Hey my friend, I watched your “What I make” vid and was looking at your earning statements. Under 401k you had 0 deductions. If you haven’t started a 401k by now, seriously consider talking with a financial planner. You could make million bucks over a career if you plan properly. Especially when you get older and discover how little you get from social security, if it’s even viable when you reach retirement age. Don’t mean to harp, just glad I had a 50 something talk to me about it when I was 20. It set me up fabulously for a early retirement. Safe Voyage!
Hey man any advice on what classes I should take prior to getting my first job as an OS that can give me a head start for a higher pay or to move up the ranks faster besides the officers courses? I understand I need sea time to meet certain ranks but I was wondering if there are any special classes that can give me that one step ahead appeal to employers? I actually should be receiving my MMC card in a couple days from now and then I will fly out to SD to take the STCW and VPDSD classes. Any advise will be great, thanks.
