    2:17 The current version of P22Q also has two important updates/changes that you forgot to mention: The deletion of the internal lock (this came with the release of P22Q, in 2011), and the reinforcement roll pin at the back corner of the slide stop notch (not sure when this was added to the P22Q). The P22, when it was first released, had issues with slide cracking (the slide is made from ZAMAK/zinc alloy/pot metal), so that roll pin to spread out the impact of the slide stop is a very important improvement for the longevity.
    The captured guide recoil spring/guide rod, from what I read, didn't come with P22Q in 2011, but was part of the P22QD that was released in 2017. When Walther/Umarex discontinued the QD, they kept the captured rod for the P22Q.
    The P22 laser thing, from my experience, was the biggest piece of crap that I wasted $118 on. I bought my P22 back in 2010, one year before the release of P22Q. I got hold of the laser in 2011, thought the price was okay. It lasted about a little over a year before it died. I think I ran through two sets of batteries in total. For that price, Umarex should have hired Crimson Trace, LaserMax, or even Surefire to do the job, instead some Chinese toy maker as contractor :)

    VERY HELPFULL!
    I have had a p22q for about 6 months and will almost certainly get the target barrel. I just got the ccp in both 9mm and .380 and I like them ALMOST as much as the .22, so your comparisons to the those and other Walthers were GREATLY appreciated.
    I have been debating on the laser so, again, I really appreciate this review. I am wondering what the laser looks like on the ccw and weather it would swap over well so if you can show that I would be very grateful, especially if you also have the longer barrel to show at the same time.
    Thanks VERY much!

      As for the Walther P22Q laser, it is specifically designed for the P22Q. I installed the HiLight P3GL laser and tactical light combo ($60) on my CCW, but there are slim laser only solutions available out there if that's your interest. Viridian makes one specifically for the CCW for about $130. See viridianweapontech.com/e-walther-ccp

      Just went to my local gun shop & they said this P22Q isn't reliable at gun range or can be but will need consistent cleaning. Have you any experience with this? First time going for a firearm, so I'd like personal experience, thanks!

      @@dbzownz12345 Mine took about 75 rounds to become 100% reliable with MANY different types of cheap AND expensive ammo.
      I was pretty upset until after the SHORT break-in period, I am loving it and two other Walthers now.
      .22 ammo is dirtier than almost if not all other ammo, so, any .22 should be cleaned more frequently. I believe all guns should be cleaned after every use for maximum life anyway.
      Also, Walther customer service was very good to me both times I called. Once about pricing on the target barrel and once about the used CCP that I bought and they sent me a free part that the previous owner wasn't careful with and damaged

    Hey buddy, great review.. I absolutely love my P22 I cannot get it to jam,misfire or fail to eject it’s just a great little pistol! The only problem I’m having is trying to get hold of the laser sight as I’m told it’s discontinued by Walther but it seems to be available in the states! I’m just wondering if you could help me getting hold of one for me? I’m in Ireland and I’d love one..

      @mickmacstabletopreviews8466  ปีที่แล้ว

      waltherarms.com/p22-laser-sight is the location for the laser for the Walther P22Q. However, you might want to check out alternatives systems such as the Votatu H8L-G Pistol Light Laser Combo, Rechargeable Compact Green Laser Sight / 800 Lumens Tactical Flashlight with Strobe Function from AMAZON. Just go to AMAZON and search for Picatinny Rail handgun lasers. What I like about the P22Q is that it has the Picatinny rail system, but doesn't lock you into the Walther laser. Personally, I prefer a laser/tactical light combo with rechargeable capabilities and you can usually find one for a fraction of the cost. Trust me on this.

I usually check out Bud's Gun Shop at www.budsgunshop.com/search.php?q=Walther+P22&type= first. They have the Walther P22Q today at $379. They ship for free and have good prices and a great selection. I like their service and my FFL likes dealing with them. Next I would check Grab-A-Gun at grabagun.com/firearms/handguns/semi-automatic-handguns.html?manufacturer=Walther&p=2 where they have the P22Q at $349. Also, good prices and selection. This handgun has the reputation for being a "jam-o-matic", i.e.: failure to feed, failure to eject, AND suffers these problems even with high quality ammo. Mine is currently in the shop in Arkansas waiting for parts from Germany. After 1000+ rounds the ejector mechanism failed. On another point, and maybe this depends on the state, but extra magazines for this thing are $40.00 each! So if you like re-loading all day at the range the two mags that it ships with will give you hours of fun. Needless to say I am NOT very happy with this purchase. I can only recommend lots and lots of research before purchasing. Get out there and talk to real people who actually use the thing. Listen to their excuses. The critical question to ask is: would you want to rely on this gun in a self defense situation? (3 yards, 3 rounds, 3 seconds) Again, listen to their excuses.(gotta keep it clean, gotta use the "right" ammo etc.) Or my favorite ".22 isn't lethal" or "I carry a '9' for self defense". The question is: will it shoot reliably every time? If not, I would not waste money on this firearm.

    • @mickmacstabletopreviews8466
      @mickmacstabletopreviews8466  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear. I can't say that I share the jamming problem you describe. However, yes, magazines will cost about $40 each. Gunmag Warehouse best price is $35 for Walther P22Q mags. I bought a P22Q back in May and have had significant jamming issues with FTL and FTE problems with CCI Stingers and Velocitors, Federal Punch, and some Winchester ammo. Jammed on almost every round. Sent it back to Walther for warranty work... they replaced the barrel and sent it back to me. I still had the same jamming issues and contacted Walther again... they suggested I try CCI 40gr mini mags and Remington 40gr ammo. Well, to my surprise I was able to get thru 10 magazines of CCI mini mags with no issues at all. I was able to get thru 5 magazines of Remington Goldens with only minor issues. I guess I will be feeding it only CCI mini mags from now on.

Illinois, Minnesota and a couple of other states have laws intended to prevent the sale of "Saturday Night Special" type guns based on the melting point of their materials (800 to 1,000 degrees). Obviously, compared to my Browning Buckmarks or Ruger Mark IVs, the Walther P22Q isn’t in the same class, but I can see why the P22Q is so popular. As an inexpensive trainer pistol for a novice it works quite well and I haven’t had any problems with mine. However, there are certainly more reliable and better buys out there. For example, in my opinion the Taurus TX22 (Guns & Ammo’s 2019 Handgun of the Year) is a far better 22 "trainer pistol" overall for less money. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment.
