U don't have to jump on to the first canister in prison lane as tails than damage boost. You can actually damage boost on to the cannister than damage boost off it saving 1 jump from ur counter. U can save 1 jump in eternal engine if u damage boost onto the first metal box than hover and use the junky large hit box of the spring to bounce up so eternal engine is only 3 jumps. I'm curious, in hidden base u might be able to save one jump if u can maintain the rng esk speed shoes u can sometimes get from that check point and just jump straight to the other edge and than just damage boost.
it’s actually insane that you accidentally discovered already used speedrun strats while doing this. Fantastic job!
Over 20 years later and I'm still learning new speed run tricks! I love that people are still finding all kinds of fun stuff!

My first version is the gamecube version(kinda) on dolphin emulator, after months of playing it, i knew it was a thing by youtube and, didn't even bother to try it only on sadx also on dolphin emulator lol

@@goddessdeedeebubblesofimag7789 I think it was in some European versions where this glitch existed (I live in Sweden). Naturally I found it super annoying. It would seemingly at random do the hover jump glitch, which could screw up some jumps as Sonic. Like, when you wanted to jump over a hole, he instead homing attacked forward and fell in.
Or, in PAL if set to the wrong hertz, a continued annoyance.
Well, the hover was nice but the instant homing attack not so much. It made the egg golem fight horrendous as a kid with sonic.

Honestly this was so worth the wait like man you did it again amazing job as per usual
A easier way to finish the ending of crazy gadget [that requires 2 jumps] is to do a super bounce on the purple block to land on top of it and then spin dash jump. You should be upside down on the place where the goal ring is. Its mostly luck, but with the right angle. You'll reach the goal!
This so good, if only I had the skill and patience to do it, can’t wait for the next part!

If you ever decide to make a revisit of this video, talk to me, I worked in the A button challenge (even more restrictive than minimal jumps) for years along with some others and the counts for the stages you had can almost always be improved, sometimes by a lot like in Hidden Base's case, where I managed to complete the stage in 22 jumps 4 years ago, which is a lot less than what you needed. Dawn is a great player but he wasn't aware of all the progress in the A button challenge when he helped you.

YESSSSS FINALLY, ayyyyyyyyy I got a shout out, two more discoveries I found. Save 1 jump in prison lane by taking damage on to the first yellow container than using ur method to damage boost again... In eternal engine damage boost onto the first iron block than hover around to the side of it where the springs large hit box will send u up.

I can't wait till a developer purposely assists Speedrunners: Sure we've created this 30 min level with deatil up the butt! But let's make a legit way to speedrun in like 2 mins!
I've seen it done in various RTS games. If there's a timed defense mission, there's oftentimes an alternate win condition for being a fair bit more badass than is expected of you. Though it'd be cool to see more intentional skips in more genres.

So, you can beat SA2 without pressing the A button except for when you need to make a homing attack, except when you are knucles so you can glide, except when you are tails ou can hover, man, just give up

id argue that a "bounce" is more of a jump than letting go off a rope or swing...
Bounces are jumps as far as I'm concerned because you are pressing the jump button to do them.
...bouncing uses the B button. The A button is for jumping.
