- Invicta is usually known for their huge and tacky looking watches but they do have a couple of models that aren't bad at tall. This one is the Invicta 1953 Vintage Pro Diver and it has it's a 40mm Rolex Submariner homage from 1953. It features a batman bezel insert and it's a pretty decent watch for the money.

I love the Invicta 1953 a lot, and I have 2 of them in my rather large collection! It's simply an incredible watch! It's funny how some people, who have NEVER owned a Rolex or a Patek Philippe..., tend to bash the bracelet of this great watch. Personally, I owe 4 Rolex and 2 Patek Philippe watches. One of them (the Submariner 16610 from 2008) has no better band and clasp at all compared to the Invicta 1953, yet it's made of solid quality! Trust me, I have done my homework on this properly! Some people have no clue what they are talking about, and only base their opinions on perception, which can be far from the fact. Sure, the band is not the best one out there, yet it's of great quality and comfor, and does not look cheap. There are so many people with much more expensive watches (that owe also owe an Invicta 1953) that can attest to that. Other than that, I love your video! Thanks for sharing!
I have five different Invicta watches and have had zero problems with any of them. No other brand seems to be willing to sell interesting watches to regular people at reasonable prices.
Invicta really hit the ground running with their amazingly successful Pro Diver range. This vintage 1953 homage, is a real triumph. Let's hope they keep it up. I would love to see them release a nice homage of the Yacht Master.
Total agree with you. The 1953 kills it for the money.
This is a fantastic Invicta model but I have three pro Divers with the Sellita mvt also!
I own the black original version, it's exceptional. I like the bracelet too. The lume is the only flaw. Very high quality for the cash.

Lume is their downfall. I have a pro diver and love it. However, the lume sucks. I'm contemplating buying some lume and trying to fix it myself. We shall see if I ever get feeling brave. 😆
Agree. The Lum is its only weak point.
I had the original black also but somehow it’s come up missing, might have been left behind on our last vacation but I can’t imagine I did that?
I own 2 invicta pro divers and one of their speciality models. They are all beautiful conservative, well designed and have been trouble free. I wish they would focus on creating more pieces like this one and get rid of the ridiculous models they seem to focus one, because they do make nice watches at a great value, you just have to go through hundreds of wild crazy models to find the gems.
I still have this one and it's been great having it. They released an automatic chronograph a couple of months ago which looks like a good deal for 500eur.
There are many other understated,quality and well desighned Invicta lines besides the ones you mentioned! please look again Thanks!
It is not that difficult to find the good Invictas!
I own two of Invicta's pro divers and have been very pleased with them. I have the 1953 with red accent bezel on order. The 40mm size is a big selling point for me.

Some few people love to hate Invicta for a few reasons, dont want to discuss it here. I own three Invictas, the Pro Divers 8926OB and 9937OB (the latter has Sellita movement, solid end links, and a few other minor refinements on dial and bezel; its my daily watch and I’m very fine with it) and the 31290 which is the 1953 with a monochrome black bezel. I like all three watches very much. Especially the look. They have their downsizes (lume, clasp) but they offer a character of its own (which is normally denied by the haters), very solid and decent finishing and a special feel cause there is no „ceramic, double domed crystal with ar coating, thick tricky clasp, screwed links“, you name it. For me at least it gives the vibe of an older very classy and at the same time minimalistic Submariner (remember the Rolex bracelet of the 90’s and 2000s!). There are more very good watches in their portfolio but I cant wear 45 mm and beyond which is what this brand is „famous“ for. And lets simply ignore their cartoon watches for the moment: different strokes for different folks. No deal breaker at all. Final word: good, fair review!

I own this in the black/black dial bezel, black pro diver sw200, and a gold colored pro diver rhar I put a maratac black nylon nato strap on. I love all three!!! I have beat the hell out of my Invicta’s and they still keep incredible time.
You got the best one. I believe the sw200 models are not easy to find anymore.
I own a grand diver with green 💚 bezel owned it for 6 years now nh35 is an amazing movement still keeping good time 😊

I just got a mint used Hulk bezel for $60. It's my first Invicta and I'm digging it so far.

I’ve owned a few invictas including the big Grady ones some might say but I have never gotten a watch that wasn’t high build quality and therefore never had any qc issues . One thing for sure they always get lots of attention while on my wrist!
I agree that some might be a lot of fun to wear. I had a grand diver with popeye on the dial.
I own several Invicta watches. My first was a honking big (relatively) quartz Pro Diver and that isn't my favorite anymore. I have a big Force Chronograph that I've used as a travel watch. And I have two automatic invicta watches. One 8926OB Pro Diver which has become my favorite watch, and a 2257, which is more dressy.
I'm looking at this particular model you're reviewing as a gift for my cousin who'll be my best man at my wedding and for myself as well.

I had some understated Invicta quartz a while ago, some “bigger “ guys for Invicta, all quartz, for some reason even with regular battery replacement they all died, boards died. Never put them in water.
I like this and I missed the $35 diver on Prime Day but still not sure if their QC even when using NH35’s

An excellent review - 👏 👌 Very informative, balanced, interesting and fair. I have a couple of Rolexes (Rolei?!) and 4 or 5 Invicta PDs, including the Pepsi option of this 1953. I'll be absolutely honest - I think ALL of them are superb. Of course I'm not going to compare an expensive Rolex to what is in effect a low end watch, but the Invictas represent fantastic value for money, for which it's very hard to find fault and, as you rightly infer, quibble about QC issues or detail. Personally, I like the Invicta logo engraved down the side, it's nicely done, unobtrusive when worn left handed, and screams "I'm an Invicta, not a fake Rolex!" In terms of timekeeping, they ALL look superb and function very well indeed. And when the Invictas come to the 'end of their hairsprings', then it's sad, but not the end of the world, just recycle / buy a new one. On the other hand, the Rolei get serviced.....for the price of eight new Invictas. But then, a Rolex (overpriced as they are) appreciates nicely, especially if looked after, wheras Invictas ..... look great and tell the time! So like you and your Black Bay, they all get worn on a regular basis. What more can one ask?

Hi Federico, exactly. Invictas are great value for money and with the seiko movements they simply perform well. They can be often bought with a decent discount and the overall quality for the money is simply great. Especially this model which in Europe is often on sale for 99 euro. Not many brands can beat that.

I own 2. The Pro Diver and the 1953 coke. The 53 is the best watch they make IMO. Great size, value and decent built QC for the $$ . Home run with the 53. Pro Diver is ok but hate that its mostly polished through out.
I own many Invictas. It's a good brand... if you stay away from the 52mm+ monsters.
I'm happy with mine. Just curious which other model/s do you think is worth getting?

I have the 8929ob, i enjoy it but don't like the huge side inscription, but can definitely live with it for $65
Other than the one wearing the watch, an inscription is seen by few, if any.
I have the 9937OB Pro-Diver with Sellita SW200 Movement.. The Case is thinner (depth) than the 'cheaper' diver.. Has Flame-Fusion Crystal (a thin layer of sapphire fused onto mineral..I think lol).. A MUCH better bracelet (with a Milled clasp solid end links and is thicker/heavier too).. The Dial & Hands are the usual black invicta.. And I swapped bezel insert for a ceramic Batman but a bit darker blue than Yours
I honestly LOVE this watch..Its REALLY accurate too..not too many seconds per week (had it serviced & regulated) ..as with the Branding..on the case..it reminds me of a Blancpain..I really don't mind it..love the second hand and dial too.. My only gripe is the Lume..not the greatest..but I rarely use it anyway!..I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS WATCH..It can hold its own with "proper swiss" expensive watches at a fraction of the cost.. I paid £7500 for My Rolex..and wear this More!
Oh nice! I wasn't aware that Invicta makes it with a sellita movement. Just had a look at it. It looks really nice! Yeah sometimes the cheaper watches are the ones we find more fun to wear. Thank you for your comment!

I bought one by the beginning of 2024 -black bezel-, replaced the bracelet by a black leather strap -no metal or rubber for me-, but I keep wondering why, given that version was so popular, Invicta hasn’t done anything like it afterwards.
Yeah, it's disappointing. They introduced a couple of new colours a long time ago and that was all 🤷🏼
You should also try their 35113 vintage chronograph re-issue! 👌🏻

Have the red/black as well. The stamped clasp, hollow end links and mineral crystal are not what I normally buy, but finish and design are excellent. I'm sure it's a lot better than the original Rolex regardless.

Hi! Yes, it's a normal screw down crown. You simply need to unscrew it and then pull it out twice as there is a ghost date position.
Really nice, was just looking at Invicta today also. It's a shame you can't buy them in Australia.

Scott, it’s a good idea to keep checking with Invicta Europe because some months ago I would check the website regularly and unexpectedly one day I found that the 31290 was available, so I immediately ordered one and within a week it arrived but was again sold out at Invicta Europe. I never wore it on the bracelet, I put a Vintage Bond Nato strap and it looks the business.

Good call on the similarities between the Tudor and this piece. Obviously leagues apart but at a glance..... I've owned a couple of Invicta watches the last of which leaked like the Titanic. Superficially a very nice piece but definitely ' Diver style 'and not a Diver. Strange that it resembles a watch that's related to the watch it's actually homaging.🤔 Cheers Ivan.

Saw a vid of a Invicta pro diver on vacation for two weeks in the water every day with no problems, maybe you got a bas Assembly with one of your seal's?

@@davemck1887 if it's rated for 200 meters and does not hold up to a swimming pool I would get ahold of Invicta for a quality claim.
Some of what you said is absurd, stating that some people wouldn't go near an Invicta because 99% of their watches are tacky. Well to THOSE folks, don't "get near" what you classify as "tacky"! But for the watches that *DO* present better (to that same group), then get "near" those watches! smh That's like throwing the baby out with the bath water, smh. "Tacky" is relative a/ways. Obviously the "tacky" watches sell and are worn, because Invicta keeps crankin' them out! Hey, to each their own, right? ;)

That's because Rolex didn't add a ceramic bezel to the submariner until much, much later in 2008 They are being period correct since it's based off the 1953 submariner.

I would say 40 percent of their watches are ugly,not 98 percent! It amuses me how all of you have to find something you hate about the 1953 just to retain your street cred or something silly like that!
