Having spent 20+ years as a mechanic in bowling centers, I KNOW how long it takes to clean the machines, and would have GLADLY physically thrown ALL of them out the door. AND I would NOT have been alone, as many of the other customers would have joined me. Not to mention several other workers! We RARELY had to rely on "security" to help.
@@octosquid48 Normal, routine cleaning takes about 45 per machine. If we had to clean pumpkin guts out from under them as well as in the machine, add about another hour and a half. Heck, cleaning up a broken flourescent bulb takes 2 hours per machine and usually includes having to clean machines on either side as well.
A couple of years ago someone did this exact same thing in a bowling alley near me. They had to completely close down for several weeks as they had to completely dismantle the machinery to get all of the pumpkin bits and juices out. They also had to call an extermination company as the rotting pumpkin attracted insects and rats. I hear the moron had to pay the business upwards of £80k for the loss in revenue, fines and costs.

Hey, I’m a pinchaser which means I work behind bowling lanes, the best case scenario is we shut down the lane for about a minute to get the pumpkin out. Worst case is the pumpkin breaks in the ball lift and ruins not only the lane but the one next to it as well as they share ball returns. Maintenance to restore the lanes would take a full day not counting ordering parts if needed. Also those machines are around $20,000 each for professional quality.
Not gonna lie that's cheaper than I expected. For some reason I always assumed the whole facility used one machine worth roughly 250k. No facts in any of that. Just assumptions. 😅

We back our people 100% (unless obviously they throw hands or something and it's completely unwarranted, luckily has not happened yet) All I can say is we've built a great reputation of being able to successfully deal with these cockroaches. As an ex-security guard; if she would have hit him and he hit back, he still could have lost his job... Security aren't cops so him fighting back could go to court and a public jury would decide if he was in the right... you would hope that the public saw equality and allow him to fight back, but there is a heavy stigma against males striking females even if hit first... plus his size would breed an argument that he "could take it" or "wasn't in danger." I'm not saying she won't be in trouble for assault... she would... but he can easily be judged for going to far in response... As a guard it was heavily emphasized that physical response is last resort and needs to be proceeded by danger, not annoyance... As a security guard, I confirm that people do anything to test your patience. Some people during a Halloween fest I worked at kept walking by me and screaming at me to see if I flinched. A group of people lied to me and another officer on a group of teens and fled during the investigation. At a nightclub, drunk women would think that because they're pretty they can get into a club without a pass. One girl I remember would not let anyone touch her bag in a bag check line, and when I grabbed it for inspection she filed a s*xual harassment claim against me. Thankfully it was found not guilty and she was kicked out But yeah security guards have hard jobs because the customers want one thing but management wants another so any small mistake could risk your career. The money may be good but the stress is bigger

Was tasked with admissions during the 2019 SF state park smokeout on 4-20-19, you can only imagine how retarded the situation can become with a bunch of light weight yuppies baked off their asses having to queue in large lines to get in or score munchie snacks. These kids were the personification of spoiled & entitled with a majority of the youngsters being the offspring of the elite from the city.
I was a guard a long, long time ago. The money was minimum wage, we had to get the issued uniforms dry-cleaned per a schedule, at our expense, over our days off. Supervisors were okay, and there was decent understanding with the armed guards and various bus drivers. It was actually at FedEx, and the group that always gave us crap were the loaders. The best group? The aircrew. If someone came up in a flight uniform, pilot or flight engineer (still had them back then) they were polite, and usually needed their car to get a quick jumpstart, which entailed a patrol unit swinging by. We couldn't leave the post. Line workers wouod grouse and whine at the wait, flight didn't. One three-stripe (first officer, right-seater), a very attractive woman in her 30s, fell asleep in the corner of tye guard shack, leaving me with the problem of HTF to wake her up without scaring the daylights out of her. I ended up shaking her foot so I was as far away as possible when she woke.
There's another Tiktoker that does pranks that summed it up the best. A good Prank does not involve damaging another person's property, or hurting yourself or someone else physically or mentally. It's just something stupid that you and your friends do to grab attention, get people to laugh, and maybe you end up breaking a 5 dollar plastic object that you bought for the purpose of the prank. One it involves damaging another person or their property, it's no longer a prank. It's assault or vandalism.

Bowling lanes are WICKED expensive and surprisingly fragile machines, with tons of systems working in tandem that can be disrupted by _ambient dust and humidity._ And getting even THAT routinely serviced is a good few hundred dollars, PER HOUR. The sheer mechanical torture those machines must have suffered at the hands of a VERY fibrous, EXTREMELY moist, fragile pumpkin going into a system that requires vacuum suction to grab and hold standing pins (which moisture will disrupt), has a ball return system that is sized pretty much perfectly for bowling balls and is a solid train of conveyer belts with very little guarding on their KEY GEARS since they're away from people unless they're being serviced, and which routinely subjects balls to pressures that can crack femurs for brief moments, the sheer suffering THOSE machines suffered and the poor poor techie who had to make BANK scrubbing Every. Last. Strand. Out of JUST the ball return makes my mechanically-inclined heart bleed in righteous anger. May this wench be dragged over the coals for every cent the bowling alley HAS ALREADY HAD TO PAY in recompense for HER, EXPLICITLY HER, AND ONLY HER ACTIONS, IN FLAGRANT DISREGARD FOR THE POSTED RULES OF THE ESTABLISHMENT. Having spent 20+ years as a mechanic in bowling centers, I KNOW how long it takes to clean the machines, and would have GLADLY physically thrown ALL of them out the door. AND I would NOT have been alone, as many of the other customers would have joined me. Not to mention several other workers! We RARELY had to rely on "security" to help.

@@octosquid48 Normal, routine cleaning takes about 45 per machine. If we had to clean pumpkin guts out from under them as well as in the machine, add about another hour and a half. Heck, cleaning up a broken flourescent bulb takes 2 hours per machine and usually includes having to clean machines on either side as well.

A couple of years ago someone did this exact same thing in a bowling alley near me. They had to completely close down for several weeks as they had to completely dismantle the machinery to get all of the pumpkin bits and juices out. They also had to call an extermination company as the rotting pumpkin attracted insects and rats. I hear the moron had to pay the business upwards of £80k for the loss in revenue, fines and costs.

Hey, I’m a pinchaser which means I work behind bowling lanes, the best case scenario is we shut down the lane for about a minute to get the pumpkin out. Worst case is the pumpkin breaks in the ball lift and ruins not only the lane but the one next to it as well as they share ball returns. Maintenance to restore the lanes would take a full day not counting ordering parts if needed. Also those machines are around $20,000 each for professional quality.
Not gonna lie that's cheaper than I expected. For some reason I always assumed the whole facility used one machine worth roughly 250k.

I run a security company and I tell my guys, if they don't respect you, you don't respect them. We back our people 100% (unless obviously they throw hands or something and it's completely unwarranted, luckily has not happened yet) All I can say is we've built a great reputation of being able to successfully deal with these cockroaches. We have an internal weekly competition as well, $1000 to the person who ruins the most tiktoks.

Security aren't cops so him fighting back could go to court and a public jury would decide if he was in the right... you would hope that the public saw equality and allow him to fight back, but there is a heavy stigma against males striking females even if hit first... plus his size would breed an argument that he "could take it" or "wasn't in danger."

As a security guard, I confirm that people do anything to test your patience. Some people during a Halloween fest I worked at kept walking by me and screaming at me to see if I flinched. A group of people lied to me and another officer on a group of teens and fled during the investigation. At a nightclub, drunk women would think that because they're pretty they can get into a club without a pass. One girl I remember would not let anyone touch her bag in a bag check line, and when I grabbed it for inspection she filed a s*xual harassment claim against me. Thankfully it was found not guilty and she was kicked out
But yeah security guards have hard jobs because the customers want one thing but management wants another so any small mistake could risk your career.

I was a guard a long, long time ago. The money was minimum wage, we had to get the issued uniforms dry-cleaned per a schedule, at our expense, over our days off. Supervisors were okay, and there was decent understanding with the armed guards and various bus drivers.
It was actually at FedEx, and the group that always gave us crap were the loaders.
The best group? The aircrew. If someone came up in a flight uniform, pilot or flight engineer (still had them back then) they were polite, and usually needed their car to get a quick jumpstart, which entailed a patrol unit swinging by. We couldn't leave the post. Line workers wouod grouse and whine at the wait, flight didn't. One three-stripe (first officer, right-seater), a very attractive woman in her 30s, fell asleep in the corner of tye guard shack, leaving me with the problem of HTF to wake her up without scaring the daylights out of her. I ended up shaking her foot so I was as far away as possible when she woke.
There's another Tiktoker that does pranks that summed it up the best. A good Prank does not involve damaging another person's property, or hurting yourself or someone else physically or mentally. It's just something stupid that you and your friends do to grab attention, get people to laugh, and maybe you end up breaking a 5 dollar plastic object that you bought for the purpose of the prank.

I was a security guard and had to pit up with her types.
Bowling lanes are WICKED expensive and surprisingly fragile machines, with tons of systems working in tandem that can be disrupted by _ambient dust and humidity._ And getting even THAT routinely serviced is a good few hundred dollars, PER HOUR. The sheer mechanical torture those machines must have suffered at the hands of a VERY fibrous, EXTREMELY moist, fragile pumpkin going into a system that requires vacuum suction to grab and hold standing pins (which moisture will disrupt), has a ball return system that is sized pretty much perfectly for bowling balls and is a solid train of conveyer belts with very little guarding on their KEY GEARS since they're away from people unless they're being serviced, and which routinely subjects balls to pressures that can crack femurs for brief moments, the sheer suffering THOSE machines suffered and the poor poor techie who had to make BANK scrubbing Every. Last. Strand. Out of JUST the ball return makes my mechanically-inclined heart bleed in righteous anger. May this wench be dragged over the coals for every cent the bowling alley HAS ALREADY HAD TO PAY in recompense for HER, EXPLICITLY HER, AND ONLY HER ACTIONS, IN FLAGRANT DISREGARD FOR THE POSTED RULES OF THE ESTABLISHMENT.
