Thank you very much! Those engravings are made to prevent stealing during the time in the army. His father hate those engravings, no worries to remove that.
The craftsmanship of both the original watch and the expert skills of its restorer are the ultimate antithesis of everything our cheap, discardable consumer products culture hurls at us every day. The precision and finish present here created a stunning wearable masterpiece. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful work with us.
@Vintwatches I did have questions about removing his father's name though. If it were my dad's watch, I think I would have liked to try to find some way to keep that engraving.
Your ability in this craft is the perfect blend of technical and artistic skill. Without the right tools and tech know-how, it would have been nearly impossible; without your craftsmanship and artistic skill all the tools in the world would have been useless. The technical difficulties of the restoration really help to understand why an Omega watch and specially the Speedsmaster is worth what it's worth. That said, if it had been my father's watch I would have cleaned it a bit, maybe replaced the bracelet which is always the weakest spot, and left it as it was.
At the start of the video, I thought it will need a replacement case. The result of the repaired case is phenomenal. Greatest workman ship I've ever seen.
Excellent restoring! My wife had an uncle who worked on watches. I could enjoy seeing his transformations. Its always nice to see someone that knows what they are doing. Merry Christmas to you sir!
@Vintwatches sure, and I get removing the one on the case itself, but keeping the one on the back would've been an easy way to preserve history. Ultimately it's the client's choice on the work, I just feel like it's unfortunate.
Remarkable work! I am a little surprised that the client wanted the engraving removed. As unsightly as it was, it’s still part of the history of the watch. Especially if his father did the poor job of engraving.
You’ve mastered the art of perfection few will ever reach! Unbelievable anyone would ever let such a beautiful watch reach the condition you receive it in. Stunning work!
Breathtaking results from dedicated skill level not ever seen outside of the the business,Makes me proud to know something flawless can still be made with human hands, thank you
I wondered how you were going to repair that unsightly engraving- I’d never seen that welding done before. The grinding looked really aggressive but produced excellent results. The brushed and polished surfaces are all beautiful. I like the way those pusher tubes screw in. The case construction on this model is more complicated than I realised. I bet the customer was delighted to get his Speedmaster back like this. AND he can watch it all on here
Another skilled watch-artist, nekkidwatchmaker, had produced a movie in which a fine laser is used to fill in various deep dings in a similarly large case.
In most wath restoration vlogs i am so enamored on how you replenish a beat up watch. I believe that segment is more difficult than what is inside the watch
Nice story and restoration. As a vintage Rolex - Tudor collector I must say the overly complicated construction of this Omega Speedmaster perplexes me when compared to the Rolex Daytona or Tudor Chronograph. The double cage case construction yet no screw down crown or pushes for water resistance.
@@Vintwatches I'm currently on the hunt for a vintage Rolex 5513 1962 - 1963 pointed crown guard and the amount of frankin Vietnam case built watches are shocking. It's a mine field with vintage Rolex to avoid being screwed as the $500 Vietnam cases are scary close and I have some background in authenticating them. Deceivers take this case and combine it with a 1520 movement out of a Air King 5500 and then bake the fake dial in an oven to faux age it. The scary thing is they go for around 10k so the potential to get screwed is high with vintage. I had one seller today who was hones about it and still wanted $6k saying even with parts it's still less expensive than an original. I think I'm just about ready to give up on owning a pointed crown guard sub or settle on the possibility of likely getting screwed.
Spectacular restoration......unfortunately I am not an Omega watch owner but such craftsmanship is priceless as is the watch. Congratulations and happy holidays.

That Speedmaster didn't look that good leaving the factory even. Great job mate. You surpassed the original finishing.

About fifty years ago I damaged the case in my Rolex so I sold it to a dealer, obviously a big mistake. Excellent work and thank you for posting.
