You did my poor man king boom boo dirty, he's just a goofy ghost. As a child he really was my favourite bossgihht, he has so many expressive voicelines and the ambiance he just so funky, plus you get to see knuckles running extra fast, I dunno I really like it!
I agree. He may not be plot relevant, but he's fun and unique. He might exist only to give knuckles a boss fight besides rouge though. Tails already only has his rival fights.

That rocket in Metal Harbor is there since that's the first time in the series that you're supposed to use the lightspeed dash whilst running. The rest of the lines of rings in that level are in controlled environments to get the player used to the ability. The reason you pick up the power up so high up is so you have to lose all of your momentum in the level, so you can approach the first lightspeed dash as slow as possible. It's a design choice that allows for you to keep your momentum on repeat playthroughs too
Honestly I never forgot about King Boom Boo mostly because of the silly noises he makes and the music that plays with it. He's very memorable to me because of his sounds.
The russian youtuber named retro freak tried to do a ringless run on sa2 in 2020. He overcame the Crazy Gadget with glitch spin dashing into a wall in the Light Dash section and then getting to the Goal without the speedrun tricks,, So there are indeed multiple ways to go on that one, less technical and more of the 'feel' ones. Great job!! the King boom boo anxiety is real...
Just a tip for Biolizard: If you homing attack a specific part of its body really fast, you can climb up the body without having to worry about the dark orbs

Did later test on the Steam version. It still works, and can be done without Bounce Bracelet. Zero Rings/Zero Score City Escape is perfectly doable on more recent hardware.
I actually knew about the Rocket in Metal Harbor through playing Randomizer. It's so funny that it's there, but I'm not complaining about being able to beat the level without light speed shoes lol

This man is a genius. They should just take this whole videos idea and turn it into a official challenge called, "ringless run" and if you collect a ring then you will die immediately. But the City escape rings that where you have to go under the sign those rings are going to be gone and the pulley rings, that's going to be gone too. All impossible rings really.
This is why I love seeing stuff like this. It's amazing to see speedrunners and challenge runners do games in ways you wouldn't even imagine. If I ever make a game, I'd honestly be looking forward to what they do.

Gonna be honest, starting a stage with Rings you didn't actively collect shouldn't count, since it's not like you wanted to have them. I don't even understand why the game gives them to you (aside from Golem) because there's no immediate threat you'd need protection from anyway, weird choices the Devs made there
jayzes, not only did the dude beat RadicalHighway without Rings, not only did he beat it with an insanely-low score (how do you even Get just 1 point?), but he also did all that in less than two minutes?? thats around the same time i get on that level, when im Unrestricted...hopefully he waited a good coupla minutes before touching the Goal Ring though, or else that TimeBonus is gonna ruin such a perfectly low score :-P

Fantastic video! Loved every minute. But I completely disagree on all the stages where rings were collected, just say no they can not be completed ringless. Rings were collected during the stage, regardless if you had control or not.

You can definitely get more then one hit on King Boom Boo in a cycle, but getting all 4 the first one would be extremely difficult.
In all the years of having this game, I've only done it ONCE. Three hits in one go is super easy but that last one is something else!
