    I bought a kensington slimblade about 15 years ago. I remember the day it stopped working and I freaked out trying to buy a new one, the exact same one because it was home to me. Well, I reached out to kensington and told them it stopped working. They just sent me a brand new one for free. Years outside of warranty. I'm using that mouse right now to this day. Even after I redid my entire desk with zero cables, I still let it be the one cable on my desk. going to uprade to the bluetooth version soon. Considered the big boy though with the 400 DPI, but I don't feel like changing what I know I love.

    Trackball mouse are pretty much standard in recording studios as well. If you visit any big recording studio, they are most likely using a trackball mouse, as it makes is super easy to move around your daw (most likely pro tools) without moving your hand with a regular mouse. But realistically, if you are doing editing, graphics design or anything related to digital art/media production, you'd be better off using a pen tablet and will be thanking yourself for saving your wrist in the future. (it's what most people use in the post-production world, and basically standard in every VFX studio)

    Trackball enjoyer and owner of Orbit Wireless, Expert Wireless and a couple others. I recommend playing around with the “Enhance Pointer Precision” option in mouse options, although I don’t use it myself, it’ll enable acceleration (something you don’t want for your regular mouse. My Expert is at Sensitivity 11 and Orbit at 9. Both at 400 dpi. The Orbit has a button underneath to change the dpi from 400-1600, but it’s too fast for my taste. Also another tip: the software allows you to bind an action to 2 simultaneous button presses. I do NOT recommend setting any simultaneous action on the primary buttons, as it’ll make them pretty laggy. Anyway, enjoy!

    Mouse is specific to humans, trackballs are universe standard. Anyone can use them, with hands, claws, tentacles, mind power, etc.

    I had a thumb trackball growing up instead of a mouse, my dad got it for me because I didn't have a very big desk.
    I don't think I'd go back but it's definitely fun to think about !! :D

    400 dpi??? lord almighty, I got like 7200 just to move across my 3 monitors at a decent speed. but nice ball though, can't almost ever go wrong with balls

      actually it's one flick now with rawaccel, since it can multiply the sensitivity by a number you like

    Some autocad experts love trackballs since they like that they can be a little more precise. I would consider using one as a left-hand mouse though if i needed to give my right hand a break.

    I've been using a trackball now at least 5 year. I use it for regular use and gaming--including 3rd and 1st person shooters. I used to have major problem with ganglion cysts from playing drums and using a standard mouse. Now the pain and the problem has completely gone away.

    Picked up a trackball earlier today, still getting the hang of it. Not sure I'll be as accurate and precise as I was with old mice. Had a razer mamba then mx master then mx vertical.
    Planned to mount my keyboard to my chair and it was a trackball or trackpad. Chose trackballs because it has scroll and a unique gimmick

    • @marukudeibu
      @marukudeibu  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you'll probably get used to it within a few days or weeks, depending on how high your sensitivity is because i found it was easier for me to get the hang of it when i had a lower sensitivity.

    Gotta try an elecom huge, it's the closest thing to the microsoft explorer trackball. All the benefits of the pointer and index trackball of the kensington style (plus adjustable sensitivity) along with a thumb cluster that is just amazing. You should also consider setting up marble scroll, it really makes trackballs feel awesome.

    trackballs need to become touch-sensitive, so I can tap on the ball itself.

    I'd be super sad if the trackball market dried up entirely, because I found I'm dramatically more accurate with a trackball than with a mouse. On top of that, moving a mouse for several hours every day hurts my arm and elbow something fierce, and the only alternatives in that realm are those stupid upright mice that never have gaming-quality sensors or polling rate and look dorky. I'll be using my GameBall and my Elecom Deft Pro for as long as I possibly can, though I might look at getting something by Ploopy in the future; apparently BTU bearings are smooth as butter, albeit a tiny bit noisy.

    Best to just use the track ball for work and browsing then switch to a gaming mouse when you need to game instead of trackball for everything.

    1. I'll watch this content
    2. Did you try Kensington's software? You can control a lot of settings there.
    3. These aren't going anywhere but there is definitely an ergonomic focus. I think Elecom & Kensington must dominate the (small) market.
    4. (Other comment) Not sure if TH-cam video editors are relatively few or if weebs all hang out in the same space but cool unexpected crossover.

    • @marukudeibu
      @marukudeibu  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes i tried the kensington software, though it's almost the same as the windows option as it just changes that thing as well, it was decent but i found that rawaccel better solved my problem by both having the slow and fast tracking at the same time. so for instance, 1 fast flick of the ball will take me all the way to my second monitor, and slow ball movements are just the normal dpi so that it's not hard to make micro adjustments.

    thumb trackballs exist and are far better. for example, Logitech M570, Elecom EX-G. they are far closer to a traditional mouse

    Hello po, I'm a little confused on which one to get. As someone who uses Adobe programs for editing/clipping paths. Which is better? The Slimblade, or the Expert? Thanks!

    • @marukudeibu
      @marukudeibu  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      For me, I chose the Expert because of its better buttons, and scroll ring. Keep in mind as well that the Expert only has 400 DPI while the Slimblade has more DPI options. If this is a downside, I found that using mouse acceleration fixes this problem for me (I made a video about this on my channel). Lastly ergonomics, both are great but I found that the Slimblade was a bit lacking in terms of comfort as I didn't know where to place my hand while the Expert has a bit of a learning curve with its angled position.

      @ellamarquez2714 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@marukudeibu thanks for your insights! I feel like the Expert mouse is more ergonomically designed. But isn't it out of date compared to slimblade?

    • @marukudeibu
      @marukudeibu  24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Spec wise, yes it's a bit outdated but so far after 3 months of usage, I haven't had the need of changing the battery of the Expert wireless while the Slimblade wireless, though its newer with it's rechargeable battery, I ran into more of tracking issues with it as for some unknown reason it gets disconnected for a few seconds while on wireless mode, and on other occasions, it takes a few seconds to turn on again after being on sleep mode (not using it for a while). For performance, both are smooth for tracking and I didn't see any noticeable lag behind the Expert. And if you're worried about wireless issues and don't bother a cable, I recommend getting the wired versions.
