of the 2024 devices, which is your favourite so far?
my pick is the g16
Mine is Acer Predator Helio Neo 16, like it's perfect in budget and is pretty clean looking as well!
2017 Intel MacBook pro
Probably Razer Blade 18. I just like big portable machines 😂.
@dave2D
Can I please have one of your laptop. I live in Ghana, I want to start learning programming, to be specific web and software development but I can’t afford to get a laptop to begin with. 😢😢 being following you for a while now
Same here. G16 2024.❤
To whoever that needs to hear this: You don't need to buy a new laptop.
I do! Mine is from 2017 :(
You don't need to buy current gen laptop. Last gen laptop would suffice for most of your gaming need. People tend to not have an idea what they want from the laptop gaming.
My laptop can't run most games that I want to play, I think this would be a good savings goal for me
Thanks! For real, thanks.
Nope. You're wrong. I *need* to buy a new laptop since the one I'm using is over 6 years old, runs maximum 5 seconds off of the battery and partialy held together by ducttape. I appreciate the sentiment but no... it is time.

i suppose dave didn't put MSI in this review as they are mainly chip drop ins
The stacks of the laptops is such a flex
They're review samples. He doesn't own them.

Me wondering why Dave hasn’t dropped many gaming laptop videos this year so far.
Dave: So here’s a video on every gaming laptop
And here we wondering when you releasing new G14/G16 reviews🤔🫣.
Thank you
haha i was thinking the same.
2:33 I just LOVE how each CPU is characterized as their own helldivers 2 character, they all look so unique yet still equally capable and powerful in their own right. Awesome
0:42 that effect was sick
@Umar_Akmal_PAK96I don't think I've even heard of either those bud 😂 thanks to your comment, I don't think I'll ever be interested
@Umar_Akmal_PAK96 ??? How is that related to the comment and the video?? Wake up
yeah i wonder how he did it

I got the Lenovo Legion pro 7i that came out last year. 150-175 watts on the RTX 4080 with dynamic boost, 13th Gen i9 HX, 240 hz, 32gb ram... thing is a beast. Build quality is awesome, love the typing experience. I travel to a new city every 2 weeks or so with my job so I needed something semi-tanky. I create music with FL studio, Edit Video with Sony Vegas, Play games like Valorant/Overwatch, Elden Ring, Witcher, and Modded Skyrim. Researched for 2 months to make the right choice and after a year+ of use, I'm still in love.
Is it still on sale today?
Nice bruh, how much it cost?
Way too expensive.
what about battery life
Ive had a couple legion devices, all had a weird bug where it goes into hibernation and im unable to wake it without hard powering off, u experience this?
people with 1000$ budget can avoid this video
Can you recommend anything specific?
We are listening to you: which laptop should we get ?
Of course they have to. The more power/quality you want, the more you have to pay.
He does say at the end, the best value is to buy older models at sale price.
Any good recommendations under $1200 ???
4:47 Watched so many tech videos, this is the first time i see this kind of edit, truely amazing Dave!
That's a standard dissolve. come on.
thank you SO MUCH for making such a clear and noob-friendly video about all the wattage nonsense (to me) and comparisons! As a gamer from the 80's, I'm so behind on all of these spec numbers. You're awesome.
You can partly lay the blame on Nvidia for artificially limiting their GPUs based on the TGP. Heck, even the maximum TGP can be misleading becoz the performance was usually maxxed out around 100 watt for the 4050 to 4070 line.
8:34 You could have made an easy video that would basically say nothing but get views, but you didn't. Mad respect for respecting the viewers time. I can't think of a single content creator that does it this well. Thank you.
This was very informative! Really like the format of just doing a brief overview of all the main brands since there is mainly just iterative updates every year now. And when there is something actually new and worth talking about, that could have a more in depth look and video. Definitely will be looking back to this, since im in the market for a new laptop myself. Great as always dave.
Man Dave makes the cleanest videoes. So many super smooth edits and a great flow overall to the video.
2:53 , very creative with the helldivers analogy 😂.
It was so beautifully done, I had to rewind 😅😅
Ok but I missed your outro phrase, thanks for bringing it back!
Dave is going through some weird hair phases now. First it was common Asian dads. Then it was the long John's. And now it's the dye era. Pretty sure it'll be RGB soon. Must be tough coming into his 50s.
Yeh, he’ll have a cyberpunk cut soon with one side dyed turquoise light blue
the long hair was dope
@@mikivli I like this hair better
My Asian auntie had the same red hair dye in her late 40s.
Age.
Watching this on my G16 2024! I wanted a 16" gaming laptop that is also thin and light enough for use for school (Engineering), and this one, although expensive, fit my needs the best. Was also considering the Legion, but picked this one due to the Core Ultra chip providing better battery life.
What is the battery life for normal school use? (Occasional video, pdf-scrolling etc)
What is so weird is why can't you get 2023 gaming laptops for much cheaper than 2024? It's like the old ones do not go on sale.
Isnt it quite weird that the 3060 and 3070 laptops cant be found right now, especially the old legions, when the 3060 legions came out there were still the 1660 legions being sold by lenovo

_it's white so it's already winning, and then you pop it open and it's even more white and its winning even more... - Dave2D_
Racism
@@Xevos701 It's a great allegory. The white laptop isn't necessarily better than a black or silver laptop but just by virtue of its color it already gets some special treatment.
@@theviniso yeah he makes waaaay to many "it's white so it's better" jokes to not think he's at least a little racist.

@@giottoprimo-1 Eh, it could also be that he just really likes white devices. Let's give him the benefit of doubt until he actually mistreats someone.
The best gaming laptop is the one you can afford
Got a Razer last year, dead mother board 2 months after 1 year warranty. Cost almost as much as getting a new laptop. Super disappointed in the quality control. Should have looked through the forums before getting it. Apparently is a common issue for Razer laptop.
I’m literally watching this video cox my razor had a display cable broke and gotta buy a new one damn razor lacking
My razor has swelling battery and now the wifi doesnt work. Its been like five years so could be worse. Still it makes me worried for any of these laptops how are these thermals.
My Legion 5 Ryzen 7 5800H, 3070 130 watt bought for £800 last year still going strong 💪 - its a beast. Sales, sales, sales is the key
I've bought Legion 5 Pro 5800H/RTX3060 for about $3500 (not a typo) USD in March 2022 🌚
3500$??? Ha, got mine on sale for 4299$
Thanks for giving me an opinion on this year's laptops, Dave!
this is the exact vid i wanted from dave,
thanks a ton mate!!
i'm such a sucker for great editing. this video takes the cake!
Take the flag off.
The HP Omen 14 intrigues me the most, ngl. Always heard good things about this size config. from a college friend of mine who used to build PCs during his off-time and he told me how great these devices are because of their compact form and ability to play games surprisingly well so I might just pick one of these up, haha!
one of the best dave 2d videos in a while, i feel like dave is just so much better when he talks about laptop and accesories. dont get me wrong i also love the phone content as well.
5:12 - “Thinkpad keyboard on a gaming laptop”. Stop misleading people the keyboard is nothing like the thinkpad. The travel distance of keys is much lesser thank the Thinkpad and the material is different too ..
Those battery life numbers are the real ones. These reviews saying 6-16 hours of battery life are pure bs. I've tested 8 laptops and am lucky to make it past 3 hours of use on a charge
Thank you for a great video and the fantastic production quality.
I really like all the live camera switches without any cuts. Makes each segment feel cohesive and easy to follow
I am very satisfied with my Legion slim 5 14,5” Oled 7840hs with Rtx 4060.
I can play Warzone in silent mode 70/80 fps basic settings. For me besides performance being as silent as possible is a must for a gaming rig
The transition from split screen and full screen on Dave looks sick. Another good work of Dave's standard!
I miss the days when the G14 was around 1300USD...
It will be , 1700 dollar price tag is for top spec....the low spec model will be around 1400 to 1350 dollars for sure..its not released yet in my country...
Best buy currently selling the base spec G14 for 1350, just FYI!
@@HunterLionheart Aot ?
Damn, the long locks are gone. Back to short-haired Dave then.
finally
Man, can you make such videos on quarterly basis. Very useful
Ended up getting the legion 7i gen 9 direct from Lenovo in Eclipse Black color. Core i9-14900HX with RTX 4070, 32GB RAM for less than $1800 including sales tax and legion ultimate warranty is tough to beat.
Long time follower, first time poster...thanks for all the informative and amazing videos throughout the years! Always excited when I get a notification for a new upload!
Heyy pls make it for 2025 noww
Great video! Surprised the Legion Slim 5 14 was not mentioned… especially since it has an oled screen but cost a fraction of the Asus g14.
22:33 i got this laptop a year ago, built quality is atrocious, but for 900$ it is just the best in terms of performance
10:35 I mean, that technology maybe its peak tech for laptops, now in this next years... lets make wait to have it cheaper maybe! ...
4:49 "it's white. Its already winning" 💀
0:04 Dave gonna play a different AAA game for each laptop
I'm just imagining how much Swamp Gooch these will collect in the heatsink before they end up in my shop at some point 😅Awesome video man, editing is on point.
OMG it's you!!! 😲
Any recommendations about which laptops seem more "durable" or less likely to get issues please? Esp. between the Lenovo 5 or 7 VS the Asus G14 or 16 🙏
I love the helldivers loadout to show the CPUs nice touch
17:06 You forgot to mention the tron ring on the back is missing. Any alienware without it is a counterfeit
Nice vid, but where's the MSI lineup? Especially the titan...the gargantuan gaming beast?
lenovo slim 5 14: I exist... do i?
Yeah mind blown the Legion Slim 5 14 was not mentioned… especially since it has an oled screen but cost a fraction of the Asus g14.
your editing has lvled up substantially 👍
This is really informative and helpful. I like gaming but don't know the first thing about laptops, so having the big terms actually explained and also having what levels/generations are actually necessary/good vs. which ones are not actually important was really helpful
My guy, how about you tell us about your vlogging setup. It is bad ass!
Who all came here by seeing thumbnail
no shit Sherlock, how else would you get to a video
A++++ production 🔥 Dave crushed it
Damn that laptop disappearing bit was nice
Lenovo did the Legion Slim 16" with an AMD 8845HS and 4070 using that new form factor (the white one you showed, but not in white). They had a pretty good sale over Memorial Day weekend too. Really liked the carbon fiber on that first laptop you showed. Great overview of the different brands. Thanks!
This honestly made me feel better about ordering a 2023 model. Snagged an Acer Predator Triton 14 with a 4070 for $1249. Only gripe is stuck with 16GB of RAM, but everything else checked all the boxes at that prestige price.
Still rocking my legion pro 2021 model 😂

0:03 👀 that’s a lot of laptops
no MSI products. lol
Ugh, those Copilot keyboard buttons are so cringe, I can't even. I'm getting Cortana 2.0 vibes, but this time it's forced onto the hardware as well. Also no decent mid tier laptop for less than 2000$. Who is buying these devices and why?
Where are the tuf series of asus.
Bro they are straight up trash
Why didn't you mention the Asus Strix Scar 16? The mini-LED screen is incredible and it won't burn.
Got my 2024 G14 recently....So glad I didn't get the Razer, Omen or Alienware. The G14 has definitely exceeded my expectations. Truly an elegant laptop.
PLEASE DON’T BUY ASUS!!!
Why?
Just ordered a G14! Coming from an 8 year old Samsung Notebook Spin 7, this upgrade will feel monumental
10:36 You wrote blade 14 when I think you meanth 16. Also the new AW m16 has lost a ton of ports on the back; for the power drop I think they wanted to differentiate more the M from the X model to push people to buy the more expensive X one
A 24 minutes long Dave's video is a treat!!!
I got my legion 5 pro (4070ti, Ryz 9 69hx, 32gb ram, 2 Tb ssd) and 3 years of ADP refurbished for usd1400. never been happier with this priced purchase.
Keep this hairstyle Dave!! Looks much better than the long hair. Young, fresh and clean.
I found a ROG Strix laptop with an AMD 6800h, a 3060, and an excellent 1440p screen on clearance last summer for $525. It was top of the line in 2022, proving that your best bang for the buck is always one generation back. (Found in a clearance case at Walmart, of all places.)
I bought a 2023 Zephyrus m16 about 2 weeks before the 2024 models were announced. I'm sad I missed out on OLED, but on the other hand I was able to upgrade to 64 gigs of ram which is really nice
Shoutout to Lenovo LOQ 15/16 2023 and 2024. Bought the 2023 version (RTX 4060) 6 months ago and its such a price-to-performance beast.
no mention of lenovo legion pro 5, weird
I just went through the same YT ad 3 times and it was those 20s non Skippable ads 😑😑. Great video though.
Hello I appreciate the video but how come you didn't review any MSI laptops?
Great review just wish you would have talked more about the Razer 18 2024 and the different configurations etc
I have the X14 from two years ago. I love this thing. I got it because I saw your review of it. No regrets. My chip set is not as good as the ones from 2024, but it is still enough.
is it just me or Dave's 40% of focus is to place the things correct on the table rather than video... and 60% on the video...
Man where do you get those wallpapers they are so good
I remember in 2020 when AMD CPU’s were coming into their own in the laptop space but generally were configured with lower end GPUs. I’m happy that AMD is still competitive enough in 2025 to continue to hold ground with Intel❤.
I think I’ve left like 3 TH-cam comments ever in my life and this is by far the best editing I’ve ever seen from any TH-camr
