    I love intermittent fasting and have been eating mostly OMAD since June 2020. Even though OMAD is my standard, I love being flexible in my schedule and will at times have variations to keep things interesting. I have lost weight, got into a healthy weight range for my height and maintained the weight loss for over 3 years! I love to share the flexibility and peace offered through intermittent fasting.

    I am 33.5hrs into my first 5 day fast. On day 1, I got my period AND Covid!! Still, powering through. Hardest part is cooking for and sitting with my kid at meal times. Thanks for sharing your journey and motivating others ❤

      Update: I stopped at 62 hours as I was just so poorly, I needed a pick me up. Will definitely be doing it again when I am healthy and Covid free! 💪🏻 Not mad at myself for failing - still a great fast.

    You are so strong to make long fast like that at home. I always have to go away from home, find some different environment. My longest fast was 7 days, I was in a fasting camp for that :) 36 fast I am able to make at home. This is easy. Good job you did!

    I usually fast 19/5, and I’ve been doing that for a year. I’ve lost 29 pounds, with 26 to go. I hit a plateau, so I decided to try Alternate Day Fasting.
    I did it for two weeks- clean fasts (36-40 hours) M, W, & F. By the end of the two weeks, I was DONE! My “diet brain” came back! I went from happily intermittent fasting every day to OBSESSING about food again! I felt like my life was on hold until I could eat again! It felt like a return to deprivation- this is exactly why I stopped dieting!
    I’m glad I tried it, and I maybe I’ll do it occasionally for plateaus, but I’m going back to IF!
    Glad you can do a 5-day fast Jackie, that’s amazing, but make sure it’s worth it!

    I used to do a 5 day fast once a month a few years back. I stopped when I had an episode on the morning of day 4 when I couldn’t even walk to the bathroom without holding onto walls and furniture. I made it to the toilet but broke out into crazy sweats and couldn’t even get up off the toilet so I crawled off and laid out on the bathroom floor until my husband came to the rescue. Definitely one of the scariest moments I’ve ever experienced.

      My guess is you were constipated and the hard poop compressed the vasovagal nerve when trying to come out. That will slow your heart rate and make you pass out. Lying on the floor was smart. It helps the blood redistribute.
      This has happened to both me and my mother.

    Awesome job Jackie!! Congrats on pressing through!🎉🎉 Your body becomes more efficient at utilizing the ketones you produce for energy with fasting over time, so not going too high in the reading is a good indicator of that. My longest fast was also 5 days clean. It’s certainly a great reset for the body and mind!

      I agree. I am curious about the health benefits that can be obtained if one is healthy or was this just a "why not'? But what's the next longer fast? 7 days? 14 days? Also: even Gin Stephens says that these long fasts should not be be done without medical supervision.

      @@jillkubitschek2145 There are benefits. The benefits that happen AT 48-72 hours mean that’s when they kick in. You can go longer so those benefits work longer. It takes most people 72 hours to hit true autophagy. The longer you are in this state, the more “eating” of the bad/damaged/sick cells.

    • @TheNaomi84
      @TheNaomi84 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      The further into the fast you go, not only does autophagy clear out all the bad, old cells but you actually generate new stem cells! Definitely worth it 👍🏻
