- Living on a Tug boat is in one of the coolest things I’ve done so far in my Merchant Seamen career. From working on cruise ships in Hawaii, to sailing around Korean and making stops in Japan. Working & living on a tug boat is completely different and cool in its own right. I was makin 80K a year with the bonus as an OS on tugboat for a dredging company doing mud scows waitin at the SIU hall now to try ships and get away from the tugs now.👍

Tugs is the way lol the work easy compared to what I was doing fam . Only 6 crew including myself & I’m the only one cooking because I’m ok with it , the guy are ok wit it so we good . Oh & the fried chicken recipe.. I might have to charge you fam idk 😂😂😂😂😂

Interesting to hear about the tug boats! So you said its 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off but is that for like a year long contract or how does that work?
That’s just the schedule I’m on tugs and my schedule is 3 on 3 off that’s your work schedule unless you get switched to another boat that has a different one

Fam you gone need more than your Twic.. you need to apply for your MMC .. also you need to take all of your basic courses , cpr, first aid, water survival .. I made a video on it .. check that video out and follow step by step

@@Tr3TV2022 When I was tugboatin, I did all 3 departments at one company and was deck, cooked and P.I.C.ed as a tankerman / AB. I actually enjoyed it.

If you're trying to go the Piney Point route it currently takes awhile to get started. I am gonna be at Piney Point next month however, it took over half a year to get to this point. You also have to be ready to pay for a good bit of things before you get to the school.
