Eveyone who ever picks up a golf club needs to watch this video. I have struggled for years with the hip turn and this has totally changed everything! Best video on TH-cam.
I can not agree more with this. It's going to sound like an exaggeration, but I took these thoughts to the range with me today and can honestly say I'm a different golfer today than I was yesterday. I'm a beginner (2nd year now) and this was life changing.
Finally an epiphany moment that actually produces success!!! This is so golden, fixed my inability to get my hips around… it all came down to trying to clear my hips at the same time and speed as hands. I was starting to get my hips turning was too late! All it took was slowing down arms and getting my left leg external early and rotating sooner. Making my swing more sequential instead of all go at the same time. now I’m compressing the ball consistently and hitting straighter… thanks you so much for this amazing lesson
This is THE BEST VIDEO ON TH-cam. I discovered this on my own, and this reinforces a lot of ideas I’ve been using but didn’t know exactly why it was working.
one of the best, if not the best, videos on YT that explains speed, rotation and cures a lot of problems ike early extension, lag, swing plane etc. Trevor is just awesome!
I've watched a thousand golf instruction videos and this one is the best ever. The two points about personal speed awareness and, especially, the femur movement are gold!
@@CogornoGolfgreat work on this! Takes a lot of wisdom and humility to just place yourself in the position of the student instead of trying to jump in and share your own knowledge
Thx Eric, you’re the best at bringing top instruction from multiple sources like Trevor, Malaska…etc. It shows that you really want your subs and members to improve.
This tip is a game changer. More relaxed tension free swing. The femur move finally is the holy grail I have been looking for. Thank you both. Took it to the course yesterday. So easy.
The Femur is the key here for me after coming across this on my own recently. Thank you for being extremely detail oriented to actually go into the femur and how to open it during transition !!! I need to save this for my next range session and round 🙏🏼 You’re great Eric !
I’ve had an arms-y, rigid and too-fast upper body swing for 20 years. This year I’ve been trying to rebuild a swing at age 50. This video has helped me finally get it. You said a lightbulb moment; it definitely is for me. Now I practice. Thanks fellas.
That femur/knee movement is exactly what I’ve been looking for. OMG I absolutely needed this so thank you so much for this video. I previously was trying to move my hip and no wonder I couldn’t understand how to clear the hips. That one little knee movement from 2-10 o’clock is literally game changing
This is great, it help me find my feel I’ve had in the past. I makes your swing feel so effortless and not to mention no flipping and the sound of the compression 🤯this video is definitely saved for when my golf swing is in shambles!
If only I found this video a year ago when I first started golfing I would be a scratch golfer by now. I self taught this move and it’s so so powerful.
This is one of the best explanations I’ve ever seen of this concept and the slowing down piece is so key to getting these moves ingrained. Thank you for this one!!
Thanks, Eric! Been working on the different phases. I don’t believe you specifically state how to add the speed in the impact zone (phase 2) but I think I’ve figured it out. That speed increase feels like it comes from my lower body and catapulting back up with my left leg and hip continuing to open. Is that accurate or is the speed added through the hands or something else? Would love validation though.
Another great video Eric. A friend of mine ex Ryder Cup player Philip Walton, likes to see me firing my left knee at the target, which helps me turn nicely through the shot.
There’s a lot of information in this video. We have to realize that the thought is quicker than the feeling. You can think about on aspect of the swing while feeling for another aspect of the swing.
The best step-by-step instruction for down swing sequence, especially the leading leg turning out from 12-1 o’clock to 11 o’clock. Will keep that in mind! Thanks
Incredibly useful and clear vid. I've "felt" the looseness and the sequencing this creates, but it comes and goes...never knew how to lock it down. Thanks!
Just came back from the range after watching this. This was exactly what I needed reminding of, hit them better than I did in a long, long time. Especially the tension had crept back into my swing. Thanks!
I'm new to golf and have been struggling with my irons. I couldn't find a clear video on good iron technique/theory except for here, and top speed golf. This video makes everything about flushing irons so clear now, good content thanks.
This is the best explanation I have ever seen for hip rotation. I have always been stuck focusing on the hips themselves vs. the influence of the arms. Simple and practical solution. Thanks to both of you!
Amazing video... For a beginner like me struggling to really rotate my hips, the femur / opening the left knee towards the target is A GOLDEN ADVICE...
My compliments to you both. This is absolutely what I needed. Was struggling with pull hooks and the harder I tried to speed up hips the worse it got. Pro trying to solve the problem asked I felt tension but did not describe how to fix the problem. He was sharp to pick it up. With deployment of this solution the problem was solved. I am very grateful to you both. Hope you both have great success. Based on videos like this I am sure you both have been and will be in future. Awesome! Best Regards.
Thanks for another great and extremely helpful video. Well done! You guys have such a nice collaboration and symmetry teaching with each other. Would love more videos with both of you working together. Trevor - I love your concept of things needing to be tension free. Thanks again guys!
I appreciate Eric cause even though he's a good golfer, the fact that he's curious about the golf swing and asks his guest for their technique is awesome
This is the video I needed. I make very smooth practice swings with great timing and sequence. Put a ball in front of me, and I fall apart because I’m increasing my swing speed too much and getting out of control. Great video!!!
Wow! I, genuinely, NEVER leave comments, but I just had to with this one! Thanks so, so much for this!! Im going to put it in to every pre round warm up for sure because it is so super good to release all that tension! I went to the range this morning and started trying to hit it as slowly and loosely as possible and the improvement in impact and distance straight away was incredible! Love, love, love how it helped me to rotate so well! I actually (as my arms were moving so slowly) could feel my left foot and knee starting to open almost instantly! As soon as i started my takeaway i started to let my foot twist a little and it made impact so much easier and crisper. I also found i had "time" to focus as well on the skipping the rock type move with my right arm on the through swing... and because my left hip had moved out the way so early, i felt like i had so much room to skip the rock / get to impact. Such a great feeling!!! Cant wait to try it with my driver too as i 100% know i have been putting way too much tension in to that swing... trying to hit it like Bryson of course 😂 thanks again guys!!! Game changer!!!
Excellent video. For me, I work on clearing my front hip out of the way through pressure in my feet. From the top of the backswing, I push my front foot towards 11 on the clock dial (assume 12 is straight forward when at address). As I get deeper into the downswing, the pressure of my front foot moves more to what would be 9:30. As this is happening, the pressure in my front foot is moving my front knee forward opening my front hip (externally rotating my front hip) and straightening my front leg. This seems to clear room for my rear knee to kick forward and my rear hip to come around. This, in turn, creates a ton of room for my arms to come into and through the hitting area at a high rate of speed. When I do this I don't feel any tension and I don't feel like my arms are met with any resistance (good bye chicken wing). (An additional layer, for another day, is the way the pressure of my rear foot works in conjunction with the pressure of my front foot). Just asking for some advice, do you agree this is a valid way to go in order to get to the tension free high speed swing you are discussing? Thanks for any comments.
@@CogornoGolf well it has helped but I have had this issue for so long it rears its ugly head on a regular basis. I get it down pat and I want that extra distance and disaster, the ADHD transition :( I use this video regularly.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent explanation. I feel this will transform my game. I actually stopped at the 12 minute mark just to comment. I can't wait to work this in to my practice and game.
saw this video last night - took a golf club out, in the rain, and really focused on being as loose as possible throughout the swing. I felt my hips turning and firing for the first time. Started adding some gas on the downswing and I could hear by club whooshing faster without the same effort I had to put in a tension-filled shot before. Now to get to the range and try it for real!
Now try it with a golf ball in front of you , most of us can make a great swing without the ball but it’s totally different when you have to hit the ball
Adding another "feel" to accomplish the same the goal is priceless. I like to feel my left hip going straight back and my right hip trying to turn under it. I've also used the "push" feel of my left foot. All of it is the same result. I love the slowing down. That's 2 fold. It helps to get you open but a secondary benefit is rhythm and timing. That can't be stressed enough.
I just practiced this movement, resulting in a significant improvement in contact and especially in power. This movement allows for an even greater use of the force of gravity. 👍
A possibly useful addition, is that if your arms are trying to generate speed too early, the your hips/pelvis turn from a mover to a stabilizer. That’s why I think “stalling” is a bad term because although they have stalled, it is because they are stabilizing instead of moving. If you are relatively tension free in the arms early, your hips and pelvis can be a mover instead of purely a stabilizer. Basically the hips stall out of self preservation! Thanks for the video, Alan.
Great video on both temp and rotation. I try to think of keeping the speed slow until ready to release, the only part of the swing that's fast is release and follow through. Also like the videos of Fleetwood. I've heard his key is move the left hip back. Those two keys can make for a very good round.
Tried this today. I found the feedback really interesting. Not trying to smash the cover of it and just feel like the club head was dropping down. Knocking an 8 iron around 100 yards with just a smooth, slow swing. Didn’t find it quite as easy with the driver but all in all a really good exercise 👍🏻
