A woman on a date tested me once, at least I think it was a test. She took 2 bites of her food and said she was done. Waitress asked if she wanted it wrapped to go and my date said no. Not really. It depends. Some people absolutely love extra cheese. There's a restaurant in my area that makes a 1$ chicken cheese shawarma. Now the cheese that the put on the shawarma is not a lot. It's just so-so. However the quality of that cheese is really good compared to what I get to eat elsewhere. So I always ask for extra chicken pieces and extra cheese and they charge about 15c for each, so total 30c, but my god the amount adds up to double. And that is satisfying. To each their own. Actually I'll double down saying that if someone complains about the extra cheese charges being too expensive, then they actually probably know what they're talking about. If it's NYC with 21$ of a burger, I'm sure it's not a lot of extra cheese in it. However if it were something a mid tier restaurant in another city, I'm sure that extra is hella worth.

But the reality is that you rarely get what you pay for, especially in places with high rent that inflate the price of goods and services being provided or places with owners/chefs who think they‘re better at what they‘re doing than what they really are. It's pretty crazy - if anything she could have taken it as a sign that the guy is a rational human being that's trying to be careful not to spend money frivolously. Not really. It depends. Some people absolutely love extra cheese. There's a restaurant in my area that makes a 1$ chicken cheese shawarma. Now the cheese that the put on the shawarma is not a lot. It's just so-so. However the quality of that cheese is really good compared to what I get to eat elsewhere. So I always ask for extra chicken pieces and extra cheese and they charge about 15c for each, so total 30c, but my god the amount adds up to double. And that is satisfying.
To each their own.
Actually I'll double down saying that if someone complains about the extra cheese charges being too expensive, then they actually probably know what they're talking about.
If it's NYC with 21$ of a burger, I'm sure it's not a lot of extra cheese in it. However if it were something a mid tier restaurant in another city, I'm sure that extra is hella worth.

But the reality is that you rarely get what you pay for, especially in places with high rent that inflate the price of goods and services being provided or places with owners/chefs who think they‘re better at what they‘re doing than what they really are. But no matter the cost of the burger, there exists no world where a slice of cheese no matter the quality costs 3$, even if it‘s high class or whatever.
