Story behind the Watch:
The father of my customer was hiding this Omega Speedmaster for decades and always had the plan and dream to restore it. In those days it was not so easy to find a watch specialist for Omega watches in Romania. Unfortunatly he couldn´t find a person who was able to do the works needed on the watch and sadly he passed away. A few years later, my customer starts renovating the passed father´s house and during this renovation he found this hiding watch. He instantly remembered, that his father would liked to restore it and got in contact with me. We discussed, what works we should do on that watch and our plan was, to bring it back to a nice and daily usable condition. I did my best to get the movement to a healthy state, bring the watch back to waterresitant and the case close NOS specifications. At the end we decided to swap the old bracelet to a new one, that the watch could be wear without the risk of falling apart.
Special thanks to my customer from Romania, Vlad, I really hope you like the result!

The welding, grinding, polishing and general workmanship is a level I've never seen before. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. So rare to see these refined skills now.
Wow, thank you very much! Happy Holidays to you!
Was really necessary breaking the glass?
@@Frank-elettronica the Glas worth nothing, it was broken and scratched, the black inner bezel is the part to be very carefully with, this is the rare part 😉
Бесполезная работа. Часы вещь статусная. И если хозяин довел часы до такого то ему любое ущербное говно с барахолки подойдет, а если на продажу или в коллекцию, то владеть этим после какого-то поца, увольте...

Great job mate!
As someone who works in fine engineering, i am absolutely blown away with your craftsmanship. This went from engineering to artistic, a real masterclass in precision.
Thanks a lot 🙏
Mate the attention to detail in the grains! I’ve never seen such an immaculate restoration!
Thank you very much!
Would not have guessed that was a possibility with that watch. Amazing transformation. It's neat to see how the original owner must have viewed it when he fell in love with it in the first place.
Thank you very much!
I am not a big follower of this kind of job, but what you did with the welding and polishing is so impresive that is hard to believe was repaired. Congratulations for your dedicated work and God bless your skills and art.
Wow, Thank you very much!
Sir your great mechanical work Man
Thank you 🙏
I have been able to witness the restoration of watches like PP, AP, VC, JLC, IWC, GP, Rolex and other high end brands by watchmakers, but this one was made by an ARTIST!! The Expertise on all the restoration facets and steps were simply unique!!! This Gentleman really knows how to use and apply the proper techniques. Long Life and blessing to you!!!!
Wow, thanks a lot!
I’ve only had my Speedmaster a mere 22 years, great insight to what goes into a service. It really is a watch for life.
Best restoration of a watch I've ever seen however I would have thought the customer would want the engravings to remain on the watch.
Thank you very much! Those engravings are made to prevent stealing during the time in the army. His father hate those engravings, no worries to remove that.
@@Vintwatchesfirst time watching your channel and as a former metal finisher, very impressed w/your work in that regard.
On the engravings, I’m assuming his last name was “Gerace”. My family is from a very tiny village in Calabria, Italy by that name so I was curious.
The work of an artist... and a surgeon too.
Thanks a lot!
The restaurator is a master of art...❤...Where can we find Vlad!?
I happen to know the guy that owned that watch and to say he would be a bit upset his name was removed would be an understatement but after seeing the finished product I’m sure his son who I also know should be more than pleased thanks for posting remarkable work ..salute ! Bert
Thanks a lot!
What great work. My grandfather was a repairer of watches and jeweller and I have vague memories of seeing him repair watches. This video brought back memories of his workshop. There’s something quite satisfying about about watching this video. Thanks
Thank you very much!
Wow, what a result, would never have thought it possible before watching you work your magic. Very well done, Sir.
Thank you very much!
It is one of the best watch restorations I have seen on TH-cam, it is a joy to watch a true craftsman at work.
Wow, thanks a lot! Happy holidays to you!
The craftsmanship of both the original watch and the expert skills of its restorer are the ultimate antithesis of everything our cheap, discardable consumer products culture hurls at us every day. The precision and finish present here created a stunning wearable masterpiece. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful work with us.
Wow, thank you very much! Happy holidays to you!
That is truly next level craftsmanship. Incredible restoration. Attention to detail is simply impeccable. 👍
Thank you very much! 🙏
You’ve mastered the art of perfection few will ever reach! Unbelievable anyone would ever let such a beautiful watch reach the condition you receive it in. Stunning work!
Thank you so much 😀
i've seen hundreds of restorations, this one was one of the most impressive ones, you are a true pro. left that amazing watch looking like out of the box.
Thank you very much!
He has surgeons touch. Unbelievable craftsmanship.
Thank you very much!
Et voilà... comment deux mots peuvent-ils résumer autant de maîtrise ? Merci, c'est magnifique.
Merci 🙏

Outstanding!! There some quite skilled watch repair persons WHO like to leave "character" to their work. I think your work really respects watches original character. The best I have seen.
Wow, thank you very much!
Excellent restoring! My wife had an uncle who worked on watches. I could enjoy seeing his transformations. Its always nice to see someone that knows what they are doing. Merry Christmas to you sir!
Thank you very much! Same to you, have happy holidays!
Amazing work. I bought a Collection of Omega Marks from Ebay and Got them restored from Omega directly. Your work is Even better!

Totally gobsmacked, looks like it’s fresh out of an Omega showroom, stunning workmanship!

Daha önce, bu kadar güzel bir saat ve bu kadar güzel işçilik görmedim ... ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Thank you 🙏
When I saw the engraving I thought, "no way!" But you made it happen, and it was inspiring to watch. Well done!
Thank you very much!
@Vintwatches I did have questions about removing his father's name though. If it were my dad's watch, I think I would have liked to try to find some way to keep that engraving.
@@NotchFox Those engravings are made to prevent stealing during the time in the army. His father hate those engravings, no worries to remove that.
I'm speechless... A truly master. Thanks for share your work.
Thanks a lot!
Imagine showing this to your son and saying, this was your grandfather's watch, he wore it in the army and it used to have his name on it but now it doesn't because i had it meticulously restored. The engravings, nicks, and scratches really told a story. Now this just looks like a mint condition speedmaster.
If it had been my father's watch I would have cleaned up the watch, gotten the mechanicals in order, replaced the seals etc... but kept the all the wear and tear that makes the watch a one of a kind, even if dad wish was to have it restored. beautiful workmanship though.
Thank you for your comment! To each their own.
At the start of the video, I thought it will need a replacement case. The result of the repaired case is phenomenal. Greatest workman ship I've ever seen.
Wow, thank you very much!
where could you buy a 50yo replacement case ??
You sir, are an incredible master at your craft. I've watched a lot of videos and never seen anybody do what you've done. You are a true expert
Wow, thank you!
Incredible restoration results by a talented craftsman.
Thank you very much! 🙏
Wow! Just wow! Incredible restoration. As I had my 1969 MkII restored by Omega a few years ago and your workmanship exceeds theirs! Your case finishing it impeccable! I must get in touch with you to handle my vintage Heuers!
Wow, thanks a lot! Your are welcome to send me your request!
Remarkable transformation and restoration of this beautiful timepiece.
Thanks a lot!
The most professional restoration I seen online so far
Wow, thank you 🙏
Spectacular work, attention to detail is magnificent. I'm torn though, if that has been through war or other, a lot of the character is now gone.
Thanks 🙏
Yeah, really wished they had kept the engraving on the back.
@@Hawk7886 Those engravings are made to prevent stealing during the time in the army. His father hate those engravings, no worries to remove that.
@Vintwatches sure, and I get removing the one on the case itself, but keeping the one on the back would've been an easy way to preserve history. Ultimately it's the client's choice on the work, I just feel like it's unfortunate.
Your work is absolutely amazing! And the case work done by hand, wow!!!!
Thank you very much!
You are like the "My Mechanic" of watches, attention to detail is incredible.
Wow, thank you 🙏 My Mechanics is a legend!
I've watched lots of resto vids. This is genuinely insane and makes me wish I could send my pogue your way! amazing work.
Wow, thank you! 🙏
That Speedmaster didn't look that good leaving the factory even. Great job mate. You surpassed the original finishing.
Thank you very much!
I was cringing when I heard the grinding but I have to say you did an incredible job restoring that piece.
Thank you! True, that noise doesn’t sound well 😬
In most wath restoration vlogs i am so enamored on how you replenish a beat up watch. I believe that segment is more difficult than what is inside the watch
Thank you! I’m not sure if more difficult, but it is indeed difficult.
I'll never look at some other watch servicing/restoration channels the same...this guy showed what it's like to play in the premier leagues.
Wow, thank you 🙏
He definitely hit a touchdown with his football bat
now that's the best repair job i have ever seen. Well done that man.
Wow, thanks a lot!
The best work I ever saw on an Omega vintage , we call it - Deutsche Wertarbeit - .. welldone master !!!
Wow, thank you, the Wertarbeit is still out there 😊
I wondered how you were going to repair that unsightly engraving- I’d never seen that welding done before. The grinding looked really aggressive but produced excellent results. The brushed and polished surfaces are all beautiful. I like the way those pusher tubes screw in. The case construction on this model is more complicated than I realised. I bet the customer was delighted to get his Speedmaster back like this. AND he can watch it all on here
Thank you very much! He’s very happy with the result! I wish you happy holidays!
Another skilled watch-artist, nekkidwatchmaker, had produced a movie in which a fine laser is used to fill in various deep dings in a similarly large case.
I would wear it as new.....beautiful restoration!......
Thank you 🙏
This is so much more than restoration. Workmanship beyond excellent… it’s art that I didn’t realise still existed. Superb, just superb.
Thank you so much 😀
I am stunned at the results. Wow! I have always wanted an Omega. Makes me want to buy an example that’s needs restoration and send it to you!
Thank you 🙏 You can do it!
This process is amazing. I don't want to be rude, but "for me" you remove all memories. Cleaning, changed seals will be perfect. I think every scratch has a memory.
Thanks, for me it’s very ok to see it differently! Happy holidays to you!
Who would want to be seen wearing that in its previous state, give over! 😤
Remarkable work! I am a little surprised that the client wanted the engraving removed. As unsightly as it was, it’s still part of the history of the watch. Especially if his father did the poor job of engraving.
Thank you 🙏 Those engravings are made during the time in the army to prevent stealing. The father hate his engravings, no worries to remove that.
Maybe I would have had that amazing restoration but somehow kept that engraving, great little story.
@@stevenharper6888 yes, I personally would have left the engraving on the back.
Very therapeutic to watch, and a marvelous result as always. Thank you for sharing your skills and processes.
Thank you very much!
I’ve never noticed or appreciated the art grinding and polishing till today. Well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
Impressive, just impressive, not many people can carry out this sort of work to this sort of standard any more, from the before to the after, just stunning.
Wow, thanks a lot! 🤩🙏
Spectacular, Incredible attention to detail !! Proper old school Engineering with some bang up to date equipment and a bucket load of patience, I love it 👍☺️
Thank you very much! 🤩🙏
Beautifully restored
Thank you 🙏
I never thought any of those old speedmasters had anything but acrylic crystals. I am learning new things
Nice story and restoration. As a vintage Rolex - Tudor collector I must say the overly complicated construction of this Omega Speedmaster perplexes me when compared to the Rolex Daytona or Tudor Chronograph. The double cage case construction yet no screw down crown or pushes for water resistance.
Thank you! Kind of uncommon construction, a few omega models of this times had a similar construction, it works quite well.
@@Vintwatches I'm currently on the hunt for a vintage Rolex 5513 1962 - 1963 pointed crown guard and the amount of frankin Vietnam case built watches are shocking. It's a mine field with vintage Rolex to avoid being screwed as the $500 Vietnam cases are scary close and I have some background in authenticating them. Deceivers take this case and combine it with a 1520 movement out of a Air King 5500 and then bake the fake dial in an oven to faux age it. The scary thing is they go for around 10k so the potential to get screwed is high with vintage. I had one seller today who was hones about it and still wanted $6k saying even with parts it's still less expensive than an original. I think I'm just about ready to give up on owning a pointed crown guard sub or settle on the possibility of likely getting screwed.
It’s easy to find a hair in a soup but it ain’t to make a good soup. You nether the soup 🍜 Tudor 😂😂😂😂
A heavenly Watch restoration indeed!
Thanks 🙏
Amazing work, couldn't believe your welding efforts. Workmanship of a true master craftsmen ❤
Thank you very much!
This is incredible, you are a true master of your craft. Walk with pride, you achieved a level of skill most people can't comprehend.

Who in their right mind would engrave their precious watch in such a manner.Excellent work restoring it.
Thank you 🙏
Some bold person who don’t give a F😜
I think it’s cool.
Astonishing transformation!
And what a handsome piece!
The original owner would no doubt have been thrilled to see his beloved watch born again.
Thank you very much!
I never knew it was possible to weld like this, the 100% restoration is now possible! AMAZING!
Thank you very much!
Thouroughly enjoyed this restoration, the welding and grinding & polishing has effectively renewed the case - it's a masterclass! Thanks for sharing
Thank you very much!
Very impressive, like a surgeon! 2 questions: 1- how much time from start to finish; 2- concerning the welding, did I see correctly in that you used a thin wire to add metal in some instances and for other parts, you simply heated the metal, like for the engraving? Thank you, if you have time to answer.
Thank you 🙏 Correct, the engravings has been hammered in, I used the original metal to fill it, there was no need to add wire. The hole process took a couple of days. Happy holidays to you!
2:47 imagine sneezing while holding this and it went flying😂
😂
any idea who Gerage was and why he engraved his watch?
To keep the crackheads from stealing it 😂
InCREDIBLE!!! Thank you SO MUCH for the IN DEPTH final look! I was smiling the entire time!😃
You are so welcome!
This level of refurbish is art ❤
Thank you 🙏
I think a laser engraving of his dad’s name in the same places would have been a nice touch and nod to his father. But I understand if the customer didn’t want that.
Could be a cool option, but they wanted it clean!
@Vintwatches that's ashame obviously he just wanted a perfect watch not sentimental
@@waterhead1359
Could be that the owner wants to sell it.

Wow, thanks a lot!
Stunning eye for detail, excellent work ,most people would have condemned the case and put a new one on it .I took my omega seamaster to a big watch retailer for repair it took them 4 attempts to get it right and ended up recasing it because the damaged it more than I had.Great work wish it had been sent to you at the time

Wow... Really enjoyed this video. From Cape Town South Africa.. I am impressed!!!!
Thanks a lot!
Never imagined to watch a whole video of a watch restoration as I have absolutely no interest in watches at all..... Says a lot. I admire your skills.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your ability in this craft is the perfect blend of technical and artistic skill. Without the right tools and tech know-how, it would have been nearly impossible; without your craftsmanship and artistic skill all the tools in the world would have been useless. The technical difficulties of the restoration really help to understand why an Omega watch and specially the Speedsmaster is worth what it's worth. That said, if it had been my father's watch I would have cleaned it a bit, maybe replaced the bracelet which is always the weakest spot, and left it as it was.
Thank you very much!
This is a true masterclass in restoration of a beautiful time piece, my respect, Sir!
Wow, thank you!
just oozes quality workmanship. a delightful video to watch
Many thanks!
One of the nicest restorations I’ve seen. Job well done. Very nice watch. Looks like it truly took a lot of work and dedication but it all paid off in the end. Hope the owner take pride in wearing it enjoying it just as much as his father did.
Thank you very much! Happy Holidays to you!
Passion and mastery is one hell of a combination. Wonderful restoration!
