Hope this helps for those of you looking for a gaming laptop! I forgot to mention battery life but for gaming laptops its not important they all suck. However, in 2020 we are starting to see some gaming laptops with massive batteries. Hit me up on instagra.com/mattmoniz123 or discord.gg/mattmoniz if you have any questions!

Carlos Farias If it can lift the heavy, it can lift the light! Though if you don’t game much, there are other options that are lighter and have longer battery. But honestly, if you don’t mind a little extra weight, this laptop is going to be soooo much better of a value for your money than any thin and light.

      Kentolope I’m flattered you’d ask me 😅
I bought my brother the ASUS TUF with a 1050 and ryzen 7. It’s his first gaming laptop so we got him the most basic one, but for his needs, it was more than capable. So one with a 1660ti, i believe that Mr. Moniz recommended one with the same specs. That should be a more than capable laptop for even a gamer that plays some demanding games :D

Very great tutorial, i think you didnt forget anything. I juste have one question, what are you thinking about the MSI PS63, i7-8565u, gtx 1050-Ti, 8gb of ram. I got this one for 1k (thats my max budget)
I was needed a laptot that i can put in my bag to go college so not heavy (less 2kg) great battery life to keep it on for all day, and in a small package so. The MSI is the one i found. I'am not a heavy gamer, basicly playing LoL and maybe Monster Hunter.

Alejandro Mendoza what are you planning to use it for?
Most people are better off with a PC they can truly upgrade, such as an iBuyPower or CyberPower prebuilt or one they build themselves, and then a thin-and-light for the road. With a thin-and-light, you can stream your games from home or a streaming service and you don’t have to haul the power with you, not to mention that you don’t pay the premium for fitting powerful components into a laptop. A $1,000 desktop and $250 laptop are a better bet than a $2,000 laptop for all-around use if you buy the right ones.

Liked this. Just wanted to say that I went with the Y540 with the gtx 1650 instead of a 1660ti because of thermals and sound. Yes, I game mostly on my laptop, but I don't always wear headphones while I do so, nor do I want all my internals to be hot. With the extra money I didn't spend on the the gpu upgrade the single 8 gb RAM module to 2x16GB modules. I'll still get a consistent 60fps on most games I play, medium setting.

I know that my RTX 2060 max q actually does decently well (40-70fps depending on the game) with ray tracing as long as DLSS is on, and literally every other RTX card is better than it so... as long as you get any RTX card you should be good for ray tracing.

I have the Asus Zephyrus G14, so not quite the same computer but similar to the Zephyrus M, and yeah, ray tracing is SUPER demanding. My computer gets to around 80-85c on the cpu, and around 75c on the GPU when running super demanding ray tracing things. Surprisingly, Minecraft RTX is actually one of those demanding ones where I only get around 40fps(also Minecraft PTGI gets about 45fps, but that’s different, not RTX). However I get about 70fps on Deliver us the Moon. So yeah. Also I didn’t undervolt, as I’m not sure how to do that with the Ryzen processor. Anyways, hope that helps at least a little!
Edit - Wanted to clarify Deliver us the Moon with RTX on, not with it off, haha

@@connorrauscher7906 A 65w 2060 pushing 70fps on DUTM sounds impressive! AMD really stepped up their game these couple of years.
I was new to undervolting so I bricked my laptop in the process, it went into a BSOD loop and they had to change my mobo, fortunately ryzen does a better job at thermals; it's mostly the CPUs that throttle, I just use a cooling pad now, haha

Oh geez, sorry to hear about bricking it, glad you got it fixed! But yeah CPUs definitely get warm, but it’s also amazing how powerful computer components are nowadays in laptops. Crazy stuff! And cooling pads always help :)

Al nice and dandy but...what I really would like to see is a review on tech support, and quality of service of the various brands. We are dumping loads on bling bling on these things but when there’s a problem I see all kind of mixed hellish experiences when trying to get a repair during warranty or ourside.

Looking to get my first gaming laptop dont need anything crazy would like to play games at decent high setting. I want a Helios but not sure if I should go with the one with i5 8gb ram and 512gb storage or is it worth pay a extra few hundred bucks for the i7 16bg ram and 256gb storage. I can upgrade the ram on my own so is it worth getting the i7 with less storage and more ram or will the i5 do me just fine. Thanks for the help

the chassis also is one thing one should take into consideration many brands claim to have an all aluminium build but the metal used is soo thin that the laptop cant take its own weight and can bend while picking up from the corners (the dell g7 15)
also that the keyboard should have n-key roll over

What’s the best gaming laptop in the $800-$1200 range that has best battery life? I know the upcoming Asus TUF A15/17 will have nice battery life but it seems the display panel will be really weak. Any good laptops or upcoming laptops where I can or will be able to get at least a 3-4 hour gaming session?
