    The "it's all I have" statement was filled with pain. We all don't know what is going on in this man's life but anyway with any empathy should have recognized there was pain there. So to me it was remarkable how many people so flippantly told him to get a life, get over it, man up; this is the new strain of people in the world, Soulless, self-enamored and self-delusional and all to quick to sneer at someone so they can (temporarily) feel better about themselves. That man deserved more from us who witnessed his pain.

    • @LegendWolfA
      @LegendWolfA 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +32

      Its easy to assume that people who are addicted to things are just lazy and don't have enough power. This goes for anything, video games, alcohol, fast food, etc.
      Im not glorifying addiction, i need to clarify. If you have an addiction try to break out of it and seek help
      What im advocating for is not call these people "pathetic" or whatever insult just because they're hooked to something. This guy may have survived trauma. He might be dealing with grief.
      Don't assume till you know the full story.

    • @brianrandolph6681
      @brianrandolph6681 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +69

      @@LegendWolfA We don't really have context to say it's addiction. What if all the guy did during his free time was golf, would we call that an addiction? What if he just watched football while drinking beer with his buddies? We might say it's not good behavior, but we wouldn't label it an addiction. Her statement of "It's all you do" isn't proof that her viewpoint is real.
      While we could question his statement of "it's all I have", we still have no context. Is he grieving because he lost someone close? Did he just get fired or encounter financial difficulty to where he doesn't feel like he can afford any other hobbies?
      Clearly, her taking this short video with no context, and not showing the rest of the conversation, shows a major lack of respect on her part. I'd be interested to see his explanation, but I bet that doesn't fit her narrative.

    • @RedundantRico
      @RedundantRico 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

      The “it’s all i have” could also be due to him spending all of his time and money on their relationship and general living prohibiting him from either spending money on other (more expensive “approved” hobbies) and like we all know, men between 23-30 struggle to find friends if they aren’t with their high school/college gang. This can also be attributed to having to work odd hours or high energy jobs leaving little for personal time which video games can cater too

    My ex-girlfriend once got mad at me for gaming on my computer, she claimed we never spend time together... I had just spent the entire day with her and she was literally 5 feet away from me when I was on the computer. I told her we just spent the day together (it was like 8pm), and she answered the day isn't over. I asked her what she wanted from me at that very moment. She said she wanted me to sit down and watch TV with her... like I said we were 5 feet apart, in line of sight of one-another. I was simply not doing what she was doing and that was apparently a problem. She then said gaming is unhealthy. We were 2 months in at that point. I kind of snapped back to reality, and I told her alright - that's it. Get your shit and leave. I called her a cab and paid for it upfront. The next morning I gathered her shit and dropped it in front of her place and left. She tried calling me over and over again, she wanted to talk - but I had realized she was insane. Six months later I found my current gf of 5 years and nothing of the sort has ever come close to happening. Some women refuse to be happy and keep moving the goalpost. A tip I would give other men would be to find a woman that has her own hobbies. If she doesn't have any, you'll be her hobby and she'll start behaving like you owe her all of your time.

The irony was that I lost interest BECAUSE her expectations were so unattainable. She was a violent, manipulative and downright angry human being, with no thought of anyone but herself. I guess she realizes what she lost; she has a kid with another guy now and she’s been trying to get back together with me since the day I dumped her. She begged me to take her back while she was pregnant with his kid; I think she wanted to trick me into thinking she was mine. Pure evil. It’s why I have primary custody of our son, even with a history of opioid addiction. This woman wore me down so much, that I became addicted to heroin; that video brought me back to where it all began. I suggest you read the surviving infidelity subreddit or watch some red pill stuff and it will help you judge these women way way way better....at least that's what helped me. It freaking changed my life man.

I don't see the point in turning the system off for no reason, or to do some dumb stuff like "oh this is all you do". Women tend to be so harsh when it comes to men's hobbies, but he's not over here slapping your phone out your hand and telling you that you're always on your phone, is he? (High five) I'm an AFAB nonbinary person dating a gamer guy. Oftentimes I do feel sad because I can't join him on his gaming. A. Because quite frankly I'm too stupid. I just can't understand anything with that stuff. And B. Because I'm just not into video games, they don't really interest me at all. I'm an artist, I'm a musician, THAT'S my passion. It makes me sad that I have to always be excluded from that aspect of his life. But I get over it. Because he can't really get into the music, art and theater stuff that I'm into. I'm a born performer who is meant to be on stage. But he doesn't care about any of that. We just have our own things that the other person can't truly be included in. It's just part of our relationship. The only game he and I play together....a LOT is Stardew Valley. That's the kind of game I can play. A farming game, a game with fighting and a game where you interact with characters and fall in love. It's the perfect game for me and we love playing together. Sometimes we marry each other and sometimes we marry our respective loves (He loves Sophia and I love Leah). Yes we both get jealous of the other person's wife but it's all in good fun. We never rage quit or anything. We just play, help each other and have a good time. The only time I ever have an issue with his gaming is when he is choosing to do that during our designated time together especially if it's a special occasion for us such as our anniversary. If it was our anniversary and he chose to spend it playing with his friends instead of spending time with me I would be furious. But other than that I don't care. I want him to have fun with his friends and have ways to enjoy life besides me.

      @jamesrudnicky5937 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No, it doesn't. It's not a Win98 computer...and it didn't damage the hard drive back then, it screwed up the software. Power on/off does nothing to the hardware in a platter drive...dropping or jostling it while it is on does.

    • @cameronwhite2760

      @jamesrudnicky5937 You've obviously not done your research. Powering off a pc/console unexpectedly (whether through an outage, surge, or cycling the switch) can and will cause damage. If you're lucky, it's just data corruption. If not, I've seen HDD's crack/shatter. I used to rebuild PC's/consoles and I lived in an area with an unreliable powergrid and lost 2 PC hard drives and a PS4 hard drive this very way. Stop trying to sound smart when you're not.

      @@cameronwhite2760 sounds like faulty hardware, likely some of the models that were recalled. The drive models no data center would ever use.
      There is what CAN happen vs what SHOULD happen. You get what you pay for, for starters. Secondarily, shit happens.
      However, it isn't SUPPOSED to happen.
      But hey yeah, I'm uninformed. Nevermind IT certifications, several years of actively doing IT administration for a public library when 98 was brand new, multitudes of gaming computers built for others, years of repairing laptops.
      Usually what burns out is capacitors within the hardware. This can happen ANY time power is cycled on or off, even properly. Starting and stopping current is the most damaging thing a computer takes, and even then, when power buttons were physical switches, the power button broke more often than something burnt out.
      A console has basically been a PC since playstation2 (it literally used a Pentium 2 BX Intel board, the same board used for most computers sold at the time, as well as a rather ridiculous amount of advanced weaponry like guided missiles).
      The SAFEST thing for hardware is to be constantly in one state or the other. Either never turn it on, or never turn it off.
      Likewise, any SATA hard drive (like has been standard for 20 years now) are hot-swappable...IE you are literally pulling it out of the running device and putting a different one in it's place. This would be literally impossible to do without damaging the hardware if it worked as you think it does.
      Your issues sound more like damage from a power SURGE, likely because the grid would cut out with it's lack of reliability, never got ACTUALLY turned off (or more properly, unplugged) so that it didn't immediately take the incoming hard surge when power was restored.
      Like when you forget to pay the power bill, and when they turn it back on, they ask you to start by unplugging sensitive devices and turning off power at your breaker panel until service is turned back on. The power company will TELL YOU TO DO THIS every time.
      ...but just turning it off without going through the shutdown process does NOTHING to the hardware like you think it does.

    • @cameronwhite2760

      @@Alexis-kg1sm During power fluctuations the disks in an HDD will be slowing down and speeding up as the electricity goes in and out. This can lead to stress fractures over time. I've pulled Hard drives out of computers that have failed after a power outage just to find the disks fractured many a time. SSD's are not susceptible to this type of damage thankfully. Though this problem was more common in older HDD's, newer HDD's have improvements to prevent/reduce the chance of damage.

      Honestly online communication is so much easier than irl. It feels like, now that I'm an adult with a kid, all my friends are busy with their own life stuff and it's hard to get that small amount of time to hang out and do something. With online, they can connect at any time, while you're on, to talk or game. Some of my longest lasting friends of some 13+ years are online and not even in the same country (their time zone works better for when I get off work and have time to get on).

    Armchair observation time:
    For the girl -
    Running up and turning off the game without saying anything shows that she gives zero respect to what he's doing, or the relationship they are in. It suggests that she's constantly running on impulse, never communicates to him, and does her own thing. Doing so is actively showing that she devalues him, and is someone who would rather treat him like a child then talk to him.
    "It's all you do" is a line telling me that she's frustrated that this is his sole focus of de-winding from a long day. She absolutely should NOT have turned off his console, and instead of said something to him. Even after he said "Don't" and she did it anyway is the confirmation I need to know that she does not listen to him.
    For the guy -
    He sets the controller down, and you can see the stress just blow the lid as he gets up. He's struggling to be nice about his choice of words, and when he said "It's all I have", that's not a man saying that he only has a video game in the world, that's an individual saying that, collectively he has nothing left. He feels no emotion in his relationship, and it could be caused by other factors. Maybe his job is eating him alive, and when he comes home, he's tired of trying to work with a girl who actively refuses to listen to him and runs on impulse. He's clearly stressed to the max, and the actions of the girl show quite a bit of the situation that he's not happy in a relationship with her.
    Speculation and thoughts -
    Ultimately, they would need to talk to one another and vent things out. It could be that he's tried to get her to do stuff with him and she actively refuses to do anything he wants, and she could be very controlling and always demanding things from him.
    They clearly don't communicate, and it's a boiling point of collective issues piled together into this one last point event.

    I remember a woman who was a complete stranger who decided to turn off my pc while working in college on my IT projects. I had to format a hard drive create multiple VMs and then create an entire virtual network. While in the middle of the os loading on to multiple virtual machines she turns it off. There are multiple computers near by where she could work on I was working in an area where at least 15 other machines were available at the massive table that I was in at college.
    I asked why she did that and her answer was I want to use your computer. I'm like there are so many other computers that you could use and you just ruined hours of work to figure out how to set up a network. IP addresses to use and how they would all be done all because you want to be a b****.

    As a female who has watched anime, read manga, done art and played games religiously for years now, this pains my non existent soul to the very core. If your partner decides that playing games is a better past time than spending time with you(tho srsly, they can’t be around you 24/7), maybe there’s something wrong with your relationship that needs to be fixed, and it’s definitely not something you should openly post(humiliate) on the Internet. And I GUARANTEE you that if this was a reverse situation where a guy deleted a girl’s TikTok account because that was ‘all she does’ people would have gone ‘OMg hE’S sO ToXIc LeT tHE woMAn Do wHaT sHE wAnts’. I’m sick of this.
    Also video games are childish? Aren’t like, the majority of gamers young adults/adults if not teens? And aren’t a lot of video games meant to have target audiences that are older?(*cough cough* Mortal Kombat *cough cough*) Get out of here. Most people who belittle video games has probably never even tried a game(at least not a good one) before. Gaming is a valuable form of escapism that’s just as valid as anything else, while also being a skill that can be extremely difficult to hone(I’m a fighting game player and trust me, it is HARD). There’s a reason there are tournaments for them. I rest my case.
    Maybe this is why I’ve been single for my whole life, idk. But if this crap is what I would have to deal with for having a precious hobby I enjoy and love, then maybe I don’t want to be in a relationship after all.

It’s an absolute necessity in a healthy relationship to have “me” time, for both partners. Doing things together all the time isn’t always healthy. And it’s usually seen as a way to go your own ways for bits and pieces during a relationship to bring back stories and events to talk about with your significant other. From the outside looking in, it seems she’s controlling, and very codependent. It’s one thing to request some time to talk, or to go do things, but a completely different story if you resort as a first reaction to interrupt your SO personal time.
