    I don't understand of why all the hate about the replaceable battery. It's great folks, trust me on this. Get 2 rechargeable AA battery and you practically have unlimited battery life. No more being tethered to a cable when you're low on battery, just plug a new battery in and charge the other one and you're good to go. And weight wise, i mean come on. 75g with AAA battery is good. You won't notice much going below 80g. And even if you do, i think that having a small weight compromise for unlimited battery life is still a good tradeoff.

    Honestly the removable battery is better, you can have one in mouse and second ready charged on standby -> 5 second recharge and when it eventually goes bad, you can just change the battery and not the whole mouse. I don't honestly really understand non removable Lion batteries in apliances.

    • @sp3edy787
      @sp3edy787 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CortyCze hot swappable batteries are great in theory but there is an obvious tradeoff required in order to facilitate a way to mount the battery such that will impact the overall design. Maybe that's a worthwhile tradeoff for the right use case but the battery life for internal batteries are so bonkers these days that charging is a complete non issue. My pro X superlight will turn the status light red under 20% charge which if I see that is a sign I need to plug it in. Eventually, because thats still over 10hrs left so I just do that when I'm finished my current session and turning off. I've never had it run out of charge while using it and the tradeoffs to weight and such aren't remotely worth it to me for a problem that isn't really a big problem anymore. Yes it's somewhat harder to repair when that battery eventually starts to die but it's still doable with some simple diy. If plugging devices in to charge is that inconvenient try getting one of those usb cables with a detachable magnetic tip. It stays in the device which you then move within the general vicinity of the cable end and tada it's plugged in and charging.

      My headphones (Arctis Nova Pro Wireless) may be overpriced and kinda meh in general, but the removable battery makes them simply superior to every other wireless headset I've used. When the battery runs out, it's a 3-4 second replacement and I have a fully charged battery again, instead of having to wait 30 minutes or more for it to charge. I would like the convenience of wireless mice and keyboards, but I won't make the switch until there's replaceable lithium batteries in everything.

    • @8lec_R
      @8lec_R หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Ummm newsflash... You can make a repairable mouse with an internal battery. Sure it'll be harder to open but I'd rather open my mouse once every 2 years to replace the battery rather than use something that is 30g heavier everyday everytime I need to move my mouse.
      Oh btw I bought attack shark x3 for 18 bucks. I could have bought 2 for less than 40 bucks to swap between when one dies. Also, battery lasts so long that I have only charged it once in 2 months lol.
      Repairability doesn't mean shit can't get better and smaller. It means that devices should not make it hard to repair on purpose. Internal batteries aren't bad. Having no screws or hiding them under mouse feet is anti-repair
      Also the amount of waste with disposable batteries is higher.

      Simply becayse they make the mouse way heavier, which is annoying to most people. Even just for day to day use.
      It's also less convenient and expensive since you'd have to keep buying batteries over and over or you'd have to invest in quality rechargeable batteries + recharging station which quickly add up to the cost of the mouse. You could make the point of getting cheap rechargable batteries, but then you'd be back at swapping them every few months regardless since rechargable batteries don't last forever either, if having less waste was a concern you'd go with a wired mice which would last you until one of the switches die.

I would never use a powerplay mousepad, since I use a huge mousepad for better accuracy. I also don't really feel like they need to do a lot to update it, but considering that the most popular mod is to use a triple A battery, just that alone and maybe other weight reductions would have been plenty to make fans happy. Swappable batteries are still great for gaming, since you can hotswap them rather than being screwed if you forgot to charge your mouse, and the g305 does last for weeks/months of gaming without needing a new battery, at least for me.

Nicely heavy, no board flex, feels solid in the hands and absolutely rock solid sitting on the desk. If you're looking for budget gaming peripheral brands to check out, they should be on your short list. I originally bought this thing for work because I needed a new keyboard and wanted something "good enough" for office use, and it has since replaced my more expensive keyboard I had for my main rig. No need to charge your mouse as well. Battery running low? Pop in a new battery and you're good to go. If you still want rechargeable batteries, there are rechargeable AA or AAA batteries. But, get this, it's *your* choice!

    Either you get a mouse with a AA/AAA cell slot, or you get an non user replaceable battery entombed within it, that will eventually e-waste the whole mouse, bc trying to change it has great chances of going wrong (yay flat cables).
    There's no convincing argument to explain why there's no slot/cover to easily reach the battery on any and all modern devices that use them, besides just Planned Obsolescence.

      Agreed. And there are a lot of replaceable li-ion batteries, the issue is that the voltage is different from alkaline "AA/AAA" batteries. Allowing for an option of a different voltage does not add much cost. But no, either single-use cell or non-replacable pouch.

      Flat cables? Are you living under a rock? Every single wireless mouse now has a really simple battery with a connector with normal round wires. Changing a mouse battery is a matter of unscrewing 4 screws, disconnecting the old one and plugging the new one. And you should do this once every 2-3 years. If people are not willing to put 15 minutes of work every couple of years, maybe it's better if they stick to the awful 80 plus grams wired mice. Stay obsolete

    • @periclescosta2068
      @periclescosta2068 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@LSSMIRAK any mouse with the DPI button and/or others on top's got one, in some models there are even others connecting components on the PCB, also, that you gotta be really observant of during disassembly; although some are now coming with normal wires, that are more manageable.
      Still, 99% of the time, the screws are behind the feet and the info tag. GL and HF taking these off without deforming the feet/tag and dealing with the adhesive losing grip afterwards. And the shell's usually clamped together, requiring a screwdriver to pry open, inevitably denting the plastic. So the point is, you can hardly hope not to damage your property in order to do basic stuff like this.
      If weight's not relevant, I can just pop a 2.600 mAh Eneloop AA on a mouse that, if needed be, can just be swapped with any chinesium alkaline cell, that's sold wherever, in 10 seconds, and that's after ~6 months of daily use (w/o RGB) on a single charge. While when a "super premium" mouse's Li-Ion cell - that at most packs ~900 mAh - goes bad/loses charge, you either gotta go wired from several hours to forever, or try your luck on a specialist battery site (or shady eBay/AliExpress stores) to try to get one with the same make and model, and do the lengthy replacement process. So if something as trivial as a slotted lid can be done with AA/AAA cells, why can't it be the same with Li-Ion cells?

    The powerplay pad is excellent tech. It doesn't actually need to cover all the mousing area, just the area that is used the bulk of the time - it can just be extended with something to match the height.
    However... it does only cost about $5 to make, or could cost that if they cared to cost optimise it. You can't buy a sensor+lens for that price, not even the very mediocre ones. It's clearly designed to be a high margin, low volume product, not a mass market one.
    G3 is not an OEM moonlighting Logitech's stuff, it's just a completely different mouse built to the same overall shape. Logitech can't stop it from being sold and bought, but they will stop it from going to retail in most of the world. You should also not cover it with too much praise without trying, including wireless packet loss issues.
    But i also doubt g305 is going away to be replaced by g309. People still put stock into Logitech's brand name and their retail access gives them a massive advantage. They can't just exit the 40-50€ price bracket in retail, because people won't be ready to spend anywhere near 90€ on a mouse, they'll just buy random competitor retail mice instead.
    I like the changes to the g309 but this is not an adequate price for a mouse powered by an AA battery.

    I don't like that uniform shape (which really is just based on IntelliMouse Optical 1.1...) all the mice go for in recent times. While I'm one of those annoying G9 people, I'm currently running Razer Cobra and Viper Mini. I like the click latency, weight, price, but the shape is far from comfortable. I'm just forcing myself to use it despite, because of how aimbotty the click latency makes it. I actually had, but returned Endgame Gear OP1 8K, which is again that uniform shape, but while the mouse was superbly snappy, had decent skates (much better than Razer), the raised cable actually worked, and was just superior in performance... the shape was hindering me (also 8000Hz wasn't really working in anything). When it comes to simple symmetric mice I've tried, I certainly liked G102/203/Pro (and so I would assume G305 too) more than other shapes, with clearly that side walls being the key. Razer Abyssus felt ok, but those walls made me pick Logitechs each time when comparing those 2 and similar mice. So I would gladly welcome a new high performance G102/305 variant, especially if it would improve on click latency.
    I'm not sure about the conspiracy theories, but Logitech has long history of actually not giving customers what they want. It started with Pilot, then MX300/G1 and the shape transition G100/100s which I guess led to G102/305. Users of MX310 were completely forgotten, although arguably there werent that many (it was a decent shape though). G303 only came back a bit different in an expensive variant thanks to Shroud, and there are heaps of people asking for replacement of G9 still (I guess they roughly based G600/Razer Naga on it, but its too different). The only shape that was able to hold it for an extensive amount of time was MX500/510/518/700/G5, although even in that case there were a few MouseMan Dual Optical users asking to get their "superior" variant back. So Logitech canning G102/203/305/Pro shape isn't really something surprising, even though not refreshing that line feels like a waste of sales/lose of market. That said it could be also argued, that the change was made due to Logitech's perceived demand based on G Pro x Superlight, and the hundreds of copycats.
    This is a bit weird if you consider that their competitor was saved and rose to prominence by using shapes which gamers actually asked for - primary Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 which Razer DeathAdder was based on (and the failed Microsoft Habu, as DeadAdder and Habu were cooperation mice).

    Seems like they weren't intending to make a G305 replacement, similar to other offering with vaguely familiar number schemes. People should hope for like, a G305S or something.

    Why didn't they used a AAA battery? Anyway it doesn't matter much to me since I can't use them I click the mouse side buttons a lot as they stand out, at least they used to with the 305, so I swapped for the g502, if I knew there was mods for them I would have given it the proper test, maybe a design with a hump on the side buttons like the g502

    one thing i do like is AA batteries, they last so long, but I'm not too concerned about it being light weight which they aren't.

    Dunno what went wrong there, i just needed a mouse with a few extra buttons for extra productivity, but in 10 years Logi has not been able to produce a mouse for a normal hand, i swear they all feel like a used up soap bar.

    I've been a fan of Roccat products for a long time, but they're now part of Turtle Beach, so we'll see how long that lasts. They already released a worse in parts version of the Kone Pro (wired) under them right after and the quality's gone down since that anyway, so hmmm.

    Watched a few of vids during my research on HE KBs and was wondering if you give DrunkDeer A75 Pro a try ? Price wise to the Non-Pro version is miniscule by the looks of it

    I have been using mostly Logitech mice and some keyboards for many years. I have encountered quality issues in the last two Logitech products I’ve purchased. I have two G603’s I love, one of them had the scroll wheel fail. I’ve had probably 4 K400 keyboards over the years, my most recent one, the trackpad and mouse buttons are junk. Last year or the year before I discovered my perfect mouse, the Corsair Sabre Pro. Although, I had quality issues with that too. But I fixed it, and bought two more refurbs for super cheap. Also got an EVGA mouse that’s really good for $17. An amazing value. I have a drawer full of 20 years worth of gaming mice 😆 my OG Logitech still works 😳

    As a fanboy since the MX300, through the g102, g1, g203 and g305, I was really looking forward to a lighter-weight egg-shaped mouse with newer tech. Instead I was rewarded for my patience with the death of my favourite product line.

    I know this is cringe, but I really do like the "gaming" style mice. Not because I care about the style (I really wish I could completely turn off the stupid LED's in my current mouse rather than just change the color it "breathes" in at all times), but because "gaming" style mice are _bigger._ I used the teal progenitor to the g305, and still do as a backup/ garage PC mouse, and it's _fine,_ but for any extended use sessions it's just too small for me and my hand starts to cramp up. I use a flat grip (claw grip, again, cramps my hand), and I _require_ that big, bulky frame and a place to rest my pinky that gaming mice typically have. I really wish a company like Logitech would produce a mouse that was nice and big, but without all the Transformers style shit and glowing LED's sticking out all over the place.

    If they just shut up and pretend it's a wrongly dated April fools prank and never mention it again, they might get out of it again.
