  • Jamaica was….GORGEOUS! Oh my gosh you guys I’m so excited to share this all inclusive resort in Jamaica vlog with you. The trip was amazing (like…. Did you see that lagoon?!) and in this video I’m answering a ton of questions as to how I navigate an all you can eat buffet as a non-diet, intuitive eating dietitian with no food rules.
Buckle up buttercups cause in this video we are going to cover everything from drinking alcohol intuitively, travel constipation, how to not feel like you gotta eat eeeeeverything you see and, obvi, body image in swimsuits.
Don’t forget to give this video a thumbs up if you want to see more full days of eating! And if you’re not already subscribed to the channel be sure you do so you ya don’t miss ‘em

One thing I’ve learned over the years, and I now practice saying in everyday like, “just because I enjoyed one, doesn’t mean I need to have another”. For me that usually goes for things like alcoholic drinks and different desserts or dainties

Vacation for me is more about enjoying the non routine of life, but also i know we'll be walking a lot so steps are big on Vacation. If there's a gym , cool, and i have exercised on Vacation but you're right. Its more about the why. I also get restless as well. Its a fine line because Vacation should be about relaxing but its hard to do lol

Such a great video Colleen!! I appreciate you letting us into the various parts of your vacation and how you navigate intuitive consumption. Loved that you touched on alcohol too! And it feels very timely to drop this video so close to such a food centric holiday where, often, food is all-you-can-eat. You're a natural at this vlog-style-content. Thank you for taking the time on your vacation to create content for us. Your insight is *so* helpful, and by the looks of these comments, so appreciated!! (:

tbh i just enjoy a vacation blog lol! My brother and I went to mexico and we ate and drank SO much, and honestly I don't remember a lot of it so what was the point? I think I"d do it a lot differently now. I've been kind of on a semi-vacation for a few weeks and still track food (since I tend to be on the over-eating side rather than under-eating) but I think I've been doing ok. The thing I need to practice before going full intuitive is getting enough protein- I always feel better and less likely to binge on carbs if I get the protein in.

      I'm exactly the same.
I get those macros in every meal carbs fat protein.
Comes the snacks, I like Greek yogurt because it's high in protein and it's convenient for a snack. Chobani has some really awesome flavors. I like to mixed the pineapple or the lemon with my homemade granola.

I appreciate how you wrap in multiple topics because we need to remember food nutrition has several tentacles like how do we feel after we eat. Like bowels, movements to feel better not to burn calories. For me i have to watch dehydrating drinks because of leg cramps. Water works best. I feel better having a large salad with mixture of cabbage and dark greens. Guess ineed themicronutrients. My biggest challenge is to wait to trust and recognize hunger. To not overeat because i am over hungry and end up not hungry for next meal. Working on waiting to eat when i feel that a drop in blood sugar and stopping when i feel that gentle gentle nudge i have had enough. Find I experience remorse wrapping or throwing out the rest of my meal. I am working on recognizing hunger with gentle. cues like low blood sugar signals like i find myself looking for food. If i go past that point then i am too hungry and want to eat everything. I used to exercise to lose weight. Now i find myself rebelling against movement. I need to move for the reason i feel better. I am mid 60s first dieted when was when i was 15. Lost several pounds multiple times. Never able to maintain for more than a year. Now i have years of bad food and movement habits to break. What i need to remember is to concentrate on doing what helps me to feel better and happier.

When you're in Jamaica, I would think that there would be some cool places to get your hair braided. That would be super super convenient concerning the humidity.

What I do is fill up one plate, casually eat what's on said plate, go for more on a new plate, rinse repeat. I take my time and don't eat until I'm sick. And, I stay away from expensive buffets where I know I'm NOT to get my money's worth bc I eat like a bird. Lol. 15 dollar Chinese buffet with Dad every so often eating at the most three full plates, including dessert, I'm all in, lol. 45 or more dollar buffet, no thanks. Unless it's family style and I'm with a large group.
