Deku is an incredible Speedrunner. Was super happy to see him come over to Sonic Adventure 2 a few years back now and he's been killing it ever since! Great run Deku, the community is proud.
It's not just about speed; it's about achieving excellence. Deku Senior demonstrates an unwavering determination to attain the coveted A-Rank in every level, showcasing an in-depth knowledge of mission objectives, enemy placements, and the game's intricate mechanics. Marvel at their ability to turn the chaos of battle into a carefully choreographed dance of destruction. What a wonderful run!
I like how the 8:11 invincibility shows that speedrun strats were integral to the game's design, even before speedrunning took off as a whole. _Sonic_ devs really knew what's up! Meanwhile, 21:00 is one of the most realistic conversations in all of fiction, what with Sonic just rudely interrupting because he's too impatient to let Shadow finish. Really making him eat those words, he won't even let Shadow spit 'em out! xD
I did it as an adult, myself x) You don't need to play THAT insanely well for the A-ranks, I certainly didn't know Invincibility gave you double the score, for example. I wish they'd make another game like this, the Boost formula never did much for me
Deku is an extremely gifted speedrunner. Deku and I have been speedrunning this game around the same time and have been trying to be competitive with each other. Seeing Deku run this game on the big stage is such a mesmerizing moment. Hope to see more GDQ runs from Deku in the future
The SA2 community always shows up in large numbers whenever the game gets accepted into a big marathon. This is a great run by Deku, and it was a pleasure to catch it in person.
My fave game Chao raising was mah fave, to make transparent, Chaos and jewel Chao. I even had the GBA version Sonic Advance to send the Chaos from there. Really liked the story, too bad we never got the secret eggs, only via cheat device.
It's always light OR dark. I can't help thinking how badly I want to see both, in parallel, and finished with tag teaming the final. The whole SA2 story in one shot. Would be awesome.
ive been playing SAB2 for years now, but ive always wondered why they do "pause hovering" when you could just bund the A key to another button like they do with the pause button and just tap them in sequential?
AGDQ 2024 is live right now! Tune in to watch at www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick

Really enjoyed the segment where the audience started to narrate the sonic vs shadow cutscene. Always a joy to watch.
Well it is probably the most famous Sonic game cutscene of all time.
even better to see the audience imitating the eggman celebration LMAO
I really hope at least “I found you, faker!” shows up in Sonic movie 3
20:45 for those curious
This replay is missing the chat log for this run, which was filled with the exact density of SnapCube references you'd expect.

For 21:00 the conversation in japanese is uninterrupted but the localization to english made the line a bit too long lol.
On PAL it's also uninterrupted I think.@@zeta0590
20:43 we all know why you're here, so I stamped it for you
Shout out to the crowd in the background doing Eggman’s victory dance after each of his stages

How the hell did we, as children, complete this game?!
I'm left at awed just watching the inner know how's and strats
I did it as an adult, myself x)

Props to that one guy who recited EVERY cutscene not just the sonic and shadow one 😂😂😂😂
10:55 Love how that Egg Beetle is just giving Rouge a death-stare from the background.

I also noticed that for the first time, had to double check in a let's play but yeah it's real
This run makes the game seem way more fun than I remember. Might load it up tonight.
This game was one of my beloved childhood games, and yet i didn't know that Big the Cat just chills there at 13:19

Brilliant run! Great job Deku! 😄 Used to play this on Gamecube... mostly for the Chao Garden of course 😂 xx
My fave game Chao raising was mah fave, to make transparent, Chaos and jewel Chao. I even had the GBA version Sonic Advance to send the Chaos from there. Really liked the story, too bad we never got the secret eggs, only via cheat device.
I LOVE how the crowd sang the cutscene

is the high pitched whine of eggmans cannon gun thing soothing to anyone else lol
Amazingly entertaining run! You rule Deku!
something about the audience talking with the cutscene had some real "die monster, you don't belong in this world" vibes to it
dang he was like a minute and some change from world record.
Sonic Adventure 2 Defined my gaming life on Dreamcast!).
ive been playing SAB2 for years now, but ive always wondered why they do "pause hovering" when you could just bund the A key to another button like they do with the pause button and just tap them in sequential?
Because creating bind sets that are not possible on original hardware is very likely frowned upon.
If they put the sonic shadow talk in sonic 3 the writer is a legend
Deku is so good
The faker scene It's already considered a classic in every speedrun XD
The faker cutscene 😂
Oh this just happened?!
Also, I thought this was going to be a full game any% run.
Deku is just so good, he is the goat 🐐
DEKUUUUUUU
My mom would beat my ass if I ever beat a new game she bought me this fast!
yo shoutout Sadistic Mystic what a deep cut for me way back in middle/high school
20:43
It’s like the audience fused with Sonic and Shadow!
