This is best solution in the case a client lies and get you deactivated......Once Uber or Lyft find out the truth, been that you were not actived for a day or two. Uber or Lyft should caculated your lost in wages and take it from the lying client ( at least $100) plus the ride they originally took and paid you. That way it will teach them not bring false accusations toward the driver.....if you agree give me a thumb up..thanks!!!!

If two people come to you with opposing stories and there is no camera footage, no sound footage who do you believe? what is the truth!? Do you not understand where the actual issue lies? The rest is totally incidental.

My favorite scam that they love to pull is when they have a friend with them that needs to go a different destination and they “act” like they can’t find or update the destination on the app for the second stop and right when you offer to help update the destination they magically find it in 2 seconds.. this is where being a knowledgeable driver helps!

    • @mrvanhorn07

If the rider wants you to drop them off at a different location than specified in the app and they cannot change the final destination - which will happen with the Uber app when you are close to your final destination - let them out of the car, then proceed to the address in the app, anyway. The rider gets dropped off where they want to be dropped off and you get paid for completing the trip in accordance with the app.

I had one where they put in the name of a very popular location like a shopping mall, but they put in an address way closer on the same street. As a driver if you weren't paying attention to the GPS because it said Such And Such Mall and you knew where it was, you might miss it and they only get charged for the distance to the drop off. I had it happen and asked them to change the destination and it worked, so I know it wasn't some glitch or incorrect address in the GPS system. If I'm wrong, let me know why. Thanks

What makes me laugh is the people who, in a rural area with long pickup times, will wait about 2 minutes, then cancel and re-request to try to get rid of the Premium Pickup bonus, assuming they'll get the same driver with a shorter pickup time. Half the time they wait too long and get a cancel charge, and a good portion of the time I'll get another request before they can re-up their request, meaning that they then will get another driver with an even longer pickup time.

#7 has happened to my husband!! At that time he was only working for uber, when he started the app he got his first ride for the day and it was some elder man asking him first about why he is with uber etc. Eventually he convinced my husband to go with lyft too. So then he started riding for both. And also my husband had to endure the other scam many times about passengers saying they smelled alcohol in the car or that he was speeding etc. After 2 years of that his account recently got deactivated and we have no idea why but now its clear its because of the lying passengers!

when I use to drive, I had a passenger at MIDNIGHT use the lost and found feature on the app to call my phone claiming to be the hub. They wanted me to verify my ID and full credit card info. I was about to pick up another passenger and was waiting on them, passenger got in my car and the scammer who claimed to be working for the hub told me to have my passenger step out of the car for a second. I'm just like, I can't do that! Hung up on them and connected the hub the next day. They never call, everything they need from you they will contact you from the app. I knew exactly who it was too because they seem suspicious from the start asking me how much money I made that night.
Months later, I took a lyft myself. Shared my story with my driver and he said he had a similar experience and pretty much confirmed it was the same guy who scammed me with location and the mannerism of the passenger. There is a warning at the hub with that location last I heard.

In spite the fact that media are full of bad stories about drivers, the truth is there are much more horrible stories about riders which we drivers are afraid to report correctly as the client would know we report them, and could easily retaliate and purposely gave low rating in retaliation.

I just had a passenger claim that she/he smelled liquor and how I said inappropriate things as well as almost crashing the car. This was all LIES. I have over 1,200 rides in only 3 months of driving and amazing customer comments and 5 star rating. Lyft resolved the matter In two days in my favor and saw that they lied. My ratings and quantity of rides in a short period of time was the only thing that saved me from deactivation. That’s what I think. I will now be even MORE careful. It’s crazy how these passengers can destroy someone’s income for a few bucks! This all happened Labor Day weekend..this past weekend. Loss of a lot of money, but better than being deactivated for sure! Having a UNION for drivers would help in this situation. Never thought it would happen to me since I treat EVERYONE 100% with respect, even if they don’t deserve it. So BEWARE, IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!!! Always leave a note to lyft after a shady ride. I answered yes, I'll be there in 5 minutes. He said, I'm only going a short distance but I need to make 2 stops. You can charge Uber $100 and we'll split it 50/50. I told him that I had nothing to do with what Uber charges and he hung up. Before I could cancel the ride, he called right back offering to do the same deal but this time he raised the amount to $150 and we were to get $75 each. I told him that I don't do those kind of deals, I just drive, plus I only carry about $3 or $4 when I'm out here in case I want a drink or chips. He hung up again.

Always have a dash cam facing into the car so you can prove your own behavior and the behavior of your riders! Just having it there and noticeable by your riders will discourage them making false claims against you! It will also tend to discourage bad behavior on the part of your riders, if they think you might submit video of their bad behavior to Uber or Lyft. If your dash cam supports it, have it record your GPS information, including your speed. This allows you to prove that the video accurately represents the correct ride.

There’s this one scam going on where a customer will text you before reaching the pick up spot. They will say “Call me when you arrive”. So you give them a call and the person answers, “ This is Uber San Francisco. We have detected some fraudulent activity on your account so we need to verify your account.” The driver ends up giving their email and all and the scammer resets the password and has access to it. Then they will cash out your account. This usually happens on Sunday evenings since that’s the day every driver is loaded. I got these type of calls 3 times in the NYC area. Drivers be careful.

So I go over there. he gets in and I take him home while the app says I'm still waiting. I asked him to fix it and he says he can't. But I was still getting wait time. Then the app says drive around his housing complex and return to his address, 3TIMES!!. Finally it says $13.75. So instead of getting a ride for $3, the no-show rate, he paid 18 or more for a $5 ride.

I always stay in the app with navigation therefore if a ride is cancelled I don't know anywhere to go but to the curb so they can get out, period.
Last night there were two older ladies trying to scam me with an UberPool. The rider ordered 1 seat and showed up with a friend the we had a language barrier. Luckily my 1st pool rider explained with more detail in the riders native language. As I cancelled & drove away the 1st rider told me the 2nd rider commented that I should have let her friend come along because it was late and now something could happen to them.
Unfortunately that's not my problem you chose to attend an event til late in the evening & don't know how to use a rideshare platform or know how to use it but don't want to pay an extra $0.50, or whatever reason you have in your mind. If we are in an accident THE DRIVER IS FUCKED cause an unallowed passenger is in the car. If the system adds another rider who pays for two seats but they aren't available the driver is fucked.
Uber is getting better at listening to the drivers but you have to be proactive. If something feels off during a ride call them or submit a report through the app once the ride has ended.
I'm noticing more riders trying to scam using the Pool option during surge times and in the evenings so I have been alerting Uber immediately when the ride ends. The riders are acting as if they don't know what Pool means & surprised when new riders are added, they request that routes be altered or new riders be ignored, trying to bring addt riders, and complaining the driver didn't follow the route accordingly. I had a lady 2 weeks ago claim that someone else ordered the ride for her & when I didn't ignore the addt riders added through the platform she told Uber I put her in danger. Luckily I reported her 1st when the ride ended because her conversation was personally intrusive & she was trying to promote her husbands business and kept asking for my phone # to refer future Uber rides to. I didn't take her bait and knew that everything she said was a setup. Uber replied to me within 5 mins stating if I recognized this rider ever again when I arrive to the pickup not to accept the ride and leave. 1 rider with ulterior motives can get your account temporarily suspended while the rideshare company investigates the claims. Always have a backup if possible and remain proactive.

@@anthonywhite7873 The pros often outweigh the cons. It's usually not until something really outrageous happens that makes us give up on this.
I recently had an issue with a rider who said they left something in my car only to discover they wanted my personal # to ask me out & when I declined they started harassing me. What's even worse is that I told the company & they said I should have given the rider 3 stars or less so "the system" would know not to pair us. The problem with that is the rider started harassing me after my time expired to change the rating. Yesterday I was paired with the rider again and just let it fall off which affects my acceptance rate but oh well.
Most riders are amazing and the entire experience is great. I wouldn't not try it merely because of negative reports. When us drivers give this feedback it's to help each other stay on guard with possible unforeseen occurences. Uber is getting better at listening to us and Lyft has usually been very good about hearing both sides before taking action.

He was talking to someone on an earpeice in a forigen language the entire ride, never spoke to me at all not even to acknowelege i was the correct person and the destination was correct. As he get in to my neighboorhood he totally blows through a stop sign. Even a bit drunk i noticed it in fact i was pressing my imaginary brakes as we rolled through it. Not sure how easy this guy would be to communicate with I didnt say anyting and my house was in the next block. When I got in my house I rated him 3 stars and reported to Uber the exact intersection he blew the sign. I never knew if anything came of it with Uber so idk if he got deactivated or what, I did still pay for the ride. Was this a good way to handle that situation?

One I have seen is the friend, wife, or mom request the ride. So the person waiting is not on the profile. They will called and complain that the driver never pick them up so that get a full refund.

I have been an Uber and Lyft driver for 7 years and have all kinds of scams pulled on me but the one I hate the most is when they put something in your car and run back in the house so you're stuck with a long long long pick up

Watch out for people who have kids. Make sure they have a booster seat. It’s better to be safe than sorry. I have had a passenger that wanted to get in my vehicle with a small child without a booster seat. I had to tell her to get one or else I won’t transport them.

    • @Katya2U
      @Katya2U 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Yes, that's bullshit! I've just started driving for Uber (2 weeks anniversary today) and I already had 3 of those! Wish uber was asking questions before people order, you know? Like "how many people" " any children?" If so "do you have a seat booster/ car seat?" Sucks when you drive couple miles to pick up someone you have to cancel, cuz they don't meet the safety requirements. Wish uber was passing us a cancelation fee for that. Also... I'm tired of asking young people if they're 18 and wait for them to get a copy of their ID from a principal cuz they don't have theirs (not sure HOW they go to school without an ID), cuz their parent ordered a ride🫤

I wish there was a way of telling what that person might say. If a rider was trying to accuse me of drinking I'd like to have the chance to drive straight to the police and request a breathalyzer to cover my own butt.

I had a rider claim I was driving under the influence in a pool ride and uber deactivated me but let me finish driving the rest of the riders before kicking me off. I haven't had a drink or drug for 30 yrs. I asked them if I could go to a police station to prove it and they said no.

Thx Dylan. This made sense of a couple of the shorts you posted (context).
You seem like a really nice guy, so I hope you don't take this the wrong way. You need to tighten up the dialogue. Do you really think counterfeit money says, "fake" or "counterfeit" somewhere on the bill? Do a little research or just cut after you tell people not to accept cash. Also, in some states, you can record conversations; why can't you have a camera running to record passengers? Is it company policy? Can you tell them they are being recorded? Bet that would cut down on the number of scammers and con artists trying to take advantage.
    Good luck, brother ✌🏼

I am so glad you made mention of this. Because I had a ride that added to que. She had me pick her up at store but was across the street. Which made it look like that was the 2nd stop when I went over there. Then when they got into the car they were saying she need to go up the street to another store which made it look like that was the final stop. They had me wait (I still had them in my que) because it said I was 1min from their 2nd stop. But long story short they took me clean across town and the GPS was saying make uturn ,make uturn, make uturn. I felt something was wrong and they were saying ooh the GPS is making you go the long way. At that point I wanted to stay safe and get them out of the car.

I have been driving for Uber for five years. I have been in all 8 of those situations. I never fail for any of them. A couple more scams to add. Scam # 9, when a driver uses pool, but when they get in the car, they say they are running late, so you do not pick up any more passengers. In that situation, politely ask them if they would like to cancel and order UberX. That will shut them up. Scam # 10, when a rider orders express pool, but refuse to walk to their pickup point. The rider would either say I am actually at this address. Uber messed up. Or the rider would say I am here, where are you. Hoping the driver, would just pick them up, at another spot. In that situation, cancel right away. Do not waste your time. Scam # 11, the rider says they accidently put in the wrong destination. All of the sudden they have problems putting in the correct destination. In that case, end the trip. Drop them off. Then get in touch with Uber support.

I had a who mother used her daughter's name and picture on her profile so that the child could get rides. The daughter was basically the height of an adult so she kind of could have gotten away with this, we're it not for the fact that the destination was a high school. I reported her profile to Lyft.
It's not necessarily a scam but it's something that could/would get drivers in trouble since we're not allowed to transport unaccompanied minors.
