Honestly they probably use the same intake from the 5.7 which is why the truck version has the throttle body on top vs. the front and he said the runners on the truck were "tuned" for a specific RPM range instead of being variable like the car versions.
@@TonyTheTruckGuy So i could use a 6.4 truck intake on a 5.7 charger without major modification?
@@thedankgentlemann I can’t say with certainty since I have not personally tried, but it may be worth researching to see if anyone else has done. R/T life did a 6.4 car intake on his 5.7 Hemi but he had to get like an MSD box to control the runners. The truck intake MIGHT bolt right up. Not sure what kind of gains would be had though. The 6.4 truck intake could be the same as the 5.7 for all we know haha.
Great stuff !!
How can you tell the difference between a srt 6.4 and a truck 6.4 like some one selling you a truck 6.4 as a srt 6.4
Hi marspeed my brother is buy an charger, he is considering between Dodge Charger scat pack and scat pack wide body , should he spent more 5995 $ for the widebody or just take an normal scatpack
The Widebody adds:
Widebody of course
Six piston front brembos (instead of four piston)
20x11 inch wheels (instead of 20x9)
Flat bottom steering wheel
Bilstein adaptive damping suspension
Is it worth it? For $6k yes it is. If you don’t care about that stuff then no, but if you end up paying for that stuff later it will cost much much more
@@MarspeedCars thx bro
Does the 6.4 require premium fuel?
Mds..ticking time bomb
Newer Ram trucks with the 6.4L from 2019 and up have the ZF 8-speed.
I have the zf8 in my stock 2016 1500? It's a tradesman. Does this suggest it was possibly selected as an option when purchased new?
This is why if u know your going to be pulling something the 6.7 Cummins is definitely the better & cheaper option
Are the truck 6.4L cast iron block?
Transmissions, 5.7 / 6.4 2500-3500 Only Had The 66RFE Option. The Aisin Was Only An Option For The 6.7 Cummins. The 6.7 Cummins Used A 68RFE Also. 68RFE Only Fits The 6.7 Diesel Same For Aisin.
Any recommendations for a 2017 RAM 2500 6.4L mechanical guide manual?
Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
6.1 hemi is the best
I have a pentastar v6 dodge durango and it has no upgrades and feels pretty snippy
I have the pentastar in my 2014 grand Cherokee and it is indeed pretty snippy
You two should try the factory lower manifold for the “Upgraded” Pentastars, my Dad and I swapped onto my 2012 with 3.6l along with MSD coil packs and it picked up a noticeable amount of power throughout the power band! Shocked the hell outta both Dad and myself when it felt stronger just easing away from the driveway, let alone won an open road where you can open it up.
@@GreenJeep1998 Very true! Did the same thing in my 300S except I used RIPP coil packs. Really woke up the performance across the power band. Very pleased!
@@aj_hlct6230 Those two mods and a RPM Motorsports resonator delete tube really woke up what wasn’t exactly a slow car to begin with. Fortunately, a couple weeks before those parts went on, we put better rear shocks and springs (dealer covered fronts under the extended warranty and were still good) as well as minivan rotors and calipers like your 300 has up front with matching stock size rear rotors and factory calipers with appropriately sized and matching semi-metallic pads all around. It’s like a different car with only a couple grand in parts and a few weekends of labor! Now Dad is talking about wanting to see if the rear brakes from his Grand Caravan would fit and hunting down better injectors to work with the E85 and a thicker, Avenger R/T and 200S rear sway bar to replace the bar that they put on the V6 Touring package cars like mine…….because if a noticeable improvement in go, whoa, and carving is good, even more is better, especially on something that almost looks like I bought it from a rental agency after it was retired 😅
Can you do a video on the 2003 Dodge Viper SRT 10 ?
You can add the grand wagoner to the list now
Quality content
I took the mds off in my 5.7 i feel like mds wears out the engine faster
What if dodge made a truck version of the hellcat engine? Would that he very wasteful?
They already did it! 2021 Ram 1500 TRX 💨
@@MarspeedCars no for like for heavy duty work like the truck version of the 6.4 hemi. Tuned for towing and not for performance - offroad or not
@@blackice7408 @Marspeed answer the question!
@@MarspeedCars There is no huge difference between the TRX version and the car version
@@blackice7408 They’ll probably never throw a hellcat motor in the 2500 or 3500. Thats what the diesels are for.
Challenger didn't come out till 2008 and was only the 6.1 2011 is first year for the 6.4
Could you do a video of the Viper v12 engine and the ram 2500 v12 engine?
They are V10's not V12's.
@@gasolinediesel972 well damn I'm dumb

Funny the hemi got the same firing order as chevy engine
What's the difference between the 392 and 392 scat pack
Nothing anymore, before it was a package that gave you bigger breaks ans adjustable suspension with wider tires, but that stopped after 2017 where you could get it on a scatpack
@@fknmonty Oh snap! You are going to set the SRT 392 crowd off! Blood will be spilled. Lol

Intake different with Shaker hood 🤔
Do 3.6 v6 pentastar its also in all dodge ..chrysler ..fiat . Models
I have a 2011 SRT8, & I would have thought it would be a great motor for a truck, then I drove 2018 ambulances powered by one.
/beavis “This sucks more than anything has ever sucked before.” /s
7 1/2 tons, it’s struggles at highway speed, can’t find a gear it likes, the cam shaft had to be replaced in one, another bus had to have the Donk completely replaced, not entirely sure what went tits up on that one.
The truck hemi is a lousy terrible no good very bad motor if you’re doing anything more than using your lorry as a grocery getter and taxi.
They didn’t have the challenge mr till 2008 I was Chrysler full line certified back then I know for a fact because I got the dealership that I worked for there allocation by selling enoigh lx plate form cars by the dead line ever dealership got 2 per dodge point that’s why there is only 2800 of the original 2009 so it wasn’t 2006 there was the srt caliber in 2007 and there was a srt crossfire and ram and 300 and charger grand Cherokee that was the five there went no challenger back then and by then caliber was done as well as crossfire and the ram truck was gone
Great content 👍 Thanks .

Theres a lot of incorrect or mislead info in this video... :/
Stupid decision why USA doesn’t have the SRT 300.
I want to put a dodge hellcat engine on my 2004 Ford f150
There was no Challenger till 2008 not 2006.
RPMs = Revolutions per MinuteS lol
This guy's voice makes me want to nap.
Makes you double think a 6.4L truck swap
Truck engine takes more boost because it has stronger internals. If you plan to boost it then the truck motor is what you want.
@@gasolinediesel972 has there been anyone that’s actually boosted one of these to confirm or disprove that thought process. Currently looking into doing a Ls Vs 6.4L from a truck and would really like to no the answer to this. Or is it just a educated guess that it can take more boost
@@donaldsonjeoboham8759 Well if you want high horsepower then an ls as well as a truck 6.4 and an SRT 6.4 will all need stronger internals. But truck vs SRT, truck wins. The truck version doesn't have extensive testing but it's pretty safe to assume that it has stronger internals because I believe that originally they tried to use the SRT engine for the trucks but it had durability problems so they made a new version. The SRT engine was most likely bending or snapping rods. The truck version has stronger rods and pistons. I believe it is a very similar crankshaft, if not identical.
Maaaan ill be happy with just the 392 thats more than enough atleast for me
The ram 1500 never got that 6.4L hemi because it will get poor fuel economy & decrease the towing & payload capacity & people are not going to buy it. That's what the ram 2500 & 3500 trucks are for with the 6.4L hemi. The 5.7L hemi V8 has alot of power & torque in the ram 1500, no need for a 6.4L hemi V8.
Great point, while it would be fun, most truck owners don’t buy the engine just for ripping around
@@MarspeedCars right people want reliability out their ram 1500. Also that 6.4L hemi was not in the dodge charger police pursuit cars.
I wish I could daily a 392. Gas is $1.54/L
