Well said! We don’t need to impress other people with things! One of my friends told me that it’s amazing how we can filter our fake friends by their attitude towards the things we have or don’t have. True friends will never look down upon you and judge you by what you have or not, it’s the fake ones who will.
I don't accept or not accept someone based on their material possesions. But I find it sad that people judge me or others based on what they own or don't own. I buy what I like. I happen to like designer handbags. I don't buy bags with the logo all over but one that is discreet is fine. I just love a well made stylish handbag. I get a lot of grief from people about the bags I buy. I don't understand as I'm frugal in many areas of my life. I live in a small home, drive a small non luxury SUV. I have no debt. If you are trying to get people to like you by buying things than they will never be your true friends.

You need some degree of acceptance from others and into society to even be “employable,” unfortunately. I’m in the uncanny autism valley where I have it but in such a way people know something is off, and it seriously affects me, but they don’t ping it as autism so it gets written off as a personality flaw even after I disclose that information. As a result, despite my BA, I earn less than 10k/year. If I told myself I didn’t deserve to be treated badly, I would earn less than $700/ year instead. Been there, tried that, works out badly for people with nonverbal communication problems.
Agreed on everything, but...the "place yourself under them " doesn't exist. Whether u'll be treated like a slave or want that in a masochistic sense, it won't bring positiveness. Service will, but in a discreet yet affirmative& assertive manner. With the wrong mindset u'll easily become the prey of a narcistic pervert or whatever. Overall one cannot be lower or higher than any other human being. However tempting that thought may be.
Hitler and Gandhi were both human beings. Study the respect Imelda Marcos and Maya Angelou received and why. Let's all stay equal and different.
I was about to say I don’t have enough money to try to impress people with stuff but on second thought I’m pretty proud of my Audi and Michael Kors purse and my plan to meet people is to look like someone they like. Good points and food for thought
