- After taking a 5 month vacation, weeks upon weeks waiting on my credentials to come in the mail I’m finally back out to sea. This go around I will be doing episode series, so you’ll get something new everytime . This is EP 1 , which is the first of many to come so stay tuned !

Hey! Can you make a video or just explaining the hours needed at sea to pick up rank from OS to AB to 3rd and 2nd mate? And love your content BTW it’s been extremely helpful

OS to AB is 12 months I believe but to become 3rd or 2nd mate you normally have to do an officer cadetship (I am doing one at the min), or you can go to college as an AB and do all the officer courses and exams.

@@ya3nkurog Hi mate, I am from Scotland UK and doing my training worldwide on oil tankers. You can't become a 3rd mate on a ship without doing officer training and exams on subjects like Navigation, rules of the road, ship stability, meteorology, and maritime law to name a few.

I’m about to go to the siu school but I have bills to pay at home like around $500 so can u tell me if I will be making money in the program
You won’t until you get assigned to a ship during training even then you get like 1k a month I believe

@@shawndelsmith2572 you have to pay your own flight . But they provide board, food, etc. make sure to save up at least 6 months worth of bull money and a little extra. Also money for a flight there and back when you have to return home
@Hate Committee after you complete SIU program you would be a B Book, you become a C Book if you go through those schools you’re talking about
Who wants to be a C book ? Worry about not getting a job after taking all those classes .. pay 5-10k outta pocket for them .. I mean 😅
