Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is a game I always come back to. It was a hodgepodge of interesting races that I played over and over again with my brothers. But the thing is, I was always bummed that certain characters could only play specific types of levels. But today, things are different. So… what would happen if Rouge the Bat tried to tackle the entire hero story by herself? Every Sonic level, Knuckles stage, and all the worlds Tails had to go through. Could she clear the stages? Could she beat all the bosses? Is it possible to beat the game as only Rouge? Let's find out!

You could kill the first robot with a spin attack. Spin the joystick in a circle then hit the attack button and rouge and kunckles do a spinning kick jump vertically which for some reason has a ridiculous hit radius. On meteor herd I always used it on the hard mission to get the emerald through the wall it's behind on the spire. I believe it's more effective though on battle as I remember the Dreamcast version being more difficult to get it to work. Though unfortunately it wouldn't work with the last 2 doors.
I feel like this is important to mention. The plane you talk about at 18:33 isn't one of the planes that's supposed to swoop by and drop bombs. The behavior seen here is actually 100% as intended. It's a rare enemy known as the Vulcan Fighter. It only appears in Radical Highway and Mission Street if certain pathways are taken.
You cab also get by the first gate of Prison lane by triggering Omochao and just running towards the gate. Omochao still deals damage when following you and the speed you have results in him rubber banding through certain barriers.

I've dabbled with it. Radical Highway was pretty annoying! The highway loop at the end of the level can't be ran through with Rouge/Knuckles, and it teleports you back to the start. I'm not sure why either.

I think the Knuckles boss fights tell a new story:
In the first encounter, Knuckles is simply lost, and turns to Rouge to help him get out of his situation. However, she beats him up because he is annoying her. Eventually, he manages to wander into a dense jungle, where he is still lost, and unfortunately encounters Rouge again. This time around, he is paralyzed with fear. Afterwards, he seeks revenge for his beatings, and follows Rouge into outer space. During their next encounter, Knuckles puts up a fight for the first time, and the next time he is even tougher than before and made sure to dispose of the rings that provided Rouge with stamina. In the final battle, Knuckles has been starting to slip into depression because of his repeated failures, hence his blue appearance, and in one final attempt to prove his worth to himself he challenges Rouge to a race. However, while he is easily capable of outrunning her, he keeps on waiting on her to catch up in attempts to beat her up back, and he ends up leaving himself vulnerable too often by jumping for no good reason. This results in his final loss.

I remember using Action Replay trying to play as mechless Eggman in some levels since his top speed is actually higher than Sonic's. Unfortunately the game crashes when you touch a vine in Green Forest. I see this mod fixes that issue.

I think all the non-mech characters have similar movement speeds, but Eggman has an advantage because he's taller.
Eggman was originally gonna be the protagonist but they decided his design worked better as the main villain.

I've heard people complain about the non-speed stages though. Personally, I actually liked Treasure Hunt the most in this game. So I'd like if they brought back different types of stages.

Jokes aside, Rouge is the only feasible choice. Of the six characters only the two treasure hunters have moves versatile enough to just barely get you through most levels, but Rouge in particular has something Knuckles doesn't, her own car that makes it possible to beat the road levels.
When I watched this I thought to myself:

18:40 I'm pretty sure the plane doesn't explode "randomly" here - Rouge/Knuckles' gliding is an attack (it damages enemies), and I'm fairly certain the planes are technically considered a normal enemy by the game (Tails can target and shoot them down iirc), so what happens when you glide into it is you just kill it
theres a plane that randomly(?) spawns in radical highway that has th same behavior as this one, machine guns and all, and u can kill it w jumps or homing attacks or wahtever
I feel like this video is all just one giant ruse, and just an excuse to show off the Rouge costume mod on other characters, lol
But really, this was interesting. I've always found game-breaking challenges like this fascinating, and your voice is very fitting for narrating it. Crazy Gadget looked like an absolute nightmare.

Well, apparently there's a randomizer for this game now that randomizes what character plays which level, it looks like it also makes it possible to beat them with each kind of character too.
Got to give swanky some props though, he beat the entire game with only 1 hand that takes dedication

The tools were available to play each level with any character back on the Gamecube with Action Replay. The Dreamcast probably had the same options, which meant you could play as Big the Cat in any level.
I address this in the video, but the GameCube version of doing this is heavily flawed. You can load in a character easily, but the spawn point for certain characters aren't set. This sometimes spawns the player beneath the death barrier, or in certain stages, just crashes the game regardless. Trying to take a step in city escape for example bricks the game because trying to load Rouge on a board in the Gamecube version instantly places Rouge on the ground. Taking a step places Rouge into a black void and the game basically overloads and glitches out. Levels like Prison Lane don't even load completely. The level starts without a character on screen and the entire screen is black. Some levels work well, but often times starting a stage isn't possible.

@@SwankyBox The gamecube version seems to have level boundaries in City escape and some other levels (mostly tails's interestingly enough) and the freezing is caused because Knuckles and Rouge start inside of them.
The only level with one that's playable is Mission street which also has an unusual spawn point for Knuckles and Rouge, out in the middle of nowhere, Sonic and Shadow actually spawn where Tails does.
Like how Knuckles gets harder and harder near the end xD

You can actually play as Rouge in Sonic and Shadow stages ( as well as Knuckles) without hacking using the chao key glitch. From my knowledge it only works well on the HD ports (PS3/XBOX 360) cause the aspect ratio has to be a certain way for it to work.
I noticed when you said knuckles looks evil due to the lighting in the final Shadow Fight I realized Knuckles had no eyes

Funny thing about playing Prison Gate with Sonic? It makes the Magic Hands useful for a change. You can use them to grab and kill enemies behind the gates, so long as they're close enough to it, lmao. But one or two enemies at the very end after the third-to-last gate are unreachable regardless, unfortunately. (No matter how precise your aim is, the ball can't reach them.)

Rouge was easily one of my first massive videogame crush. Despite only seeing her like once while playing a sonic game at a friends house. As i was a playstation kid.
theoretically someone could spend hours diving into prison lane's geometry to possibly discover something on par with the wind waker barrier skip. perhaps there is a window between the doors that one's not actually discovered because it is sub-pixel perfect or something? that would pose one more challenge, though; how to sidle around the doors without clipping through the floor. that or discovering a frame-perfect & subpixel-perfect jump/clip combo to avoid going out of bounds through the floor. all theory, but testable in a Tool-Assisted Run of Prison Lane.
But for that to be achievable, we would first have to talk about parallel universes.

probably because the game has a static loadingroutine since there only were supposed to be sonic,knuckles and eggmanlevels(shadow was also in the story originally,but i assume you were never meant to play as him when the first concepts for the game were made) and you never fight bosses that dont fit the playstyle anyways.
so basicly something like:
bossbattle? load eventdata(like playerspawn,etc)
who fights? treasurehunt character dark? okay,spawn knuckles/treasurehunt character hero
apply AIvalue *insert AI for any given boss*
