    Waze is great but always good to learn your city or town. Waze has let me down several times because they are late to update traffic. The best way to make more money with rideshare is to upgrade your vehicle, and most importantly, keep it clean!
    I upgraded my vehicle 6 months ago and have been making $2,000 more per month. Safe driving people, good luck

    Don’t listen to the critics here about the way you present the material, like too long whatever. Be the way you are now because you are an expert at being you and what draws me to your channel is your personality. If you try to be different you won’t do it as well and be second guessing yourself. You talk fast so you get a lot more information packed into the video even if you repeat some things and by repeating some things it helps you to pull all the information out of your brain that you want to get across. People will be patient to hear everything you have to say when they realize you have and are giving away very valuable info! However, I don’t need patient to listen to you, because you are a joy to listen to. Keep up the good work!
    I am interested in getting started as an Uber driver. I am retired and am up all night, so I would probably start there, which maybe slower in generating money, but that’s ok, as long as I am learning all the technology and how to use it, which will be great when I’m doing the rush hours. I am a driver. I’ve always been a driver and I might as well make money doing it. I know all the traffic laws, and how to bend them. I take advantage of every driver who fails to take the right away - if they going to give it away, I’ll take it!

    I love Waze! Especially as a Uber driver. I was notified of a major accident with standstill traffic. I was then able to pull up alternate routes, discuss with my riders and then continue on. They had a flight to catch and I certainly did not want them stuck in traffic! I received a 5 star review and a badge. 😎

    Why do these rideshare companies allow customers to force drivers to be "perfect" on every pickup for a lousy $10 or even less per hour. Do McDonald's customers get to rate their servers? Do taxi companies make customers rate their drivers? No, they don't cause I drove a cab for 5 years in LA county. Uber should completely scrap this stupid rating system. Either that or use a realistic system. In a standard bell curve setup, 3 would be average, 4 above average and 5 superior. In reality, a 5 star rating should be very rare. And why should a customer expect a free bottle of water for a $6 ride? That's positively insane. We're not driving limos, we driving normal everyday vehicles for very little money. And by the way, limos charge for their amenities. Uber may want their drivers to act like private chauffeurs to the rich, but in reality, they are nothing more than private taxis and expectations shouldn't be any different than taking a taxi, especially because it is cheaper. It's not reasonable to expect better treatment when you pay less. If I get the customer to his destination safely in a reasonable amount of time, that is ALL he/she should expect, and all the company should expect. You want more raise the freakin' prices!!

    • @kpag3030
      @kpag3030 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      yeah. the ratings system is broken. also, the fact that taxis in my city cost more than a clean, nice vehicle with water and candy and shit, and theoretically a "peer" driving me, is silly. Shouldn't a "Private" car cost a little more than a standard taxi?

    • @bobgoldinger5399
      @bobgoldinger5399 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The world is changing. McDonalds may ask for ratings in the future if competition takes their market share. Uber is doing over 6 billion in annual revenue, taking market share from traditional cab drivers by adding a social element and technology to the equation and people don't have to become cab drivers to enter the game. And from a passenger perspective, people wanted to be treated with dignity and respect and have some say in the situation.

    • @patricktorres1445
      @patricktorres1445 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      And that's why you're broke. I just started my first week of Lyft driving, and I make $28 hourly on a bad day (profits after buying can't and water that nobody takes). eliminate cheapness, laziness and your negative ass attitude and you'll make money at any job you take.

    using waze but there are couple issues with that app in Chicago. 1st
    most common issue ...it will take you to the alley behind the street you
    are suppose to pick up pax 50% of the time. With lots of one way
    streets in the city ...that's an issue. 2 ...it will drag you through
    every speed bump/stop sign infested little street because it calculated
    that it is maybe one minute faster than main road .....but it's not
    considering crawl pace you are moving from one speed bump to another
    ....not even sure if it is aware of stop signs ....3 issue, related to
    2nd. Data is delayed and it often sees heavy traffic where clearly there
    is non ....

    • @arasb3258
      @arasb3258 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drogos79 , THIS! Waze does NOT care about your brakes stopping for every stop sign at each little block, or the gas wasted getting back to speed. It saves you 30 seconds, by wasting all that gas, brake wear, and the annoyance of stop signs vs a slightly slower but smoother ride.

    I started driving Uber last week and watched this video last night. By the time the video was over, I was convinced and installed Waze last night. I used it for my first trip tonight and had to cancel the pick up because Waze was driving me in circles. I have never cancelled a pick up before and was disappointed to have to do it tonight. The second ride of the night Waze 'kinda' got me there, but thank God my passenger was going home and was able to navigate me there. It has been wrong on 3.5 out of 4 trips!! Uninstalling immediately!!

      Not to sound snide, but are you looking at the sidebar? I'm seeing about 10 other drivers with packed channels. Most of them lack some relevance, because they are (mostly) drivers from L.A., which obviously has its own challenges that are exclusive to L.A..

  • @panasonicht75
    @panasonicht75 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    To simple driver: Google maps also gives you the distance and eta towards your destination, plus it recalculates fastest route automatically and shows the driver. These have been in place before waze was even created. Granted, you don't have the social function but Google maps shows you traffic jams through the color of the route...dark red means heavy jam. Google maps also show you route preview and is available in all countries. Google maps also has home and work plus favourites icons. Even though waze has the social function, it's not practical for drivers to be texting while driving, plus most of the time, their phones are attached to the car mount so it's not going to be easy to text with two hands or take pictures. The best extra that waze has over goggle maps is that it shows traffic cameras which is essential for all drivers. Thanks for doing this video dude!

    This is definitely the best navigation system to use! All these social updates do help you advert traffic and keep your clients very, very happy. Always receive a high rating when this saves my client time!

  • @panasonicht75
    @panasonicht75 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Even though waze has the social function, it's not practical for drivers to be texting while driving, plus most of the time, their phones are attached to the car mount so it's not going to be easy to text with two hands or take pictures. While waze's social function is cool, I find the app less stable than Google maps. Sometimes the loading of the app can have glitches. Getting passengers to wait even half a minute is not going to get you five stars mates.

    • @TheSimpleDriver
      @TheSimpleDriver  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Once again. YOU CANNOT make an extra $600 a week using Google Maps. WAZE is just okay when it comes to navigation, but it's superior in the other things that make Uber drivers MONEY. You can use Google and I'll keep taking in Crazy money from WAZE. You now have a REAL choice.

    I'm confused why u don't use Google Maps. That basically has the same features as this Waze app. Favorites, route preview, etc. Or does iPhones not have Google maps?

    • @TheSimpleDriver
      @TheSimpleDriver  8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Google Maps does NOT have the REAL features from WAZE that make money. If you didn't get that from this video you just totally missed it. More money for those that get it everyday though.

    • @Apoc6
      @Apoc6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The Simple Driver You didn't mention the Gas Station feature that gives you different prices that also save you money when you need to fill up. Then you can save in your favorites and go there and check along the route to see if there are any lower gas prices.

    • @CharlesPhan

      Waze basically has a live feed with social interactions. I do like how the app does come with real live time with traffic movement. You can see a lot of spotting of police, accidents, police, traffic flow, the app apprehends the traffic ahead and can deter you to take the next shortest route.
      Google Maps is usually my go to with traveling in general but it does not have the great live features of Waze. I have tried to use the default Maps and that's just horrible. Waze brings you more a connection with a community who watches the road and reports and comments whatever is happening around the area you are in. It really is a life saver sometimes.

    • @DurhamBell

    The biggest feature I love about Waze is that when it directs you, it would take in the consideration the certain times on specific streets that you can't turn and so it would take you on the closest permitted turn to avoid getting a violation and it would save you time as well. I don't know if google maps could do that, can anybody confirm? Thanks

    Awesome vid man. Something to add - while the Waze app might be the best for predicting traffic patterns and saving you precious time, I don't like how it doesn't automatically show your saved favorites on the map. For example, if I just dropped someone off and am unfamiliar with the part of town I'm in (I drive in Philly), there's a good chance that one of my "favorites" could be just a few blocks away from me and I might not even know it. What I do is take all my favorites and save them in Waze AND google maps, because google maps is the only navigation app I know of that permanently displays your "saved" (favorited) locations as gold stars on the map - even when you're not navigating to them. So when I drop someone off I can just quickly open the google maps app and see the closest gold star (favorite) next to me, and then navigate to it in waze.

  • @ralphgibbons7248

    I understand WAZE is good, I just think it is to distracting while driving.How safe is it really trying to drive and seeing all the updates?

    • @Apoc6
      @Apoc6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ralph gibbons Using a Bluetooth audio earpiece will help with audio cues. Preview the route also whenever there is a brief stop in traffic or before the ride to anticipate how many turns you will make. Also practice navigating with audio only whenever you are done or not taking any trips at the time. I always turn the screen off audio only, whenever I do not have a passenger. That way as you navigate to hotspots you learn the routes without looking at the navigation. So whenever you do have a passenger, screen off the whole ride, only back on to end the ride, you are a 5 star driver. That will take a little time to develop, unless you are or used to be a cabbie.

    Great video! I downloaded Waze but couldn't figure out how to use it fully. I definitely have a better understanding now. When you take a passenger from the airport to their destination, do you stay online? Or wait until you get back to the airport before going online?

    • @TheSimpleDriver
      @TheSimpleDriver  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends, I call that dead heading back to the Airport if you go offline. It has advantages and disadvantages. If you want GUARANTEED airport money you will have to go offline otherwise you will get a call on your way back 8 out of 10 times.

    Sir, you are wasting your time with this, you have both the drive and the ability to be your own business owner.... may i suggest starting a local taxi company? you already know the area better than anyone, you can suggest places for a good time too. Or you could have an app, or maybe a website may be better. for your local area made that helps people decide where to go, based on your research, with ads being your revenue source, ( subtle header and footer ads, no popups)

      Uber Lady Baltimore Great for getting to Boost and areas where you anticipate good surge. Try Stubhub (an Uber partner, which gives free Uber rides to event goers) and Eventbrite, using Waze trip planning along with it to never miss a big event. Surges are almost guaranteed at the end of events advertised on StubHub, at least in my city. Usually always X rides. Within 20 miles going to and 10-20 miles coming back during a surge.
