Remember rotation happens from using your legs correctly. That’s the key

The biggest obstacle I have faced in my golf swing… Tried to implement all the explanations from other teachers as to how to rotate the hips…Yours is the best….Looking forward to a better swing

Like this tip on rotation. Very simple and I have to practice this drill right now. Thanks.

The best explanation I’ve ever heard on this topic

This is a phenomenal explanation! Everyone tells you to rotate and rotational power is in the legs, but your video just explains it perfectly in ways that make me believe that I can have that too.
I’m tall and big so I’m pretty inflexible with a shorter backswing, this will help me immensely!
    Thank you!

It gets confusing when people say that so I’m glad this clarify’s the move

Nice one Giles. Thank you. It’s interesting that you’ve included two bits of yoga equipment. As I’ve been starting each morning with a yoga session (at home) for about the last 5 years as a 50 year old male. It has so many benefits. Golfing specific for me is it’s improved my overall balance and range of movement whilst keeping a calm mental swing process. Not hitting the ball as fast as I’m now averaging about 195 kph with my driver, yet distance and accuracy have both improved. I was very sceptical at the start, yet now that this change is part of my life it benefits me both on and off the course.

Excellent video Giles on how to clear and rotate the left hip through impact. I like the idea of using "ground force" to the left foot in order to achieve this move! This will be something I will be working on in the coming months! Well Done Giles!

Not that it has anything to do with the point of the video, but I really like the little motion with the butt end of the club at the top of your backswing as you start to the transition into down swing, like drawing a little circle with the end of the club. 👌🏼

Thank you! Something I’ve never thought about but just happens

Phew. Finally someone saying the 20 degrees open at impact is also OK. I can't open any further for the love of god at 55.

20 degrees is more than enough

Maybe this will help me stay in posture I have always tried to rock back onto my left heel.

At top of backswing should you feel most of your weight on trail leg and very light on lead foot? So that you can transfer the weight to lead foot as you use that to push your lead hip back? I always started and tried to keep weight on front foot to try to encourage a descending blow but it's been hard for me to really push the lead hip back that way.

50/50 at the top. Weight shift starts before backswing finishes

Nice video (it's 'force precedes motion', not proceeds).

I can rotate my hip using my muscles without pushing anything. I can even do it on ice.
I even tried it with my leg of the ground while sitting in my car. I can still rotate my hips. Hmm

Please email me a video of you doing it on ice because without friction you can’t bud
