the opportunity (depending on your location) to ride all the bikes under the same condition, or even to ride them at all. For me the nearest Aprillia dealer is 400 miles away, so thinking ahead, the availability of spare parts and service is a decision factor . In that realm Yamaha, BMW, KTM are ranked in that order of service availability. You want to keep the 2/3 year guarantee on these bikes no matter what. More HP more electronics to control them, more electronics more expensive to fix. By looks 1. Aprillia 2.BMW 3.FZ10 4 KTM (I'm not a fan of the headlight). Price, up front sticker price can scare away potential buyers, but don't let that stop you, there might be the right deal waiting for you. For me BMW S1000r is the bike I'll be buying soon. I'm a beginner rider - 15,000 miles on a FZ07. 80% City - high traffic 19% Roads 1%Track ++++I would say any of these bikes are for city/ high traffic/ filtering riding, they'll get too hot.+++++ this is my opinion.
Just bought the Tuono 1100 V4 Factory. Thank you gentlemen for affirming my purchase! It if wasn't for this stupid virus I'd have my Acra Full titanium evo exhaust (complete with Race ecu flash) on er already ☹. One hell of a way to social distance though, frickin' Love It!
Been riding Aprilia for 9 years now. Still the best bike for the money, new or old. The Gen 1 and 2 are the best kept secret in motorcycling, whether we are talking Tuono or RSV.
Great review guys, I took delivery of my 2017 s1000r sport back in March when it landed here and Iv been in love with it ever since 🌹 I call it my fast sports tourer and it’s becoming more and more Carbon with every passing month. Stay safe, Matt the fan from the UK
I now own a 17 Tuono V4 factory, fun bike but it's not really that much comfortable than my 12' cbr1000rr and it will heat you up like an oven unlike my cbr. I need to try owning the SDR next! So far my former Ducati XDiavel S was the most fun and comfortable around town but I don't trust the reliability and parts are too dam expensive, so I sold it but I miss riding it and the ladies loved it.
S1000r electronic suspension and agility really are a class above the others in terms of providing real world comfort and pace enhancing feature. Ive ridden them all and have a 2016 s1000r WITHOUt the wheels and even there the agility advantage is noticeable --easily!
Just bought the 2018 MT-10 left over for $10,799... and I love this thing. It may be down a few hp to the others in this list, but riding it in the real world you'll never feel that... it's A BEAST!! Love the Tuono, but Yamaha for longevity and price... hard to beat.
Sara Zelli I guess when you look at the specs of Ktm and the speeds and power that come with it, maybe there is something far more than street the bikes are capable of , and wind protection just makes it a value addition
I loved the Super Duke but I wanted long trip wind protection, baggage, and a bit better passenger accommodations. That was before the GT came out so I got a Multistrada. I wasn't disappointed. You could butcher a Super Duke into being something it wasn't meant to be, but really, buy it knowing you're buying an engine with wheels and that you're going to be happy spending $18k to bomb around local roads and you won't be disappointed.
AchimDuke but how often is it in the shop? Do u have a dealer near you? I love the Factory but no Aprilia dealers and hear a lot of bad about reliability. Also double the cost of the fz10.
Kischardio well if it isn’t mr fz10 super duke! Love your videos, been watching your channel since you had the fz09. Watched your videos a lot while I was waiting for my fz09 lol
The MT-10 wins in every competition purely on price. I got mine brand new for $10,700 or $13,000 out the door. And yes it puts out less power because the ECU is restricted from the factory. After mods my bike is an absolute animal.
In some european countries the MT10 costs about the same as the aprilia, just saying for almost 15k its underpowered, the suzuki on the other hand its really good bang for buck liter bike
Good review but for about $200 you can re flash the black box and gain an instant 15 hp which gets it close to some of these bikes. I've got one and it easily pulls the front wheel up at 100 mph
I prefer Japanese bikes and their relatively low maintenance costs. I'm sure the Aprillia is going to cost far more in general maintenance and when something breaks.
Nobody is figuring the cost of electronics repairs are they? Ouch. Can’t fix it we don’t know what’s wrong. It’s gonna be this much $$$$ for such and so module. We hope that will fix it. LOL
I think the Aprilia Tuono more or less have won every shootout since the first V2 in 2006. They really take the experience from the racetrack to streetbikes, and they look quality when you see them upfront close.
Looks are subjective but not in performance, the aprilia has more power and its faster, period. Faster in straights, corners, street and track. And Im not even talking about the factory, just the regular one. The factory its the Daddy in this class
just more torque not more horsepower, measure it at the wheel and the aprilia has 4-5 more hp, its just the fastest bike in class followed by the bmw. And let me know when KTM figures out how to adjust the electronics on the fly, last time I checked you had to stop, really, im not kidding. Meanwhile i can adjust TC at any time instantly and just have to pull the clutch for engine maps. One hell of a bike the Ktm just not as good as the Aprilia
go to KTM's and aprilias website, the aprilia measures in at 175.something horsepower, and the duke comes in at 177.something horsepower. The duke also has about 1300cc's at its disposal, compared with the aprilias 1100. And it has more torque.
Aprilia YES! I have a 2013 RSV4 Facotry SBK SE and a 2020 Tuono Factory. Amazing machine with the best sounding engine ever put in a streetbike. Smiles for miles.
I test rode the FZ-10 /MT-10 @ the Long Beach M/C show last month... I was SO impressed with the riding position and virtually no wind blast... How could that be on a naked...? Waiting for Yamaha to bring the MT-10 "Sport Touring" Version like the EU is getting.
Love riding just like the next guy but at 20K or even 15K its just too much $ for a bike. At 12K list price and if you waited for dealers end of the year sales for 11K-10K it’s got to be the Yamaha MT10. Plus the bike responds really well to re mapping and exhaust 150hp
Robert Powers agree and a dark horse not mentioned here is the Gsxs1000 - quicker (marginally) than the MT/fz and a great price... Just a few bits need upgrading on them
Birky 41 agree a local dealer was trying hard to give his brand new 2016 GSXS 1000 away for 2K under MSRP...loved the look of it and could have modified it with every upgrade available for under 12K. I’m waiting for the all black 2018 review and then I’ll make my decision.
The one thing that puts the Suzuki infront of the FZ10/MT10 is that it allows for much higher leanangles. But Suzuki deliberately made the throttle response very aggressive wich made it hard for me to ride smooth and "round" like i always do. Im no streetracer so i much prefered the throtthe response of the MT10. But then again i only took the 2 out for a short testride.
xXxTripleHxXx ther are literally dozens of videos on u tube of guys re-flash/mapping and adding aftermarket pipe with dyno runs. This smooths/corrects those problems you described jerky(off/on) throttle response. FYI the 2018 was supposed to address this, waiting patiently for a review!
At 15 grand the Tuono is a steal. The FZ-10 would be a real good second choice ... if it was about 500-1000 cheaper. Once you've added aftermarket goodies to the FZ-10 to get it to the level of the rest of them you are basically at 15 grand into the bike. Meanwhile with the Tuono, literally just get the bike, slap an Akrapovic system on it and call it a day.
Pvk Jhilk wtf how is it overpriced when lots of ppl calling it best p/p? Also you can get it for 15k otd almost anywhere in the US for a brand new '17 model. It's a V4 with TFT display, QS, brembo m50 and really good Sach suspension. So which part of this bike is overpriced?
I love these shootouts! You guys always do a great job! I love the super bike category but when I’m older these may be a good option! So I always like hearing everyone’s opinion.
I dont know why you spend so much time talking about the mt-10 HP deficit which is purely a fuel mapping issue, and then gloss over the fact that the issue is totally resolved with a flash, as if people looking in this class won't pursue an aftermarket exhaust or fuel remap to begin with.
@@leftvassis EU version is about 140 bhp @wheel and 150-ish with 2/3 exhaust and tuned PCV. With ECU remap maybe even more. Stock S1000R is a bit quicker off the line than remaped MT-10 in a drag race but that is also due to the gearing.
Glossed over it? Burns said as much when he was downplaying the HP difference. I do agree that they could have focused more on the MT-10's comparatively crappy brakes, the relatively comfy ergonomics and the tendency to wheely (although maybe it's less prominent on the US versions if they are neutered).
Definitely Aprilia, and considering you can get a 17 in the 13k range right now it's definitely worth buying. I bought mine in September and have already put 5k miles on it. Just can't stay off it, and besides chewing up the rear tires it hasn't skipped a beat!
Been waiting for your shootout, did not disappoint. Standard Aprilia circle jerk- can't fault ya, there's a reason for the universal praise. I am surprised the big man was so unaffected by the ergos though, at 5'11 245 a 15 min ride on the aprilia crushed my wrists- the only deal breaker in an otherwise badass package :(.
Benjamin Hatef Try out a Monster 1200. I'm 6' @ 250 and I can ride mine for most of the day. Although more than 2 hours highway riding is a little stressful on the legs.
Tuyen Hoang lol! Problem is after years of wrestling in college it's not fat weighing me down so much, if it was that'd be an easy fix :/. I wouldn't expect Aprilia to accommodate people like me though you are definitely right- Not the average Italian here.
Great review (and great job you guys have). The Super Duke definitely wins in the looks department. The fuel economy results are kind of staggering, 31 mpg for the bike with the smallest engine and least power is pitiful. I have to admit I've hated Yamahas since I babysat a 2002 FZ1 through all it's stupid problems and Yamaha doesn't fail to keep giving me reasons. I don't know what it is about big twins but they seem to have legs these days, my Multistrada gets MPG numbers that seem like I must be doing the calculation wrong. I've had 51 MPG doing 75 mph all day through Nevada and Utah, and it "drops" to 41 if I ride it as hard as I dare up gnarly mountains at home. 51! That's a number that would be a marketing bullet point for a Honda 500cc twin.
Tuono is not just 2k more. It’s 2k and lack of peace of mind once the warranty is over- meaning everyone is looking to dump their bike as soon as the warranty period ends which only worsens the resale value of the thing, and it’s almost guaranteed there will be one after another major issue. And no one mentioned how rather ugly the front of the Yam is, but how it’s reliability and lower maintenance cost is significantly ahead of the competition. To me the right tradeoff is the bimmer. Tuono is a big oh no.
Tuono top of my wish list but reckon the s1000r is the one I'd want to live with. Especially with the forged wheels just to get that smaller bike agility.
I scored a 17 FZ10 a few months ago with 41 miles on it and almost everything already done. I updated the tune with a mail order from Chris Moore. Need to get it on the dyno. I added a Puig touring screen and really like it a lot. I almost bought a 15 S1000R with really low miles, but it sold the day I found it.
I love all these bikes, but if you're shopping with a price in mind you definitely have to go with the fz-10, especially when you have to think about the cost of ownership and servicing
This is missing from "recent shootout" playlist. Btw it is interesting to see the bikes lined up like this on the track while you were talking. You get a great idea of the size of the bikes and ergos, check the height of the handle bars, cool.
I disagree for the Yamaha mt-10, it's the most supernaked and street bike that I can ever think of, but I have to agree for Aprilia and the BMW they are basically sportbikes
Nice to see my FZ10 up there with the big boys! I am going to make it a mission next year to go test ride the Tuono next year I have to see what the fuss is about. NOTE TO SELF DO NOTE BUY ANOTHER BIKE :)
TheChosen_1 unless you plan on riding the bike at the track, you really won’t miss a lot of what the Tuono offers over the FZ-10. The Tuono is a beast on the track.
J Hawk I'd agree - I love my Tuono V4, but the Yamaha is a great, great road bike. The best way I've heard the Tuono described is as medicine for sports bike owners who want a naked. It's less comfortable / practical - but in return you not stepping too far away from superbike expectations.
Nice review, guys. I'm really glad you mentioned the "EPA neutering" on the FZ, and that you can fix it, even if it's not "official". It annoys me when a brand new bike loses too many points for little things like pegs, grips, mirrors, and seat. I mean, you're going to change out the little $200 things you don't like, so even if it doesn't come exactly right, you can do what you want to it. When I compare 2 bikes, I think "what will these look like after I've spent $500 on each of them?" That can really change the outcome drastically.
Awesome review, guys! I’m looking forward to seeing a updated review for 2019...perhaps with the Aprilia Tuono Factory?? I am seriously considering the 2019 Aprilia Tuono Factory for my next bike...trading in my 2014 Kawasaki ZR1000GEFA...nice upgrade I think!!
If money is no option I would go with superduke it's a proper supernaked ( Aprilia is not a naked ) . Yamaha is awful looking bike finish of the back where light is - very cheap , around 100 miles to a tank it's no go to me . I went with gsxs1000 same power ,same handling I did more than a 200 miles on a tank recently and still had some petrol left . Induction noise is fantastic . Only what is missing is a better rear shock and is twice less than ktm
I too would go with the super Duke if not for the price as it is the best super naked out there. Aprilia is not really a super naked its just a barely stripped down rsv4 !!!! Just put on a wind shield wisor n get goin in the beast!
adrian tompson riding this bike on a motorway doing around 80 it's what you are getting. It was one of the reasons I went with Suzuki instead of Yamaha. I don't know about you but I'm using my bike to go somewhere
Well done gents. I always enjoy watching the shootouts. I’m torn between an adventure bike (F800/850 GS, Husky 701 Enduro) or a super naked. Two totally different classes of motorcycle, but can’t make up my mind as to if I want to go on an adventure ALL the time, or sprint around town. Nonetheless, very well produced video!
Great review. I like the way all opinions are discussed and it’s not a pure ranking competition. The reality is, with these bikes, they’re all the nuts.
I find your guy’s videos the very most enjoyable on TH-cam. Light, honest and most importantly sincere. Keep up the great work!
Understandable. Iam so sold. Really want one. Now I just need to figure out if I want to prioritize the cash for it :-)
I’ll stick with the Yamaha. Lower entry price, last longer, cheaper parts and maintenance.
@@srtspeedy4983 You've never piloted an MT-10 I'd imagine...
@@VState60 yes I did own one in 2019. The aprilia is even better.
The Tuono is far from unreliable! 1000cc had valve spring problems but they addressed that with the 1100.
Very nice review. I've been riding for 27 years and have owned a few big bore bikes. The main reason I purchased the FZ 10 is Yamaha makes the most bullet proof bike on the planet IMO. Great price. Great street bike. The most fun I have ever had on a motorcycle!
how long can you ride with a full tank?
The low fuel light will start flashing at about 105 mi. You can go 130 mi. before you really have find a gas station
Sometime some wind deflection is useful.
Really feel I will pull the trigger on a Tuono now even though there’s hardly any dealers in the uk.
only thing i dont like is when he says bitchen, like is he trying to sound cool aha
Aprilia all the way. I recently got converted from my FZ10 to a 17 Tuono Factory.
Cody Gomez damn that’s what up!!! I just want a fz10
Cody Gomez 1 year update? Where you happy with your conversion? Did you feel there were substantial differences from your transition?
"spoiler alert, there's no losers here", damn I love that words Kevin!
thats because this is paid advertising from the manufacturers. they wont say they hate any because then their magazines wouldnt get press bikes. and that means no more cushy hotels free bikes, and customers
Superduke all day long for me.
Great review as always, thanks for this!
But a couple of suggestions: let's not talk about horsepower so much, it means something but at the same time not so much. There are times when a bike with half the horsepower can be twice the fun, depending on the type of riding. Instead of spec sheet information, what is really useful in a video would be things like:
- How easy / comfortable is it to lane-split each bike through say, an hour of LA traffic? At the end of doing that, which bike would you pick to go to work every day for the next year or two?
- Which one feels more relaxed (or frenzied) at everyday speeds?
- How accessible is each bike across a range of rider heights? (put the shortest tester on each bike, doing emergency stops on an off-ramp with a lot of road camber / road crown)
- Speak to maintenance. Which one needs valve checks often, which has the best dealer network, which is most DIY-friendly etc.
- Which one feels more *fun* in daily riding? (not necessarily the same as which one is fastest)
But again, thanks for this great content, I really am nitpicking on free content, that's not the intention, just a few suggestions that's all.
Natarajan Shanker honestly your opinion is exactly what I was watching the video for... I too wish it was more broken down this way as well as I’m looking to purchase one of these options within a few months.
I have 3 of the 4 bikes in my garage, you really can't go wrong with any of these bikes but I would also choose the Aprilia, I love my 2017 factory.
Hi bro may be u can answer me .
with all the full Akrapovic shits Akra Map included without the catalyst and canister and sas sytem removed you can have about 174 HP at rear wheel for the Superduke 2.0
Do you know about the others bike if u do approximately the same in HP ?
That is a tad high, 165ish ish with the full exhaust and akra flash, to get over the 170 mark you are going to need the airbox and a custom tune.
Pomplardpanam decat y pipe , race filter and NelsTune gets 178.5 crank hp for the FZ10 yes crank not whp. 167ish at the wheels. Their FZ10 was a dud, mine dynod 148.5 hp stock. Far from 135.
@@pomplardpanam8591 164 RWP on the dyno on my MT-10 w/ the exact same mods for my '19.

All you need is RJ km\h ))
If you said Husqvarna Nuda I would agree, becaus that's his favorite bike ever
A most intelligent unbiased review review. So nice to see the sense of track testing rather than some on here who boast of shredding driving licenses. Not a good idea sitting on a bike with the centre stand taking your weight..
I am a bit biased since I got the 2017 superduke. But I threw full akra evo 2 on it and a map. A whole lot of powerparts and I just love it! I think it looks so much better then the rest.
Thanks you've helped me make up my mind. Being 1.96 meters I've bought the KTM
Koos
Netherlands
What did you move to?
Rashid Burney mt09 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@kit0415 He bought an MT-9
@@vonhonderwitz why the hell would you downgrade from a tuono to a mt09...
Which bike is more planted on bad roads?
I'm a beginner rider - 15,000 miles on a FZ07. 80% City - high traffic 19% Roads 1%Track
++++I would say any of these bikes are for city/ high traffic/ filtering riding, they'll get too hot.+++++ this is my opinion.
You guys make me glad that I went for Tuono.
Great video. Thank you and
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! :-)
Been riding Aprilia for 9 years now. Still the best bike for the money, new or old. The Gen 1 and 2 are the best kept secret in motorcycling, whether we are talking Tuono or RSV.
Comprehensive and practical. Good for older blokes , not purely about the top end speed
Because of you i have the 08' CBR 600 RR!
Thanks, this gave me the answer I was lacking. Ill go for the MT10, gsxs1000 or the S1000R . Most likely the BMW..
@@Parakitedude bmw engine can eat themself easy, cams n shit, mt10 is much fun wheele n stuff and reliability
S1000r electronic suspension and agility really are a class above the others in terms of providing real world comfort and pace enhancing feature. Ive ridden them all and have a 2016 s1000r WITHOUt the wheels and even there the agility advantage is noticeable --easily!
Hey guys, thanks for this nice video, because now I know what will be my next bike: BMW S1000 R!
Love my FZ10..it's a Yamaha, bullet prove. My 3rd FZ, all the Gen's. the latest one is sick!!!
Great review guys. I owned the Aprilia V4R Tuono 1000, now have the the 2014 BMW S1000R. You give objective tests on all the bikes. Nice work! :)
Which do you prefer?
Just bought the 2018 MT-10 left over for $10,799... and I love this thing. It may be down a few hp to the others in this list, but riding it in the real world you'll never feel that... it's A BEAST!! Love the Tuono, but Yamaha for longevity and price... hard to beat.
Wind protection and wind protection.. They are naked bikes!
yeah i stopped listening to him when he said wind protection
Exactly. When will these reviewers learn?
Nah you won't appreciate the wind protection until you take on long freeway ride
The Touno and the Super Duke is the most interesting for me.
I Love my Tuono Factory. Its very fast on Track.
AchimDuke but how often is it in the shop? Do u have a dealer near you? I love the Factory but no Aprilia dealers and hear a lot of bad about reliability. Also double the cost of the fz10.
You guys just supported my love of my 03 Z1000
Been waiting for this one! Haven’t watched the video (yet) but about 99% sure my next bike will be what Kevin Duke picks!
SunzOffski the Suzuki is $2,000 less bike in my opinion.
Blurry Face why do you never see the GSXS compared to the Tuono, Superduke, and S1000R then? MT-10 is on another level.
Joe Smith superduke even pulls the front wheel in 5th gear stock
I prefer Japanese bikes and their relatively low maintenance costs. I'm sure the Aprillia is going to cost far more in general maintenance and when something breaks.
Maybe, but it will all ways be ugly as fuck
Nobody is figuring the cost of electronics repairs are they? Ouch. Can’t fix it we don’t know what’s wrong. It’s gonna be this much $$$$ for such and so module. We hope that will fix it. LOL
I think the Aprilia Tuono more or less have won every shootout since the first V2 in 2006. They really take the experience from the racetrack to streetbikes, and they look quality when you see them upfront close.
2019 KTM super Duke gonna rock
The Aprilia is so good it beats the other bikes without being in the top Factory trim. What an awesome bike.
Franklin Schwartz doesent beat the Super Duke in either looks or preformance.
Looks are subjective but not in performance, the aprilia has more power and its faster, period. Faster in straights, corners, street and track. And Im not even talking about the factory, just the regular one. The factory its the Daddy in this class
it isnt. the duke has both more hp, more torque and more cc. And it has all the electronics you could want, cornering ABS etc...
just more torque not more horsepower, measure it at the wheel and the aprilia has 4-5 more hp, its just the fastest bike in class followed by the bmw.
Good review, great video guys. Thanks for the quality content!
I have a MT10 (FZ10) and it’s the best performance bike I’ve ever had.
Everyone loves that Tuono, and justifiably so 😍😍
Mr. Duke always have the fastest shades of the bunch!
Aprilia YES! I have a 2013 RSV4 Facotry SBK SE and a 2020 Tuono Factory. Amazing machine with the best sounding engine ever put in a streetbike. Smiles for miles.
Good video ! Thank you all! So nice !
Great video and review. Can’t go wrong with any of those bikes! Would like to have seen how the Monster 1200 stacked up against those bikes as well!
It couldn't touch them.
@Evo Shift I ended up with a 2016 BMW GSA 1200 W/C... I would be on a cop hit list with that MT-10!
MT-10/FZ-10....Bumble Bee on 2 wheels...
Love watching u gents evaluate various cycles
I really liked the fact that you guys included the Gas milage for all the bikes, you should do that all the time from now on for all your reviews!
Ahh ok didnt know that. My problem with remapping is that it technically makes the bike illegal on the road. Atleast here in germany
Nice review gents. Aprilia is a special bike. They are all fantastic bikes.
Excellent!!! This was super well done cheers to all you test riders and a tip of the hat to your camera crew and video editor! Merry Christmas!
At 15 grand the Tuono is a steal. The FZ-10 would be a real good second choice ... if it was about 500-1000 cheaper. Once you've added aftermarket goodies to the FZ-10 to get it to the level of the rest of them you are basically at 15 grand into the bike. Meanwhile with the Tuono, literally just get the bike, slap an Akrapovic system on it and call it a day.
a bike with plastic panels and a goofy look that will not age well is never a steal at $15k. nice bike yes but overpriced as hell
10hp? u know math? 25 hp at the wheels bro....
Dristo 800 only american version, european is like 150 i think.Might be wrong, maybe its 150 with an ecu flash
@@dristo8009 164 rear wheel on the dyno after 3/4 system and a flash...160 crank hp stock....do you know math?
07:51 SuperDuke shown but the awesome sound comes from the Aprilia. I simply love the Tuono.
Excellent review! The Tuono is an amazing bike!
Ktm for me all day :))
MT10 all day long for me, but they are ALL amazing.
Bars are pretty easy to swap if that was the only issue.
Benjamin Hatef Try out a Monster 1200. I'm 6' @ 250 and I can ride mine for most of the day. Although more than 2 hours highway riding is a little stressful on the legs.
Not their fault you're fat tho
Tuyen Hoang lol! Problem is after years of wrestling in college it's not fat weighing me down so much, if it was that'd be an easy fix :/. I wouldn't expect Aprilia to accommodate people like me though you are definitely right- Not the average Italian here.
Lol try out the super duke r bro
If the FZ-10 with those numbers belongs in here, so does the 2017 Monster 1200 :O Great comparison!
The Monster 1200 doesn't have the racetrack performance of the FZ-10, and can't touch the other bikes in this class. It's just a streetbike.
The Monster 1200R is more track focused than the Yam. And has a similar amount of power.
Yup Tuono for me boys ☝️Adam 🏴
im getting the tuano 1100 V4 factory end of april.Great reviews.
Wow, congratulations! Amazing bike!
Thanks guys great review I have been thinking about getting a aprilia tuono and I’m pretty sure I’m going to after this review
Wonderful review. I'd love to have ANY one of these bikes and I'd like be in heaven! If I could choose, I'd probably pick up the BMW.
It's Christmas eve and I'm on my amazing 2013 Tuono :D
Super Duke R💪
Saving up to trade in the monster 821 for the tuono 17!
Tuyen Hoang all the best man
Got it!
Tuono top of my wish list but reckon the s1000r is the one I'd want to live with. Especially with the forged wheels just to get that smaller bike agility.
great review guys, but for me its the bmw s1000r because I own one
merryChristmas
Decat and remap. My MT now runs 158.9hp only cost a few hundred for 23hp.
Just picked up a 17' FZ10 with 1200 miles for 9,250. Do not regret it
This is missing from "recent shootout" playlist. Btw it is interesting to see the bikes lined up like this on the track while you were talking. You get a great idea of the size of the bikes and ergos, check the height of the handle bars, cool.
Thanks for the review. Now i can stay awake at night dreaming i own one of these bikes
For the street Mt10 I love that cross plain sound !!! For the track Aprilia !
The only true supernaked is the Duke, the other ones are superbikes turned into a mix of an R bike and a supernaked.
I disagree for the Yamaha mt-10, it's the most supernaked and street bike that I can ever think of, but I have to agree for Aprilia and the BMW they are basically sportbikes
Could you elaborate on your comment please. Also what is an R bike?
How do you call a naked superbike ? A supernaked.
You just repeated something you heard on a launch review. Congrats!
@@dedelabinouze5110 Exactly.
I wish the new GSX-S1000 would've been included. A great bike for a good price. And with all the upgrades it became even better.
Rj is a london encouter... man he is so good wat a fantastic rider..i think super duke is the best bike in 2017...
My personal opinion abt the bikes is :
1. Aprillia tuono v4
2. BMW s1000r
3. Yamaha fz10/mt10
4.ktm super Duke r
You guys should do touring shootout like versys vs tracer07/09 vs triumph xcx/xrx vs nc750 vs bmw gs750/gs850. Cant wait for that video😁
Thanks great review.
Great job guys, Keep up the great work.
Silly how the FZ-10 is restricted in the states. I really like the Aprilla and SD but bought the yamaha for the price, great value.
MT-10 all day long
Nice to see my FZ10 up there with the big boys!
That Socal fire smoke makes this look like a video from the 90's.
All of them are appealing in some way
Awesome review, guys!
Mv agusta and superduke 1290r are the only best looking and stocksound bikes
I too would go with the super Duke if not for the price as it is the best super naked out there. Aprilia is not really a super naked its just a barely stripped down rsv4 !!!! Just put on a wind shield wisor n get goin in the beast!
adrian tompson nop prefer wet one buddy, it's the bike that good
id be embarrassed saying i got 200miles out of a 1000cc bike, hope you dont do that all the time.
adrian tompson riding this bike on a motorway doing around 80 it's what you are getting. It was one of the reasons I went with Suzuki instead of Yamaha. I don't know about you but I'm using my bike to go somewhere
Just bought the 2018 Superduke have 100 miles on it cant quit smiling ..
The best! Tuono!!!!
I now own that same color/year April is Tuono 1100rr and it is scary fast!!!
